Nice and funny MOC indeed! I shall blog it soon! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

Thanks for the comments! I'm glad you like them and find them funny! As mentioned earlier, I have nothing against Johnny Depp, in fact I liked some of his OTHER roles... Speaking of one of which... Sometimes all it takes to scare you... ... is to see your own reflection in the mirror!

Great job, just like the previous reviews. I like the comparison between new and old figs. Expect it to be blogged soon! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

Yeah, I know PotC MOCs go to Pirate forum, but these ones aren't pirate-related at all. It's no secret I don't like Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise - I've mentioned it before - and I hate the Jack Sparrow character - it's one of the most annoying movie characters I've ever seen. So... I decided to start this little thread here. Please note that I do this just for fun, I have nothing against PotC fans, or Johnny Depp, and I don't want to offend anyone. This is supposed to be a non-harmful way of me showing my dislike for that fictional character. Also note that I'm really glad LEGO released the PotC theme, as it provides us with great pieces useful for pirate MOCing, not to mention a certain minifigure for me to torment. So let's start with the first picture where we see... ... Mr. Jack Sparrow being shot in my version of a certain famous scene. ^Jack Sparrow in the bathroom from SAW. If you've seen that movie you know this can't be any good. (glad I still have this MOC in one piece) ^Those who are familiar with the original Star Trek will hopefully understand this one. FATALITY! Perhaps the worst fate of all - a Jack Sparrow doll being played with by a young girl who's somewhat disrespectful to toys. That's all for now, more to come!

For a first physical MOC it's really good! Small and cute. I think it deserves being blogged! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]...soon!

With all new PotC reviews already blogged, I think now we can blog this part too. Once again - good job! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp] Expect it there soon!

I believe and hope this may still be undone. They undid the stupid Peter-Parker-being-his-own-clone thing once, so it's possible that they undo One More Day. Unfortunately, the guys at Marvel tend to make their comics somewhat similar to the movies, obviously to attract the movie audience and make them buy the books. It's stupid as it's the movies that are based on the comics and not the other way round, but they do it anyway. I mean - X-Men's costumes were black in the movies and they made them black in the comics afterwards. Same with Spider-Man's web-shooters - he didn't use them in Sam Raimi's movies so they removed them from the comic (only to return them after One More Day, but that's a different story). And in the new Spider-Man movie currently in production not only will Peter be single, but they say MJ will be totally absent. So that's bad news. Joe Quesada in no longer editor-in-chief, although he's still chief creative officer or something like that. So that's bad news too. Although I must say this - the One More Day story itself was a good read, but the impact it had on Spider-Man was so bad. If it were some kind of alternate-reality thing, or even a dream sequence, I'd actually call it a cool story! In short: the story - good, the way it was used to mess up with eveything we knew - not good at all. Thanks for your comments! I think I'll try to make some more comic-based MOCs in the near future.

That's true, some people compare Marvel comics to soap opera and it's a good comparison actually. Characters getting married, divorced, people thought to be dead who come back alive years later, characters having children they are not aware of... This can get confusing at times.

Thanks for the great review! I had no idea the tavern looked so cool! It's also nice to have a new redcoat guy. Expect it to be blogged on Classic-Pirates.com soon! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

Thanks for the comments! Yes, the background is plain black as it was in the comic - I think it was meant to represent the 'unreal' feeling of that scene - they're in no particular place, they're going 'into the void' of sorts. I've actually been thinking about making more Spidey vigs - I like the comics a lot, I didn't like Sam Raimi's movies that much - they were OK, not great, not completely bad, but at least they gave us the LEGO sets. The whole One More Day story was highly controversial, but oh well, Marvel did it so we have to live with it.

Those reviews are a little harsh, but I sadly agree, the last years were the worst for the classic Pirates. I also agree that the Armada sets were the best among them, as it was a fresh theme, and at the same time it seemed the designers had run out of ideas for pirate bases and ships - the last few of them were a big letdown. It's a funny thing, but when people my age look back and feel nostalgic about the classic Pirate sets, they usually mean the early sets, up to 1994 - 1995 tops. The later sets were a turn in the wrong direction IMO.

