  1. The new colors are cheaper, that's the reason I think, Take the new grey for example, they combined with blue because blue is a cheaper color. Personally I'm a big fan of the old brown, it has this "wooden" aura (and the old grey has a "stone" aura while the new grey rather has a "metal" aura )
  2. I had this "cannon tower" I made using the design of the set Cannon Cove I Also think a long pier is critical, a long pier with lots of branches so it can accommodate plenty of ships, every fort needs supplies.
  3. A pirate ship moving around is still far away, I was thinking of using the PF for opening cannonhatches, extracting cannons and the like All I need is an effective construction for the hatches, so you can't see from the outside.
  4. That is an awesome fort, I saw it for real at a belgian lego event, a year ago (2 year ? don't know :S) it's huge. I don't have enough bricks to make such large fort, I made a smaller one a while back, I posted it on mocpages but that site doesn't work very well at the moment so I can't provide any pictures right now. What any fort certainly needs is a high tower, maybe to function as lighthouse ?
  5. Nice, I've been thinking about adding powerfunctions to a pirateship :P
  6. Gongratulations, this contest produced some nice mocs indeed.
  7. Nice so far, the grey color scheme and green lanterns makes it somewhat spooky Keep it up.
  8. I also think Thunderchild sounds nice, it kinds of implies that this rather small frigate has a big brother Nicely done by the way, I like the color scheme.
  9. Wow, this is coming along nice, I like that bridge, reminds me of an old pirate set. All it's need is some cleaning to make a better presentation and a small ship to go with it would be very awesome. Great job !
  10. Very nice, if I were a pirate I'd still try to find the way out though, just the thought of being trapped somewhere, even in a nice place, like a golden cage.
  11. It's finished... and everything works :) Captain Sebeus Now I'm actually not really satified with this ship, all mechanical abilities are fine but the ship itself looks rather blocky. I think I'll need to try again. Luckely I can just remove everything I don't like withouth touching its mechanical systems Anyway, this was a fun build, mostly in the beginning. Maybe I should apply these mechanics to a larger ship, like the Flying Dutchman I'm working on, imagine, Remote controlled Triple cannons
  12. Sweet, she looks expensive though :P So you're going to build more than one of these ? I can imagine how cool a fleet of these would look. I like how you used whips as decoration, nice!
  13. I'll check how much my new colorscheme would cost me The whole ship will have to be rebuild, a bit wider and slightly longer, I noticed I forgot a gunport on both the gun deck and second gun deck. hmmm, dark tan is a expensive color isn't it ? and old grey is too I suppose, considering that color isn't produced anylonger... Either way, this will take more time to finish.
  14. I have come to point where I'm starting to run out of parts. The design I have in mind is grande, a rough 15 procent larger than what I'm showing now. I wanted to wait as long as possible with buying additional bricks and that was a good thing because I see there's quite some space for improvement already. Anyway, this is what I've build so far: She's a bit longer than my Black Pearl, taller but about the same width. Either way she's an improvement compared to my first version of the Flying Dutchman. Back then I was under the impression that you can't build a ship without prefab hull parts The color sheme stayed mostly the same though I think the grey looks rather boring. personally I'm disturbed by the long black line along the ships' side, I would have prefered grey or dark grey instead but I didn't have enough parts. Incase you were wondering, the black line is what makes the angle on the side, I used hinged car roof plates you see, they make a less agressive angle than the hinge plates as used in Captain Greenhairs' Frigate. I did that because the FD is much taller compared to a frigate. I left one side of the ship open, you might find that cool so you can view the interior but the actual reason was that I don't have enough parts for a complete ship. On that note, you don't see the port side in the movies anyway. Anyway there will be an interior I had to reduce the size of the organ in order to make it fit in the captains' quarters, this might sound strange considering my previous Flying Dutchman was smaller yet it had a bigger organ. However, in the previous version the whole captains' quarter was situated on the gun deck, not where it is supposed to be. I think the new organ looks nicer than the old one though. The stern still needs a lot of work, there's no place on this ship where part selection is more critical. But the bow needs the most work of all, apart from the fact that she's missing her "teeth" she could look a bit more elegant. Now, I'm gonna have to order parts but I haven't made up my mind wether I'll finish this ship or start building an improved version right away. You see I found a colorscheme that could work: A combination of old grey and dark grey, dark tan, trans. yellow and some dark green and trans. green accents, actually I'm not so sure about the trans. green anymore. Oh well. C&C is appreciated. I'm under the impression that the Flying Dutchman is a Galleon, correct me if I'm wrong on that and while you're at it I'm also confused about POTC Queen Anne's revenge, a ship I would say she's also a galleon.
  15. She's a beauty, there one thing I don't like about it though but it's inherent to the prefab hull pieces you used. You see the stern doesn't have a smooth connection to the hull, it's a dissadvantage to the new hull pieces. I don't really know what you can do about that, yet I can't help but notice. Just a small issue actually, overall this ship is great, love it.
  16. Thank you, I appreciate it very much, especially because I liked your entry very much. Now about the Eye of the Kraken, actually the whole mouth, It was bound to be unnatural, the Kraken is a cephalopod but in my little scene tentacles are coming out of the water as well as the head :P
  17. This ship is way cooler than it looks on first sight, love the working rigging. That's some smooth work on the bow gun, nice. I think the mast looks a bit odd though, a bit chunky.
  18. Very nice, I like the shape of it. Now where's the entrance ?
  19. I have already seen it on mocpages, either way, good job, I'm inspired, I'm building a similar ship right now. This design works great for the Interceptor (POTC) Those new hull pieces actually do have some advantages. I guess there's an up- and downside to everything.
  20. That would be a LOT of exageration, TLC's Queen Anne's revenge looks like a spanish galleon I think, nothing like a frigate (what I understand Blackbeards real ship was). I don't think you can actually link POTC storyline to history or legend that way. Either way, the QAR is a nice ship and that's why I bought it.
  21. I'd like to claim my bonus points for Mailing List VERIFIED Facebook Page VERIFIED Picture Challenge Vote VERIFIED Total: 8 Points
  22. My scores: Fat Tony Where's the rest of the crew? 1 point Yatkuu Encounter at the blacksmith workshop 1 point Sebeus Iniwum Hello Beastie 2 (bonus) points (so I have atleast some points on my own entry :S) MstrOfPppts Isla De La Muerta 1 point Matn Tia Dalma's Shack 1 point Cecilie The Fountain of youth 1 point That's it, now I hope this is an eligable voting otherwise I might have misread the rules on that :S
  23. That index, are my ships in it too ? I'd like my small trading ship, http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=56013&st=0&p=998144entry998144 and my Black Pearl, http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=55723&st=0&p=993673entry993673 in it if that's no problem, That index is a great system to get a whole view of all ships.
  24. The prizes do make it a little more interesting I think
  25. Great idea for an entry, the picture quality makes it look less than it actually is I think but overall it does look like it could use some improvement. I like jacks prison and the undead pirates saying "you know nothing of hell" Good luck.
