That was a rule Def put in place in his Mafia School, and I'm bringing it back for this one. It should make things run a little quicker.

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return - Sewers
Kintobor replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
"On the contrary, Rook, I can't wait." Karie slyly sent Rook a grin as she opened the door to the Herald. She turns to the rest of the party. "We've got what we came for. Let's go." -

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return - Sewers
Kintobor replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
Karie removes her hands from the table and looks to Pretzel. Her tone, her eyes, everything about her reads seriousness. She would not tolerate an act of insubordination, not now. This was not the usual playful Karie. She spoke loudly enough that Rook could hear. "Do not mistake my clinging to an ideal, a hope if you will, for my adoration and idolization of Heroica. Heroica has become rotten to it's core. What happened at the tavern, nay, what happened at Heroica Hall should not have happened, that I can see and will admit. Heroicans participated in the house conflict, and I have reason to believe that several of them still vie for power. I'll admit, as we stand here I have a larger ambition in mind than simply usurp the Founders. I want to be a Veteran of Heroica Hall so I can tear that building down piece by piece, brick by brick and rebuild something meaningful in its place. Heroica is tainted with people who flaunt with demons, grasp and cloy at power, and watch greedily as money flows into their pockets. That must come to an end. Immediately. Heroica Hall was a cesspit for corruption: a breeding ground for the wealthy and elite to cultivate loyal subjects that will supple at the teat of wealth and power. Should I get the chance, that comes to an immediate end. I do not idolize Heroica Hall, I idolize what Heroica Hall could be- what it has to be if this city is to survive. If this city wants to idly sit by as the so-called Founders come trooping in merrily, than perhaps its best to leave this city to rot in the corruption and greed that has consumed it." Karie glares at Rook. It was clear she was not getting any help from him or the Herald. She'd find a way to rally the citizens, with or without the Heralds help. She held herself back from letting Rook have the brunt of her verbal assault, but it was obvious she was agitated. "Thank you for your time, Mr. Rook. I look forward to your apology in the near future." Karie turned to the door. "Anyone who wants to stay here can do so at their own risk." -

Karie frowns, her hands still on the table. Obfuscate. Dodge. Poke. She didn't like where this was going. "That's a lot of unlesses, Rook. Even you must admit that it'd take quite a stretch to believe that. Why do you trust the Founders? What have they shown you to make them trust you? Better yet, why do you trust the Watch? The Watch has been as corrupt as Heroica before the coup and has been complicit in the house's affairs longer than Heroica has, and now that they line up with the Founders you suddenly forget what they've done? The Fae One is missing, and yet you continue to dodge this point. Why? The Founders swoop in just as the Houses leave and shut Heroica down: doesn't that seem a little strange to you, Rook? Why would they remove all Heroicans, including ones that did not choose a side during the conflict with the houses? This whole thing reeks of something foul, and I have it on good conscious that there's more to the Founders than just them being immortal. These aren't the Founders. They cannot be the Founders. The only reason Heroicans cannot die is because the Nornalis protecting them was set in place hundreds of years after the Founders died. The only one that I could imagine being alive, the Fae One, isn't in the picture in yesterday's paper. Why? Your article claims the original founders of Heroica return to bring hope to the city, but you forgot one important detail: not all the founders are there. If the Founders truly did return to bring hope to this city, why is the one most likely to be still alive not in this photo?" Karie slammed her hands on the desk for dramatic flair, looking Rook in the eyes. -