Judging by the pictures alone, I gave it a 4, although I'd rather give it a 3.5 had that been an option. That's what it is - slightly above average. Meaning, it's worse than Black Seas Barracuda and 10210 Imperial Flagship, and a tad worse than Brickbeard's Bounty. Definitely better than Red Beard Runner. I'd put it on par with Skull's Eye Schooner actually. It is my belief actually that Brickbeard's Bounty was trying to be the 21st century verion of Black Seas Barracuda (similar sails, similar looking sterncastle, 4 gun ports and other details), while the Queen Anne's Revenge is trying to be the new Skull's Eye Schooner. They both have 3 masts, the mizzen-mast being very similar, both have a lot of gunports with not enough cannons to fill them (I never liked SES' rotating cannons), both have a very large sterncastle and both are rather sinister-looking. There's one more thing they have in common - both look great from a distance, but if you take a closer look you'll see they're missing a lot. The QAR's overall look is great, but it lacks an additional deck, the way the cannons are installed is very cheap, the fore-mast needs ratlines and so on. That being said however, I still think it is worth buying for a pirate fan like me, and I am going to get it eventually, but I'll try to get it on discount. It is overpriced, but all licensed sets are unfortunately. I hope no one got offended, I know lots of people like the SES and even some consider it the best ship there is, that's just my opinion. This! Although they did get pretty close with last year's Imperial Flagship. It looks like there's twelve gunports, but there's no room to place cannons in the two foremost hatches - the mast base gets in the way. That's strange as it almost looks like a design flaw... So that leaves ten working gunports with only three cannons to arm them. So it's much less than a half actually.

Here's a reference picture from the actual comic. I hope that's not a violation of copyright issues or anything, as it's just one page. I shall add it to the first post as well. I wanted to use the sad female face so I took that one. Besides, I guess no one looks pretty when they're crying. About Peter - he was actually trying to be comforting at times so that kinda explains the face. I was considering yellow heads but I chose fleshies as they are more true to the comic. Thanks for your comments!

Hi there. It's a scene from the very controversial and almost universally hated Spider-Man comic book story called One More Day. In this story Peter Parker and Mary Jane make a deal with the demon named Mephisto. They decide to let him erase their marriage from ever happening, in exchange for saving the life of Aunt May, who had been shot. Mephisto changes their past, so that the marriage had never happened. Those are their last moments together as portrayed in the comic. To read more about the One More Day story, check out this Wikipedia article. As mentioned, it was hated by most fans, as it basically erased 20 years of comics that showed Peter and MJ married. All the Spider-Man comics from that point until today have been affected by that continuity change. In the new continuity, Peter is a bachelor again. And now the overall view of the MOC. It's pretty simple really, but I just felt like doing it. I'm not giving any opinions on the story itself, I just thought it would be a fun build. And here's a page from the actual comic added for comparison (click to enlarge): Hope you enjoyed it! Comments are welcome!

Finally, a review of my most wanted POTC set! Can't wait for the rest of it. Expect it to be blogged soon! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

Good job! I shall blog this along with your thoughts on 1994-1995 sets, so that we have the 1989-1995 range covered in our blog. [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

Another nice comprehensive review! I shall blog this along with your thoughts on 1992-1993 sets. Good work! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

This definitely should be moved to LEGO Pirates.

That's certainly a very thorough and interesting review Mr. SirSven7! It certainly needs more exposure, so expect it to be featured in our blog soon! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

They said they'd ban us all... But they missed me somehow... This station will broadcast for as long as possible! And if they do ban me and this really is my final post - so be it! And long live the rum!

MOC: Diego Maradona - 1986 and 2010
Dreamweb replied to the enigma that is badger's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Nicely done. Actually, the unmodified Series 4 Soccer Player reminds me a lot of Gabriel Batistuta. -
I did own some clone-brand bricks, but I never had anything made by Mega Bloks. How old is this brand anyway? I wasn't even aware of it in my KFOL years, I've seen other clone brands here and there but no Mega Bloks - perhaps they weren't available/popular in Poland? As of now, they do have Mega Bloks sets in shops here, but obviously I'm not interested in them. So yeah, not everyone used them at some point...

As a long time LEGO Pirates fan, I actually used to build ships that looked a lot like yours! At that time I only wanted them to be as big as possible, didn't care about the design too much. I have one more childhood memory I'd like to share with you. When my uncle once came to visit us, I showed him my bricks and he (possibly with my father's help, I'm not sure) built a space-buggy sort of thing, which looked totally awesome to me! I remember trying to rebuild it from memory by myself a few times later on, but couldn't. I think he would've made a good AFOL.

That's the first time I've won anything in a Eurobricks contest! Thanks to all the participants and to everyone who voted, not just for me, but voters in general! It's been a lot of fun, lots of great MOCs here. Hope you all had a great time.
