  1. Thanks for all your comments. As I wrote earlier, this is not the end. The games have just begun. I'm planning to make some more, and I'm definitely considering to make Zep, as well as Eric Matthews and a few others, and of course more Jigsaw! I've already taken some screencaps from the movies to use as material for potential MOCs. And I'm definitely NOT dismantling the bathroom until the premiere of Saw VII (Oct 22 this year if I'm not mistaken), because I have a feeling it might be in the movie again, in which case I'll be able to make some Saw VII MOCs right away.
  2. Hi there. I've been a fan of the Saw series for a few years now. Although it has some weak points, overall I view it as a really good horror franchise. This was an idea that came to me some time ago. At first I wanted to make just a few small, vignette-like scenes depicting various moments from the movies. And I must warn you that you've got to know the movies pretty well to fully enjoy those MOCs. After making three of those small things, I wanted to go for something larger and decided to build the whole infamous bathroom, which first appeared in the original Saw. I wanted the replica to be as exact as possible. And here it is, along with the characters from the first film: And here are the three small things I built earlier, in order of their movie appearance: ^This is Amanda's reverese bear trap from the first Saw. Unfortunately I didn't have a purple dress like the one she was actually wearing, so I used the most similar dress I could find. ^This is Amanda and Lynn in a scene from Saw III (note that I had to use Arabic numerals in file names, otherwise their order in brickshelf gallery would've been messed up). ^And finally, and this is the first thing I've actually built as a warm-up of sorts, this is detective Hoffman during his speech in Saw V. Check out the BRICKSHELF FOLDER to see more images of the bathroom. That's all... for now. I already have a few more ideas for MOCs from various parts of the series, so the gallery will be updated. Hope you enjoy it!
  3. Last weekend there was a Lego event in my home city of Warsaw, which of course I attended. The kids, supervised by some people in Lego t-shirts, were building a large fire truck. It had already been built when I got there on the second day: It's not the best Lego fire truck I've seen, but at least it's big. There was also a smaller version present, which I think was there to show the builders how the big one should look like: I also heard they were going to build a giant fireman, but I didn't stay long enough to see it. Right next to the two trucks there were some display cases, containing both sets and MOCs. Those were my favourite part of the whole event: Some of the elements, like the train, were moving, some had lights that could be activated by pushing a button located outside of the case (like the inside of the big city building). There were also some tables where the kids and their parents, under proper supervision that is, could build anything they wanted. There was a System section, and a Duplo section: There was also a shop. I expected something special, but there were really just sets you can see in a typical toy store around here. The shop was decorated with a Duplo giraffe and a giant fireman fig: To sum things up, it was not a big event and it was more appealing for kids rather than AFOLs, but the families present there were having lots of fun, and it's always nice to see a tent full of your favourite bricks right in the centre of your town. I was glad I could be there and take some photos. See all of them in the Brickshelf folder: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=430742
  4. It's a great movie, I've seen it several times. The first time was some very late night TV screening and I was very young back then. I like the fact that it features so many rock musicians - Iggy Pop, Lemmy and Carl McCoy. A very intense, dark movie.
  5. I like this set a lot. A lot of nice parts, nice features. I like the fact that this time they included ladders for the soldiers to climb up to higher floors - a feature often missing. It has many moveable parts and high playability. And it has Admiral Woodhouse which is a very cool minifig (not as cool as Governor Broadside though ).
  6. I saw it yesterday. Don't read any further if you haven't seen it and don't want it to be spoiled for you. I must say I liked it, although I did have some problems with it. Too many ideas seemed recycled from the first one. In the first one we had a bad guy who created his own version of Iron Man suit. In this one it's more or less the same, but this time we have a suit worn by Whiplash and multiple Iron-Man inspired robots. So once again Tony Stark fights against his own technology used by the bad guys. There's also the War Machine guy who uses Stark's own suit, first as an enemy, then as an ally. And BTW how did Rhodes learn to operate the suit so fast? It took Stark a significant amount of time to learn to control it in the first movie, and he was the guy who created it! I've already read an explanation somewhere that between parts 1 and 2 Tony let Rhodes wear the suit once or twice, but they should've at least mentioned it on screen, the way it is it looks like a plothole to me... Oh, and they went a little over the top with this evil robot army near the end. But it had a lot of good moments and the humour was OK. I loved the use of Captain America's shield. The acting was mostly good and I really liked how Justin Hammer tried to copycat Stark - not only his technology but also his behaviour and sense of humour. Overall, it was a good action, comic book-style movie, and I expected just that. It was entertaining and fun. Definitely one of the best superhero movies I've seen in a while. Can't really tell right now if it was better or worse than part one, I'll have to see it again (on DVD probably) to decide. Those who have seen it - share your thoughts!
  7. I think this may be the nicest-looking Toy Story set I've seen so far. I like the truck a lot. I think it might be modified into a nice large System truck, or perhaps a Model Team kinda thing, with some extra pieces added.
