Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return - Sewers
Kintobor replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
Karie bows. "Very well. Please give me a moment inside to inform my colleagues of your arrival. It'll only be a moment. Some of them are a little jittery and solemn, and I don't want them to feel as if you're being intrusive, despite the circumstances." Karie spoke in a diplomatic tone. She hoped to prepare something with the rest of her group, even if it was to have them hide while the investigation went through. -
Really love the use of older and off coloured pieces for the warehouse. It really gives it this worn, aging look that's hard to pull off. The parts usage is also really wonderful. I noticed some Harry Potter and Ninjago pieces for the butchered fish and sea life, and they really helped make the scene pop. I'm also really in love with the little vending machine next to the warehouse. It's got some great SNOT techniques and I'd love to see how you built it if only to put one on my own harbour scene. Great stuff!

I had thought of hosting a Star Wars themed Mafia, but maybe that'll be shelved if one's being hosted. I'd be more than interested in joining! -

"They were... until last night." Karie replied. She needed a lie, and fast. "Someone broke into our laboratories last night and attempted to steal some of our items. We're doing an inventory check and a diagnostic on our automatons as we speak to ensure everything is under control, and everything is accounted for. I apologize for not bringing this up sooner. We wanted to keep this under wraps and inform you with a full report should there be an issue tomorrow, but with you here now it's causing us a bit of stress. We don't want anything out on the street that might be harmful to the city or it's residents. We cannot hand them over to you in their current state until we are sure that nothing is missing off of them." -

“Perhaps we can come to a compromise on this issue? The automatons need some time before we can hand them over. Anything done now will potentially lead to a dangerous situation. You said so yourself, these automatons are a risk to the city, and we must be careful about how we go about this. If they view anyone entering the facility as a threat, they will attack, and that is the last thing either of us want. You can have the automatons today, but can you come back later? I’ll tell my colleagues to wrap things up and hurry up with your request.” Karie spoke diplomatically to the Mountain. She did not know if the automatons were capable of such power as she claimed, but she assumed if the Council had an interest in them, than they must be powerful. -

Karie furrowed her eyebrow. ”I can perhaps understand your concern, but this seems a little rushed. We were preparing to have this all ready for you by tomorrow. You must understand that we here at Tritech wish to cooperate with the Council to the best of our abilities, but the automatons are not ready, and we work on a tight schedule. I am sorry, but I’m going to have to ask you to return tomorrow.” Karie then bows in respect to the Mountain, raising herself up afterwards. She wanted to ensure she could see him. “Please understand that I, nor anyone else in the Tritech Company mean you or the Council any disrespect.” -

Karie internally sighed in relief. The ruse had so far been successful. “I’m sorry. Some of my colleagues are slightly perturbed over handing over our automatons to you.” Karie replied. “You must understand, some of my friends here at Tritech view our creations as not just machines made of steel. They feel like they’re losing friends. What brings you here today, sir? And what’s with the armed men?” -

"Oh. Well, that'll do then." Karie was not entirely sure how convincing this outfit looked, but she hoped to get the Council off the Tritech company's back. There was no time like the present. "Be ready incase this goes poorly. You'll know if it goes poorly, trust me. Break a leg, everyone." Karie moves to the door and steps outside to meet the Council members. "Good day. I thank you for being patient. What do we owe the pleasure of your visit?" -

Karie downs two grand tonics and uses her scroll of Scroll of Magical Disguise, using up twenty ether to disguise herself to look like Monalisa. "Mind if I borrow your glasses?" She motions to Monalisa. "You'll get them back. Stay inside, and don't do anything irrational unless things turn south." Karie shouts to the crowd outside, adjusting her voice. "Hold on a minute! Give me a moment! I'm coming!" -

"Let's not get into a fight." Karie says. "They're not supposed to be here until tomorrow. Let's remind them of that. Monalisa, do I have your permission to use your likeness? I'm going out there and I'm going to try to either stall or get them out of here." -

"I like how you think." Karie cuts in. "We're-" Karie looked at Throlar, shaking her head. "Well, that's the long and short of it. My name is Karie Alderflask, and if you're interests are in ensuring these automatons do not fall into the hands of the Council, than perhaps we have a mutual interest. Mind if I ask as to where these automatons will be taken?" Karie asks. -

Are there any current plans to run a game of Mafia? I'm thinking of running a game of The Resistance in a bit if there's interest, seeing as how last time I couldn't get 15 players for a Mafia School game. -

Karie noted that some of the vocal supporters of the Wolfgang seemed to grow uneasy around her. She drew in a deep breath, exhaling sharply. She felt nervous enough juggling several factions off each other. "I've got nothing against those who support the Wolfgang. You've got your reasons. I won't hold it against you. When I say the Wolfgang will be dealt with, my intention is to dissolve the Wolfgang peacefully. You won't get that kind of action from the Sungold Alliance or the Crescent Union." Karie points out before heading for the door. "We've dawdled here long enough. How about we head to the Tritech company. Lind, I'll get you caught up on what's going on." -

Karie turned to Throlar, letting go of Lind in the process. She stays in her seat and swirls her wine. "Ulric's ambitions to become king have not gone unnoticed by me. Ulric won't see the crown, either, Throlar, but if I'm being honest with myself, out of all the people cloying for the as of yet established throne, he's the one with the most sense. My plan is to negotiate with him once we have Heroica reestablished. We'll get everyone to a negotiation table who still genuinely cares about this city, and we'll figure out what happens next. After that point, I want Ulric out of the city. Killing him at this point would be political suicide. And I'm not against any union or alliance, simply the two that dragged us into this situation. Although the Tritech Organization was Ji Pei backed, with them out of the city, hopefully we can come to some sort of arrangement. The Wolfgang are a problem, and they will be dealt with, but I've made a promise to Ulric that we would ensure his protection if he saw to ours, and I intend to keep my end of the bargain, as much as it pains me to do so. I do not think Ulric to back down from this deal, but if he does... I'll gut him myself." Karie took a long drink from her alcoholic beverage, finishing it off. "We need to get going." -