Invitations were mailed posthaste to several members of the Eurobricks community. Only a few would answer the call to travel to the Mad Monster Mansion for Kintobor's first annual Costume Party. Food and music were promised, as was a good time for all who attended, so long as you were in costume. However, Mad Monster Mansion was no ordinary place: rumours abound of ghosts and ghouls haunting the decrypted manor, as well as a fortune in gold. Needless to say, tonight would be most interesting... -Players- Bride of Dracula, costumed by Lady K Dr. Frankenstein, costumed by Tariq j Dracula, costumed by Rider Raider Frankenstein's Rocker, costumed by LegoRacer1 Gorgonzola, costumed by fhomess Maws, costumed by mediumsnowman The Mutant Fly, costumed by Steamdemon The Mummy, costumed by Actor Builder The Swamp Creature, costumed by KotZ The Werewolf, costumed by LegoMonorailFan) Wicked Witch, costumed by Lord Duvors Zombie Bride, costumed by Khscarymovie4 Zombie Groom, costumed by Forresto Zombie Cheerleader, costumed by jluck --- Rules (These are 95% the same as the EB standard; deviations from the normal EB rules are struck-through) (Also, thanks Def. I'm stealing your rules.) 1. Each player will be given a character to play, who will be aligned with either the Town or the Scum. To win the game, the Town must kill off all the Scum, while the Scum needs to outnumber the Town. Third-party (neutral) characters have their own win conditions as outlined in their roles. 2. Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting is mandatory. Voting should be done in the following format; Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format; Unvote: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted. A majority vote is required to lynch a player. Failure to vote will incur a vote penalty the following game day. 3. A game day will last a maximum of 72 hours. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. The day will end when a majority vote has been reached after 72 hours. After the day has been concluded, a night stage will commence, which will last 48 hours. Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 20 hours of the night stage. 3.5. Players may not target the same player two nights in a row, and may not target themselves. 4. The alignment of lynched players, as well as those that died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the next day. 5. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to or from you in PM with the game host, or in PM with any other players. This includes all the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. 6. Do not play the game outside the thread. Similarly, do not post out of character inside the thread. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. 7. If you are dead, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any of the players. Any information you had becomes void, and may not be passed on. 8. You may not edit your posts. 9. You must post in every day thread. 10. If you encounter a problem or have a question, please contact the host via PM 11. Violation of the above rules will result in a 5 vote penalty vote penalty per every 4 living players against you, and death on your second offence. --- Ugh, apparently I managed to get this thing to go up earlier than anticipated... Please ensure that you've confirmed your involvement in the game in this thread by posting here. You've got 48 hours to do so. Also, just so we're all clear: this is a game of Mafia with images done in Lego. The essence of play is Mafia. Roleplaying is allowed, but ultimately this is a game of Mafia. I'll lend a helping hand as we progress through the game, so don't worry if you're a little nervous. Normally there's more new players, but I'll have some advice to help you along the way for those who are playing their first Mafia School. As my first piece of advice, never reveal your role in the Confirmation thread. You're looking to get picked off easily. Just relax and interact with your fellow players before the game begins. Also, please put your character icon either in your signature or as your icon until you are eliminated from the game or the game is over. It'll help players recognize you, and helps add to the atmosphere of the game! PMs are heading out now!

Mafia School- Mad Monster Mansion: Sign Ups
Kintobor replied to Kintobor's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I'll leave sign ups open until midday tomorrow. If no-one signs up, I'll run the game with 14 players. To heck with it- we can run this with 14 right now! Anyone who signs up past this point is in the reserves. I'll be sending out Role PMs within the next 24 hours, as well as setting up some last minute details. Hold on tight: the Mansion is opening soon!- 36 replies

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return - Sewers
Kintobor replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
"I can't say we've ever met." Karie responds honestly. "If we have, it might've been in passing. I tend to not follow about in crowds." Karie squints her eyes at Rook, trying to figure out what he wants. She has a good idea, but her lack of information on the strange orc makes question herself. "I do, however, find your sudden faith in the Founders to be quite odd. Tell me, what about them strikes you as trustworthy? Five dead Heroicans show up out of nowhere and suddenly this city falls behind them, lock in step? Where did they come from? How did they get here? Where is the Fae One? For someone who claims to love hard hitting journalism, you seem to have forgotten some key facts." Karie lays her hands down on the table. "Heroica turned into a rotten hive of scum and villainy because of the meddling of the houses, and it's turned into something that I honestly don't know what to make of. I want information you have so I can get to the bottom of this, and figure out if we truly need to worry about the new regime, because if you aren't, I will. If you tell me who Frustrated Flying Filly is, perhaps the two of us can come to some kind of agreement? Cash? Information? A story for your readership?" Karie looked Rook in the eyes as she laid down her argument, using her diplomacy to hopefully win him over. -

"I couldn't agree agree more." Karie replied. "Though, if what I heard was correct, some heroes decided to stay out of the house's petty politics. They believed that Heroica shouldn't become involved in such squabbles, for they believed that the corruption rife within the houses would leech into Heroica itself. What's your opinion on the Heroicans who're currently being hunted down in the city? You can be honest with us. I'm no snitch." Karie inquires, leaning on the desk. -

