Heroica RPG- Quest #122: Invasion of the Sheep Snatchers
Kintobor replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
The lone man working on the cart looks up at the party. "Eeey-" "Oh no, not until me and Statler are finished with this!" "This is the last time I ride with you, you old coot!" "Who are you calling old? You have enough wrinkles to be be some sort of undead!" Purpearl could estimate that the party was about halfway to Hoogan. Looking around, the only other animal the gnome can see is the horse that was pulling the cart. It seems the old men's lack of hearing and generally boisterous insults made his comment impervious to hear. "Eeyu-" "Indeed, I could use your assistance." Waldorf replies, butting in again. "You've heard this buffoon, he's the one responsible for loading the cart up too much, causing the cart to bust! Help me knock some sense into this fool!" "Listen to this idiot! It's more than obvious Waldorf's to blame for this! Come and help me slap some sense into this idiot!" The two older men rolled up their sleeves and seemed ready to fight. The younger man simply rolled his eyes and groaned as he worked away at the cart. It seems the party would have to take sides and sort this out with a traditional fist fight. QM Note: I'll note right now, it doesn't matter whose side you take or if you get knocked out, you will not fail the quest if all heroes are KO'd. You won't be using spells or weapons, just your Level and any power bonus. You will gain experience if you participate. Now, pick your sides! It's time to get ready to rumble! -
Holy smokes that car looks amazing! The figures are also beautiful! Fred looks great and Shaggy and Scooby are spot on. The zombie looks really nice too, he even seems to have some glow in the dark parts. I guess the only thing I'm not too fond of is the sticker across multiple parts for the "Mystery Machine" logo across the side, but I'm probably going to keep the model together it's just that nice. The mansion also looks great. And now seeing the rest of the meddling kids, I'm sold. Curse you, Lego, and your ability to pander to my nostalgia!

Perhaps not. I can't say I'm an expert either, but it's what I heard. However, what do adults want to see? There's this stigma with animation that if it's not CGI, it's kids stuff, which is absolutely rubbish since I just recently purchased Akira and that is not a movie I'd show to a ten year old. It's partially Shrek's fault, in that since then adults seem to think that if a film's animated with CG, it's going to be aimed at both kids and adults, and it's sort of true that since then there's been a shift to CGI. I'll agree with the big name actors who can't voice act. That's a problem. I will disagree with you on traditional animation being "fresh for decades". What about films like Toy Story? Is it not still being watched 20 years after it's initial release and adored by the general public? And there was garbage during the 80's and 90's, for both film and TV. Quack Pack, Bonkers, the list goes on. I'll add I'm not a 90's kid; I spent most of my youth during the 2000's, so saying "we were lucky to live in different times" is sort of exclusive. The 90's had Batman and Gargoyles and Ducktales. The 2000's had Avatar: the Last Airbender and Kim Possible and Danny Phantom. There were some excellent animated shows during the 2000's, just during the first half of the decade. Maybe it's a generational gap, maybe I'm missing something, but I personally think we're in a better position now when it comes to animation then we were five years ago. We're getting some incredibly good western animated shows, unlike the drivel of Spongebob clones that were constantly airing. That we can agree on. Live action, unfunny, laugh track including sitcoms involving "wacky teenage hijinx" needs to disappear. Right now. Also, to not wholly derail this: Akira. Saw it, loved it, not a movie for kids, though.

Heroica RPG- Quest #122: Invasion of the Sheep Snatchers

The party begins their hike up the mountain, the task more challenging then they thought. The ledge was big enough for a cart to follow, but the uneven rocks occasionally made their footing wobbly, and the potential for a sprained ankle became a possible. The party soon heard bickering and arguing coming close by, and they were soon greeted to a curious sight. Two older men stood at the back of the cart, while a younger, much more masculine man was working on repairing the cart. The two older men seemed to be at each other's throat through verbal assaults. The younger man just seemed to be focused on the cart's broken wheel. A horse whinnies around the front of the kart. "You old codger! I told you! Don't say I didn't! I told you to mind how much we load into the cart, and now look what's happened! The amount we took to Shelbric has strained the cart's wheels, and now it's out of place! Remind you of something, like every time you get into a bed with a woman?!" "Why am I at fault here, it was you who wanted to take this much stuff up, not me, you sheep shagger!" The argument seems ready to devolve into a fight before the two men notice the party. "See what you've done, Waldorf? Now these people can't go up to wherever it is their going, you old buffoon!" "I don't care what you tell me Statler, your merely trying to cover yourself with your childish fantasy! You broke the cart, just like you break everything you touch. That probably explains why you've got no Johnson!" The two continue to yell and berate the other, but the party's path was blocked. What would the party do? -
Karie looks between the open wound and Masson before deciding to revive Masson from the back row. "Forgive me, Em, but this'll help us in the long run!" She yells out to the eye patched Warden.