Karie grabbed Lind's arm and squeezed, her nails digging into his arm. "Let me make something very clear. I understand if you wish to come with us instead of checking on my family. I do not oppose that, the more help we can get the better. If I so much as get a whiff that you want to support any bloody union or alliance, you can kiss any support you receive from me goodbye. The Crescent Union is what got us here in the first place, and I fully intend to ensure that a bickering house feud does not become a reality again in this city." Karie loosens her grip on Lind's arm. She questioned if Lind would be a liability or not, but from here on out beggars couldn't be choosers for support. "There's more at play here than just a house feud, Lind. I have reason to believe this city's in grave peril, and not just from the Founders. Demons, heroes cloying for power, it's all starting to unravel like the tangled knot this city's become. The Crescent Union is gone, Lind. The Shadeux, the Guild of Invision, and the Ji Pei are all but gone. I need you to put your faith not in some concept of a king, but in restoring Heroica so we can ensure that Eubric does not devolve into anarchy once this is over. Do I have your support, Lind? Or are we going to have a problem?" -

"One could say recent happenings haven't been too kind, Lind." Karie remarks. She taps on the bar as she waits for a potential drink. "Heroica has seemingly disbanded, Lind. Not by choice, but by force, and what you see here is a small portion of what's trying to stop the insurrection in Heroica Hall." Karie smiles at Lind. "You took to heart what I told you. Good. I'm not like most people here. I believe in second chances, and I believe you may be of use to me." Karie peers around, grabbing a copy of the Herald and scribbling on it. She rips it and hands it to Lind. "This address is a very important residence, in that it's mine. It's where my family is in Eubric. I need you to tell my husband that I am safe, and that there's no need to fret. Tell him to keep the door locked and disown me, if he has to. If you tell him I sent you, he should believe you, but if he doesn't, tell him that happiness lives in a quiet world. He'll hopefully understand." "Think you can do this for me, Lind?" -

Karie turned to the rest of the group. "I'll, uh, meet up with you guys in a moment. Give me a minute here." Karie takes a seat a little ways away from Lind. She motions the bartender over. "Falana Wine, if you've got any." Karie looks to Lind. She felt cold looking him over. Lind was always a wild card. She never really trusted him, but with everything going on, it was best to have her bases covered. She knew Lind at least looked up to her, and Karie had tried her damnedest to leave a positive impression on the newbie hero. Even just one last talk with Lind could maybe help him out. "Lind. Long time no see." -

Karie strokes her hand through her hair, thinking their options through. "I've got nothing when it comes to dealing with the Tritech Company. I've had a much better record dealing with the Zeigfried's than those Ji-Pei scientists. However, when it comes down to it, I'd prefer not dealing with either group. The more promises we wind up making, the more back-pedalling we'll wind up doing once this over. We cannot have Eubric revert back to the same place we were all in before this debacle... but, if I had to choose between the two, at least the Tritech Company can feasible disassociate itself from the Ji-Pei. The Ziegfried's... I never got a good read on them." -

"We can send it back to Värtland for all I care. It's too dangerous sitting in Eubric, and my intention is to remove it." Karie crosses her arms. She sighs deeply. As much as she wanted to talk the talk, she had to talk the talk, and right now she needed Asa's support. "But that's a bridge we can burn once this is all over. Right now we need to get it out of the Founder's hands. Asa, where would you go to garner public support that's not the Herald?" -
Mafia School- Mad Monster Mansion: Conclusion
Kintobor replied to Kintobor's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Here it is, my notes on the actions performed, as well as everyone's role: As you can see, Day One more or less crippled the Town. The Town Doctor was lynched right off the bat, and the Town Cop murdered by the Mafia. From there, the scum managed to shift around and boil while the Vigilante went right into killing. Had the Mafia not turned around the vote on Actor Builder, the Town might've had a chance to move onto Day 4.- 30 replies

Karie grits her teeth. It's as she feared. The Founders had been manipulating things behind the scenes. The Founder's web of deception was beginning to unravel, but it was doing so slowly. She'd have to pick up the pace. "I don't know how much this helps, but Ulric's shared his intention to back Heroica and not the Founders. As much as I personally don't trust the Wolfgang or Ulric, he's been cordial so far. He handed this to us. " Karie hands Asa the stone from Byblos. "We were given this by Ulric and the Wolfgang. Apparently it's from Byblos. I've got a theory on it, but perhaps your insight might be helpful on this. From what we've gathered, the Fae One is missing from all group photos of the Founders, and I don't believe this to be a coincidence. The stone describes a "blinding light now overrun". The Faerie has been described to me as a blinding light, and I take the "A dark seed planted below the sun" to mean something is brewing underneath the ground. From those two points, I believe that the Faerie has been overrun, and the reason the Fae One isn't present is because the Fae One is actively opposing the Founders. We're still trying to piece the rest of it together. "Where once was joy and never glum" has me puzzled. There's several places that could fit that bill, especially in the city. I'm also worried about the capital t in "They". There's a reason for that. It's not meant to be just random somebody, but someone or something is coming. What are your thoughts on this, Asa?" -