Got around to watching Whisper of the Heart and The Cat Returns. There's still a bunch of Studio Ghibli films I need to see, but I'm glad to scratch another two off the list. The Cat Returns was cute, breezy, and didn't stay around any longer than it needed to. It was also surprisingly short, at a mere 75 minutes. The visuals were immensely fun, the action first rate, and the slapstick top notch. All in all, a perfectly fine, charming little film. Whisper of the Heart was awesome. I'm more used to Ghibli's more fantastical films, so watching them do something more grounded like a coming of age story set to the backdrop of your average Japanese high school was eye-catching, and from there the films endearing characters and stunning animation steal the scenes. Ghibli always did stellar work during their backgrounds, and their urban city and skies never looked so good. Scenes of cars screeching to a halt or swerving out of the way as characters rush across the street with reckless abandon are full of charm and energy. The film ends a little abruptly, but looking back, I really love the ending to Whisper of the Heart. I love the movie in general. Give it a watch if you've never seen it.

I appreciate your guys support. Really, it means a lot. I've contacted Dragonator with a request to front page the sign up thread, but seeing as how it's been ages since a Mafia game has been advertised through the front page, I don't know what success it will have. I also have not received word from Dragonator since I left him a PM, which was on Saturday. We have enough players that at this point I can feasible run a game of The Resistance if push comes to shove, but I'll only run it if there's enough interest, and most everyone's on board. So, I'll ask the question, is there an interest in playing The Resistance?- 36 replies

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return - Sewers
Kintobor replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Sure. One could say that." Karie replies. "I read into Filly's article and found it well written. They picked up on a story that seemingly went against the grain of the rest of yesterday's Herald: seemingly giving some amount of sympathy to the former Heroicans. Seeing how it was an editorial, I'd like to follow up on the article and ask if they're interested in joining a small union I'm working at starting. Seeing as how there was no name attached to the article, I was hoping you'd provide the name for me. It won't affect your profits, I promise. I don't think I caught a name either. Who might you be?" -

Karie looks around, moving towards the desk. She'd never been inside the Herald, nor had she had any previous encounters with them. This strange orc was an unfamiliar face to her. "Actually, we're not here to submit an article. I'm looking for some information and my group and I feel like you could be able to assist us. An article was published yesterday by a Frustrated Flying Filly. You wouldn't happen to know who that person is, would you?" Karie asked. -

Karie snags the scroll off of Pretzel before handing over her Skull Mask to Throlar. "Alright, Vind, let me see what I can do here." Karie casts her Scroll of Magic Disguise on Vind, trying to make him look like an unassuming human traveller, complete with a cloak with a hood. She cast the spell hoping it to last for twenty minutes, expending twenty ether. She then drinks two grand tonics. "It's an illusion, so just try not to touch too much, or interact with a lot of people seeing as how it's merely tricking the eyes, and nothing else." -

"Figure out what you guys need to do and let me know when you're ready. This isn't rocket science, and we can always smoke bomb our way out of a problem. If any of you guys need some assistance, let me know. I can cast an illusion spell on you to make you look a little more inconspicuous." OOC: I'm going to give the green light to proceed in 24 hours. Get ready before then. -

Cool. I just needed some clarification. What would you give the Glittering Dress? I assume it's a little too flashy, but if Karie can go all out on a persona or a false identity, she will. Karie removes her Encore Plectrum and dons her Trickster's Mask of the Elf, brushing her hair about to ensure her new pointy ears were visible. She then removed her face paint and domino mask. -

Kintobor replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
Karie moves with the rest of the group and motions for a huddle. "Right, everyone, I've had my fair share of running around city back alleys in attempts to not be seen. Some of it is from my pickpocketing days, some of it's from my time with the Syndicate. Stay light on your feet and avoid making eye contact: remember, we move as one. If any of you are feeling a little nervous: good. Adrenaline can be a hel of a motivator." Karie checks out her own inventory, checking to see what she has on her that could help both herself and her party out, downing two grand tonics as she did so. Starting class was rogue: +1 Advanced class was rogue/cleric: +1 OOC: Brace yourself. When you say torsowear such as armour is that strictly metal armour or is that all torsowear? Also, what about any Trickster's Masks and the Skull Mask in my possession? Would they affect the die roll? Thirdly, if Karie were to remove her face paint and domino mask, would that affect the die roll? I'm merely fielding out my options here, WBD.
