25c?? We ARE back in the 50s! Great build

Well, I made a Mule, my efforts are here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=78951

As promised, I made this little Mule today from the movie 'Serenity'. It's not exactly what I wanted, but with the parts I had I think it works - I like the little crew! Faster would be better by mjfirefly, on Flickr They want us alive when they eat us. by mjfirefly, on Flickr Boy, it sure would be nice if we had some grenades, don't you think by mjfirefly, on Flickr From left to right in microscale - River, Zoe, Mal and Jayne by mjfirefly, on Flickr For reference is a still from the film showing the mule in action: Mule in action from the film by mjfirefly, on Flickr Full set:

What a great - *Jimmy crack corn, and I don't care* - build!
-
Really like the use of steering wheels as rotors on the white 'craft.
-
What a fantastic use of swords and knives! Love this.
-
I may have a go today on the mule, but it might have to be microscale too...not sure on my brick allowance! The hardest part of the build was getting the aft engine to look the part...not entirely happy, but I think it does the job - could have done with a wider selection of parts to play around with - but managed with what I had I think. It's now nestled next to my Serenity in Reaver disguise model (not Lego) on my shelf - and doesn't look to out of place alongside. Really enjoyed the build, and this 'new' hobby - thanks for all the great contests for inspiration Si-MOCs!

oh, but to dream! Saying that, I might have a go at making a minifig scale one of these: http://firefly.wikia.com/wiki/File:MF-813FlyingMule.png

I'm a big Firefly fan and have always wanted to make my own Serenity. I am very limited for parts, but I think this little microscale 'Serenity' is pretty cute 'What was that?' Is there a relevant thread for hints and tips on photography? I'm very new to this, so anything to help would be fab

Have altered the spider type and think it looks a lot nicer, changed the tank a bit too. Thanks for the comments, helps me out no end to improve my building. What I wouldn't give for a decent camera and light box to take some decent pics though!

thanks, it was tough to decide upon colour but I felt that black rather than yellow was what the spiders would go for. I have a red and green spider, but they looked naff. the larger flickr pics show the whole lot better :-)

Joff_Draeven, on 26 January 2013 - 09:39 PM, said: Quick question, does scale matter for this contest, in that if you use an animal (say a scorpion, mouse/rat, or spider) do you have to imply that the machine they are driving is a minifigure scale. I don't want to give too much away, but invasions of giant things is sort of my microscale idea, would that be permissable? Brilliant, I finished off my 'little'vignette, and it's up now. Ta!

Here is my entry to the Forbidden Animal Planet Contest. The Giant Spider Colony of Arachnos V has had enough of the human incursion into their territory, so decide to attack an outpost on one of the smaller moons orbiting the planet. The humans are taken completely by surprise by the airborne assault, and the outpost is soon ablaze. Defensive cannons and anti-aircraft cannons fire up at the attacking Black Widow Interceptors manned (or should that be 'spidered'?) by the elite Red Guards, but damage to the Spider ships is minimal. Wolf Spider Stealth-Recon Ships flit over the battlefield, directing the Giant Spider Shock Troopers, but this infantry has to contend with the human's Main Battle Tank as it defends the bridgehead. Will the Giant Spiders succeed in their mission to retake their territory, or will the humans 'stamp' out this rebellion? Giant Spiders Attack! by mjfirefly, on Flickr Main Battle Tank - Microscale, with Giant Spider Pilot for reference by mjfirefly, on Flickr 'Wolf'' Spider Recon Ship by mjfirefly, on Flickr More pics can be found by clicking on any of the above pics which will take you to the relevant Flickr set. Thanks!

Here is my Secret Agent Stealth Submarine for the Building Drive, hope it's in time! For those necessary underwater incursions into Enemy Agent territory, the Stealth Sub comes equipped with quiet water drive, but speed propeller for fast getaways! Included in the sub are state of the art communications array, night vision sensor, underwater lamp, torpedo and harpoon firing systems and high-visibility deep pressure safe glass. There is also provision for equipment such as guns, knives, computer briefcases and spare SCUBA and breathing apparatus. Any Agent should be quite at home in this state of the art sub! I was trying to channel Frankie Howerd... Thanks, I really enjoyed making it too. I'm relatively new to it all, suppose I've come back from my Dark Period (is that what it's called?) when I left Australia, and a 4' x 3' tub of Lego, behind over 10 years ago. *sigh* Making up for lost time now!

Please see my Hot Sausage Shop for the 'Expand the Winter Village' Contest. This MOC has been playtested by a 10 year old girl, who absolutely loves all the features! (and keeps eyeing off the prizes too!!) Winter Village Expansion - Hot Sausage Shop with Xmas Hamper Delivery Van, Roast Chestnut Seller & Snowball Fighters by mjfirefly, on Flickr The sausage shop is a two storey affair, complete with attached pig sty, just right for making fresh sausages... There is a total of 8 minifigures, including Sausage Sellers (2), Children throwing snowballs (2), Roast Chestnut Seller, Delivery Man, Business Man and Santa. The Sausage Shop roof can be lifted (using the Xmas Tree decoration) for play access. We use a proper log fire to cook our sausages by mjfirefly, on Flickr The interior of the Sausage Shop, a light brick provides the 'log fire' look. Xmas Hamper Delivery by mjfirefly, on Flickr Xmas Hamper Delivery, the hamper includes two bottles of Christmas drink, a carrot, parsnip, and cherries. The trolley can be placed inside the delivery van for ease of transportation, as of course can the hamper. Roast Chestnut Seller by mjfirefly, on Flickr Roast Chestnut Seller, the cart can be pushed along by the seller. Snowball Fight by mjfirefly, on Flickr Children throwing snowballs under a holiday decorated lamppost, this piece can be slotted onto the corner of the Sausage Shop so as it appears as if the children are peeping around the corner of the building to throw snowballs. More pictures of this MOC, showing the lifting roof, upstairs fireplace and other details can be found on the Flickr set by clicking any of the pictures.

I've added a more atomspheric first shot, more pics can be seen on the flickr feed linked to at the bottom of the first post - the build is within the 16x16 stud limit, with a slight 3 stud overhang from the driller. Hope it meets standard :-)