  8. Welcome! Enjoy your time here! Hope you're gonna build some real stuff by yourself too, not just digital things!
  9. Actually I didn't come up with my nick by myself. It all hapened a long time ago when me and my pals used to play computer games on Amiga at my friend's place. Besides me there was one more guy with the same first name as me. So to know who we are talking to, we started using nicknames. And the funny thing is that they first started calling me Dreamweb behind my back, and that was because I often played Dreamweb the computer game. After some time they started addressing me with this name. I use it ever since but only online, nobody except those friends (a few of which I still have contact with) talks like that in person or even knows about it. BTW I've always wanted do make a Dreamweb the game MOC made by Dreamweb... Perhaps one day I will.
  10. I like this a lot... I surely wouldn't mess with a farmer who has a tank tractor like this. But why didn't you include the zombies?
  11. Loot Island, yeah... My mistake. The big island piece is just one of many things I don't like in that set, but that's not the review thread so I'll refrain myself from critisizing it yet again. But I really liked the other "island based" sets - Soldiers' Fort and Shipwreck Hideout. So once again the overall score is on the "plus" side.
  12. Actually with the Skull Island it was the other way round... Seeing it on pictures made me think it was good, but the real thing disappointed me. But as I stated earlier, this was my least favourite of the new line and an exception of sorts. Usually what you said is true.
  13. I remember seeing this set in a catalogue and wanting it so much... Never got it though. I voted above average, it has this nice classic feel and overall pleasing look. But it has some design flaws, like the mentioned stairway to the ocean, or the fact that the prison is also partly in the ocean. Funny thing about those white dots on the baseplate, in all those years I had no idea about their existence...
  14. Hello and welcome, enjoy your time here!
  15. I don't think that's the real minifig scale, it would have to be a lot bigger. If I'm not mistaken, the original Enterprise had 21 decks and 400+ crewmembers. That would be almost impossible to build. But it looks like you're doing a fine job so far with your version. Good luck!
  16. The new Pirates had some good and bad stuff in them, but overall I didn't feel cheated. The Jolly Roger flags were ugly, but most of the minifigs had great faces, torsos and accessories. I really liked Bickbeard's Bounty, except the sails, wchich can be easily replaced with customs (which I did). The 10210 Imperial Flagship looks absolutely fantastic (I still don't own it but I will eventually). Some of the sets weren't that good (Skull Island being my least favourite), but overall it was a decent line. Actually if I had to say we were cheated, I'd say it was because the line lasted only one year. The number of sets we got was way too small. But I think it was the policy of Lego as they are probably planning on releasing a Pirates Of The Caribbean line as we speak.
  17. While I loved the first two Toy Story movies, I'm still having a hard time identyfying with these sets... And this set is perhaps the best example why. I mean, I've quit playing with toys other than Lego long ago (and I consider Lego much more than a mere toy). And this is a Lego set that is supposed to look nothing like a Lego set, but some plastic toy train. I've seen many trains like this in my old toy store. So in a way Lego tries to look like something I'm no longer interested in, and I'm no longer interested in it because I chose to be interested in Lego instead. If that makes any sense... I know it's based on a movie and I know it's still bricks which you can use to build other stuff... But design-wise, it's really hard for me to get to like these sets... Very nice review BTW...
  18. I voted above average. It's a good ship but... The colours are a bit messed up. In this case less would've been more. The captain's cabin's design looks rushed compared to what we had in BSB. I couldn't care less for the rudder mechanism. I'd remove it and put some extra stuff in the cabin. For some reason I never liked rotating cannons, the classic design with wheels would've worked much better. It's still a classic set but it just doesn't deserve as many points as BSB... THAT was a masterpiece, this is just a good-looking pirate vessel.
  19. Let's not forget the castaway pirate's legs from 6241, they may be used a s shorts... Sort of... However they are pretty poorly designed - only front side is printed, and only to a certain level, above which yellow colour can be seen when your minifig walks. I remember I was pretty disappointed with these legs when I got the set.
  20. Congratulations. The whole contest was a lot of fun. Too bad I didn't have time to participate. Oh well, next time perhaps...
  21. Those two were my childhood favourites and I still think they're great.
  22. Stephen King's "Under The Dome". It's pretty funny cause I used to read lots of his books once, but after a few years I felt sort of tired of them so I decided to take a break. I'm enjoying this novel a lot and already plan on reading a few others so I guess the break is over.
  23. Due to server change (see HERE), all Classic-Pirates.com blog entries, including the one about your MOC, are being postponed, but don't worry, it will be frontpaged there as soon as everything is fixed.
  24. That's a very nice MOC you've made. Expect it to be blogged on Classic-Pirates.com soon
  25. I've seen both the short film and the full length movie. I must say you've done a pretty good job. I especially like the hands. I think the torso could use some improvement though. It looks too flat and too thin, perhaps more slopes would've solved that. Other than that it's a very nice MOC.
