That was something I found surprising when I was in Europe for the first time this summer; most everything cost at least as much Euro as it did dollars back home. I'm no economics expert but it sure didn't make sense on on an intuitive level. Regarding that picture, I don't think it was ever confirmed as official. I am still taking GRogall's word as law though and look forward to more news of this set, hopefully soon.

LOTR/Hobbit had 12 last year (but only four scheduled for the summer so far ). I agree that the superheroes sets have a lot more staying potential, simply because they will always have movies coming out, but I don't think that is represented by the size of the line.

Would anyone be willing to make face decals for my prologue elves for me? A copy of the Mirkwood Elf faces would be fine or something of your own design. They will ask for the code but if you're afraid that is not enough to distinguish what you need, you can describe it further. I think that between the piece number and the set number they should be able to get the right one though.

That reckless Peter Jackson is going to rip the space/time continuum!! Anyway, I too would be surprised if they put characters from different parts of the movie into the set. Largely, because it's not necessary for anyone except maybe Grima's existence and even if they wanted to include a fairly large line-up of minifigures, there are a couple different groups of characters they could use, both of which could include Grima. A great play feature for Orthanc could be knocking Saruman from the balcony to be impaled by that machine! Oh, you don't think LEGO would do that... They're for kids? Shoot.

That's a happy thought Omi. I just wonder if it would be necessary with the partnership with Marvel in place. I mean, I know the movies are different but I would imagine they could make comic based sets and still benefit from the movies being out. Maybe, HOPEFULLY, I'm mistaken and it leads to X-Men sets sooner. I'm still quite puzzled by how little love X-Men has gotten and I guess it stands to reason they are waiting for the movies. It's kind of a good thing for me though since Middle Earth is around...

It is a treatment that you apply to cloth to keep it from fraying (getting ragged and tattered at the edges). As far as I know, all of LEGO's cloth is treated. You can get a bottle at any hobby store for pretty cheap. It will make the cloth a bit thicker and more stiff the more you apply so keep that in mind if you are making something that will need to have a lot of flexibility. Hope this help -SB

They'll die. Hope we aren't spoiling it for people though. :/ Azog (sp?) hasn't died yet but I bet he does at the battle of five armies. Haldir was already way outside of his place in the books. Considering his presence at Helmsdeep, I don't find it surprising he died. Plus, he was not really a significant character in the books. Changing Fili and Kili's fate would be taking a much greater liberty in my opinion. I'm just glad I won't be seeing that wretched goblin king in the rest of the trilogy.

I bought a small tub of legos today for $20. Mixed in were megablocks and quite a few broken and scarred legos but now that I've sorted through it, it appears that I scored a complete 7194 Yoda set in good condition. Hoo-ah!!

What's going on there is nothing new. I highly doubt they have LEGO though since they essentially don't even have an economy. Who knows though, maybe their new leader is as fanatical about toys as his father was about movies...

Assuming I'm limited to what LEGO has designed, I'd start with making the elven shields and helmets from the LOTR video game since it would be better and easier than making the stupid things myself. Then it would be a glorious number of Elronds (for their back printing), elven staffs and elven hairpieces. Oh, and comic con Rogue.
