Agreed, Equiped with black sails you could call any other ship "the Black Pearl" as well, the Qar really has some details typical for the ship in the movie.
-
No, you're not the only one But I have noticed some people don't see it

Le Fourageux, French third-rate ship of the line, minifig scale!
Sebeus I replied to Captain Blackmoor's topic in Pirate MOCs
Very nice, one thing that I noticed right away are the cannon port holes on the second gun deck, they look a bit high but I suppose you left some space to attach the hatches ? -
I didn't mean the Caribbean Clipper, I consider that one a big ship because it has wide hulls. the Renegade runner and original imperial flagship (confirmed "Sea Lion" ) have a great sailplan for their size, the runner is a gaff rigged sloop and the "Sea lion" is a square rigged sloop, both are pretty good to quickly maneuvre around. The cross bone clipper is rather worthless in a battle IMO. I don't know yet about the Armada Flagship, not very familiar with its sailplan, might work or might not work at all
-
three and it's a complete hull with front and back hull piece, unlike the black pearl Small ships might be suitable indeed, not only the orinal imperial flagship (which is the only small ship that has two cannons) but also the renegade runner makes a good stand, it looks fast either way. I remember the original imperial flagship had a name, in Dutch lego folders it was called "de zeeleeuw", literally translated the "Sea lion" anyone else remember something like that ?

The red and brown hull parts you have, are those the ones from the Skull's Eye Schooner ? If so that's good, colors would work well then I think

My fleet (Some of the pictures are also links to a gallery)

Cool, you have the newest ships. Btw, the flags are pointed in the wrong direction
-
Nice, haha, your version has one mast more than the real one
-
A simple anchor, I never used it on a ship though.
-
The Idea sounds fun, it would definitely be cool to see that Chast made out of Lego, not an easy project though if you really want to make the lock work

I reuploaded the pictures of my entry in the contest I spent a lot of work on my entry so I was quite dissapointed I didn't win
-
I'm suprised you haven't seen it before it's a very useful solution and still the only one I used for quite some time now
-
This was also a contest entry, the goal was to recreate the official set 'Imperial Trading post', I think he won a Black Seas Barracuda in the contest
-
Aha!, that bow looks great, keep it up
-
I know this ship very well, it beat my Black Pearl in a POTC contest at ForbiddenCove It was a deserved win I guess.
-
In dutch the dog is called "Bobby" and the Duponts are named "Janssens" :P It's funny how they changed names according to the country the comicbooks were released in Can't wait to see that sea battle, I already loved it in the comicbook

Perhaps, it is the only ship that has cannons on both sides so while firing one broadside it can reload the other cannons, then make a sharp turn and fire them, the Imperial Flagship will either have to choose one side to place its cannons or devide them over its two sides. Deviding its cannons over its two sides would make it equal in broadside power as the Black Seas Barracuda But then again, I think the Skull's Eye Schooner might be the better choice, it has 4 cannons as well but they are mounted on sliding turntables which makes them easy to switch broadsides.
-
It has 6 cannon ports but ony 4 of them are useable, the one nearest to the bow and nearest to the stern are fake ones, you can't place a cannon behind them. It has 3 cannon ports and a total of 4 sliding rails so actually there could be a 4th cannon port (but the set only holds 3 cannons) The rest is correct I think, anyway I agree, the IFS would probably win, the enclosed deck offering more defence and more space for arnement is the critical characteristic I'm going to make a ship that combines aspects of the SES, the QAR and the Red Beard Runner to have the ultimate ship that can outrun and outgun the IFS
-
I made some creations inspired by Tintin but nothing directly based on it, like my Shark submarine, just the idea of a shark-shaped submarine intruiged me. I did make a sunken wreck a long time ago, it was supposed to look like teh wreck of the Unicorn; well, it was a long time ago so it doesn't look much like it. I might give it another try one of these days
-
You mean if you place cannons on the upper deck as well ? In their basic forms (plain sets) the IFS has an equal broadside as the SES so on that point it's an even fight.
-
I can't believe someone actually prefers the QAR over the Skull's Eye Schooner, such a practical ship, such refined design, its hull alone already makes it look faster than the QAR. The SES's has a well designed forecastle which allows extra combat power and there's the small gun on both sides of the stern ofcourse. You shouldn't consider "voodoo magic" when comparing the ships or you could as well add an imperial star destroyer like Hornbricker sais

The imperial flagship is the biggest ship of all official sets, it is the only one featuring 4 hull midsections and is considerably taller than any other as well. The Skull's Eye Schooner could make a good stand, it has 4 broadside cannons matching the Imperial flagship. But the SES does not feature an upper deck unfortunatly. Based on its sail plan she would make a ship easier to steer and so perform tactical actions during a battle against the IFS. The Queen Anne's Revenge makes a chance to stand, it only has three cannons (though there's room for 4) but has, like the skull's eye schooner, a sail plan implying maneuverability The Red Beard Runner would have been my first choice if it weren't for its incomplete sail plan, it's relativly small with only 2 hull midsections, though it has 3 cannons there's room for 4, the RBR is a brig and those are known to be fast and maneuverable, however in its current state (gaps in the sails and no jibb (front tricorner sail) it cannon make use of that advantage I'm afraid. With a proper sail plan she would be THE ship able to avoid the Imperial flagship's broadside. Out of the basic sets I'd choose the Skull's Eye Schooner to engage the imperial flagship and blast those imperials in the oblivion

Nope, you're not the only one I'm a big fan for a long time, secret of the unicorn ("het geheim van de eenhoorn" in dutch) is one of my favourites, along with its sequel "de schat van Scharlaken Rackham". I often dreamt of building the Unicorn out of the brick I got all of the comic books and some I have also on video.

Very nice, the rigging is coming along nicely too, what type of ship would you say this is ?
