Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Str0ngbad replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
US Shop S@H has the Sea Port Battle and the Mansion Attack set. It looks like they are all in stock on Amazon. This may have been mentioned already but if so I missed it. -
Fair point but that's CUUSOO right? I mean, I don't think Minecraft's main following is 6-11 either. Despite what LEGO has said I think they are willing to push the target market a little bit for CUUSOO as long as it is still kid-friendly.

This sounds absurd to me. I mean, I know the show has a cult following but that's it anymore and with the added issue of targeting a market very different from that of the show this doesn't sound like something LEGO would give any thought to. Also, to argue that movies like LOTR and SW are violent and that therefore means shows that are socially controversial are on the table is to misunderstand the culture of much of LEGO's market. I know in parts of Europe, violence and gore is more offensive to people than it is here in the States and that the opposite is true for sexual content/themes but it's not just 'six of one, half a dozen of another'. Just comparing how much of the toy dept. at your local store is filled with SW, TMNT, and Super Heroes and how much is filled with The Simpsons and Family Guy should be enough to see why LEGO wouldn't be interested in this theme. I wouldn't mind if it came to be but I'd sure be surprised. Long live the fleshy!!!

You'll be happy to find it's pretty cheap too. Be sure to get some anti-fraying solution while you're there.

I almost wish I had no clue Orthanc was coming. I'm running out of nails to bite. So to change the subject a bit, I am becoming more and more enamored with the Council of Elrond set: the arches, the leaves, the hairpieces... another Gimli. I really hope I can manage to work Elrond's circlet out of his hair.... Anyway, I'm going to need at least threeve of this set. $ Texas

This is absolutely stunning! Thank you for sharing it with us. There is such wonderful detail all through it that I think I could look at it a dozen times and still find something new.

In my opinion, it would even be worth cutting up an elven hairpiece for this guy but I don't see why you couldn't just cut up another long-haired piece since the ears aren't showing. I think I would try this in dark brown. Great modification though.

Any chance one of you fine gents could get me a screen shot of Gil-Galad's back? I could use a good look at his crown for a custom I'm working on.
-
Howdy! I honestly expected you to be from my area with that greeting.

Helms Deep MOC w/ Elven Archers/Swordsman
Str0ngbad replied to Yanthedestroyer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'm glad we can expect more from you eventually. I actually think the red is quite movie accurate, the capes/cloaks being the only things that were blue in the movie.- 18 replies

Bilbo Baggins (blue jacket) exclusive figure with DVD
Str0ngbad replied to SheepEater's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
He's from scenes that didn't make it into the final cut of the first film. I guess it might pair better with the extended edition release but I don't think it really matters. -
General Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Questions
Str0ngbad replied to jmagaletta's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Not really as I think it's understood that it will just be Hobbit sets. -
I really like this micro and after studying it for a while I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out how the balcony piece is attached. I can't wait to see your Barad-dur.

Purist LOTR and Hobbit figs
Str0ngbad replied to BlueberryWaffles's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Not that many people have extra second age Elrond's lying around but his back print works really well for a generic second age elf soldier. -
Which Hobbit Dwarf is Your Favorite?
Str0ngbad replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Dwalin easily. While Balin is my favorite of the characters, Dwalin's beard is wonderfully versatile and looks great. Plus, I just love his head print. Least favorite is Ori. I like his character but I really don't like the minifigure.- 81 replies

The larger cup is about $15. I want to say the small one is $8 or $9.- 10 replies

I never heard about this. This duality of the Tolkien Estate and the movies doesn't make a lick of sense to me in the first place but that definitely changes the way that I've been looking at things. @Brickadiergerard: Thanks for sharing what you did for Goldberry. I'll have to check those pieces out.

Official Elf compatible heads
Str0ngbad replied to Wardancer's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thanks FoggyNelson. That second face may be just what I need for an elf I'm working on. -
Generally, I agree with you but their inclusion of Tom Bombadil in the video game makes me think it is very possible that they could give us a nod at the books sooner or later.

Lord of the Rings Game - Minifig Designs
Str0ngbad replied to DarkKnight7's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Galadriel's hairpiece is going to be released on Arwen this summer. At least, I'm pretty sure it's the same as the one in the game aside from color. I really like your figs so I'm glad to see you're still at this. -
Oooooh, I did forget. That would be a very surprising and pleasing move.

This is lovely. I'm a little confused as to how the building on the right is put together. Is it just lever bases and whips or is there something reinforcing that part of the structure? Also, your duck made me smile. :)
-
Why? I'd love to have them but were they ever at Orthanc for something I'm not remembering?
