I just finished building the Going Merry and my review will be up in a week or two. But in short I found it to be an amazing set. It's a great representation of the ship, it's a good balance of scale, and it includes the full crew. I got Gold Rogers, Buggy, Arlong and Alvida for posters. I was pleasantly surprised to get 4 different ones after so many of you have shared your bad variety. I'll be getting the Baratie soon. But I think it works well as a location/fascade set when you consider the Netflix show. In the anime it's definitely more suitable as a ship set than a location set. But the live-action treats it more like an island/location than a ship so it works for me.

Book IV Prelude Challenge: Category A: Woodland Amphitheater
MKJoshA replied to LordDan's topic in Guilds of Historica
Your amphitheater steals the show. But it's the details that keep you there! I love all the characters you've filled your MOC with. And the two little outhouses are a fantastic touch. -
Book IV Prelude Challenge: Category A: The Bridge Troupe

I really like the sharp corners at the front of the bridge pillars. And your historical undertones inspiring your MOC are great. One thing I'm not a fan of is the Electric Guitar. I know that medieval instruments are few and far between, but having something so out of sync with the rest of the story is a detractor. -

I like your rounded base that shows off the Kali flag. I also really like your knife case. -

Very sleek. The large treads are a nice upgrade. -

The Resistance show would like to differ. Honestly I hope we get some good designs from Starfighter that make their way to Lego form, but I won't hold my breath. -

Those are good sets and I own multiples of all of them except Peridea. But they feel more limited than what I image truly good locations sets could be. Maybe it's the muted color pallet, maybe it's the higher price tag, I'm not sure. Corridors are fine, but they are not what I would choose to make the focus of Star Wars location sets. Give me a modular cantina, rebel base, or imperial stronghold over corridors any day. -

You clearly don't poke your head into the castle section of the forum Castle location sets are great for MOCers because you can turn your second gatehouse into the dungeon and your third blacksmith into an armory using the same pieces. Star Wars could really use more location sets. Sure, you can army build. But where to you put all those armies? Right now, grey baseplates. Imagine if they had a "cheap" hanger sets where you could park your 5th X-Wing? Or a set of modular Yavin rooms that attach like Harry Potter's castle? You could build out a whole base for your rebel army. There are so many cool/fresh ideas Lego could try to keep the theme lively. But instead all we get are ship repeats and over-priced battle packs. -

I've been on vacation. That, and Star Wars news has been quiet and I'm finding this discussion interesting. As long as it doesn't get out of hand it can continue till we have more news. -
Maybe we need to start a trading thread here on EB for Poster swaps...

Even if Lego can't make a TIE Avenger tied to Andor due to licensing rules (which is speculation), they could always make one for Rebuild the Galaxy. Que the Jurassic Park meme... TIE Avenger, uh, uh, finds a way. -

To summarize some more of my thoughts regarding the Death Star, it may be "worth" $1000 going by just piece count and number of figures. But it doesn't look like it's worth $1000. When the Millennium Falcon came out as the most expensive Lego set ever it looked and felt like it was worth holding that status. It was worthy of the price tag. The Death Star set is not. -
Here's hoping I don't get a bunch of Don Kriegs I'm really looking forward to collecting all of the wanted posters and don't want to have to buy some off Bricklink just because I end up with tons of a single character. For context, I'll be buying all the system sets within the next couple months.

I saw your post in the Star Wars forum. But this is a better place for that kind of question. Looks like Jim has it taken care of. Looking forward to seeing Legoman123 back soon.

And we're back online! Let the comments fly regarding the new Death Star. It looks like a great set. But there is 0% chance I would ever pay $1000 for that. -

I like all the consoles in your control room. Feels like a Battlefront map.