"Well... that sounds like it wouldn't be a bad idea." Annienal signs up for Quest #126. "Hopefully I can find a somewhat better shield. Although, it seems like I could write an entire short story about the lack of good shields..." Annienal muses to herself.

It's unfortunately cheaper to make animation with CGI than it is to with hand drawn cels. That being said, there's a bunch of great CGI animated films, just not by Disney. Kung Fu Panda, both of them, How To Train Your Dragon, both as well, and let's not forget The Lego Movie, which won the Critic's Choice Award for best animated movie. Disney's starting to get out of their slump and back into the game. Wreck-it Ralph was awesome, and I actually really liked Tangled. I went into it thinking I'd hate it with a passion, but I absolutely loved it! Not going to bring up that one film though that everyone seems to gush over but I think is just okay. Pixar's the company I'm worried about, not Disney. Monster's University was okay at best, and Cars 2 was just horrible. It's a shame too, because their track record is amazing, but it seems their latest films have hit the bar. Maybe they just got lucky, which is a shame because Up is my favourite movie, period. Anyways, I guess I'll talk about Tokyo Godfathers, because holy cow is it amazing. I'm surprised it's not been dubbed in english yet, since it was released over ten years ago, but if you can find this film subbed, watch it. It's a slice of animated heaven about three homeless people in Tokyo, the three being an alcoholic middle aged man, an older teenage girl, and a transgender woman, who find a baby in the trash on Christmas day and spend the next few days trying to track down the parents. It's not only very heart warming and occasionally sombre, but laugh out loud funny in many spots. It's become one of my favourites ever since I watched it during the holidays, and I can't recommend it enough. It's one of the most entertaining holidays films I've yet to come across. Big thumbs up!

"Hoot hoot! <Oh, quite regularly. Usually a Hinckwell cart will trundle up the mountain twice a month and sell goods to the people of Hoogan that they can't get otherwise. It's good business sense to try and market to as many people as you can. I should be off now, you know. I hope I don't have to repeat anything I said. Farewell, sir Matthais, and may our paths cross some other time!>" Owlowiscious flaps his wings and flies off, away from the mountain until he's out of sight. -

"Hoot hoo! <I see. Hmm. To be most honest, I don't stick around to figure out who them are, but the sheep talk about them.>" "Hooo." Lind couldn't understand the owl because he didn't speak owl. -
Honestly, this may take a chunk out of my wallet. If the sets are as good as the descriptions are, these may be the sets I focus on this year. Definitely picking up the Mystery Machine and the Mansion for sure, and perhaps the Lighthouse. Honestly, I just want to see some images, but I'm really surprised so far!

"I'm just your relieved you're okay. I... um, hope you manage to find, um, something to replace it." Annienal smiled, somewhat relieved. She felt sorry for Vind, but at least he was alive. She frowned somewhat when the Half Giant asked about her recent quest. "It's... it's complicated. Although the quest was a success... I don't know, Oberro Bonaparte's wife is not someone I would trust. She claims that the aoi of Xu are vile creatures, but having met Jun Ji Pei, he seemed an honourable enough man with enough ability to listen to reason. I took the reputation with the Bonapartes if only because I felt I didn't want to betray my employer, and I feel as if Oberro is legitimately trying to keep these ports safe. I don't trust Xsenna." Annienal looked awkwardly about. "I... um, okay. I guess that's one way to look at the story..." Annienal couldn't really find the words to explain her argument without angering Miderun. She had made a mental note to not make Miderun angry. "Should we... um, maybe sign up for the Fields? I don't really want to stay for very long, but we could at least get some experience and some neat things out of it! Or, um... you know, if you guys want to..." Annienal asked Miderun and Vindsval.

Karie heals Johon from the back row. If Johon is already healed, she tosses Masson a Grand Potion. "Come on, we're doing okay!"

QM Note: Noted. Surprised I didn't do that early, because I swear I did. Once Throlar throws his two cents in (it's a two to one vote, and since the party leader wants to bury the body we'll be going with his say, but I still want to give Duvors a chance to speak up), I'll move you guys along.- 372 replies

Heroica RPG- Quest #122: Invasion of the Sheep Snatchers
Kintobor replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
Looking up the trail, Purpearl doesn't see any traps present, but of course perhaps one was further up the trail. Upon listening to Lind, the owl seems to get somewhat excited, as it shifts on the rock it had rested on and began flapping its wings before speaking to Matthais. "Hooo-hoo! Hooooo, hoooot! Hooot, hooo, hoot! <Oh, you can hear me? I was worried I might be stuck here without anyone to talk to. I go by many names, but Wise Old Owl seems to be the one most people call me, but my full name is Owlowiscious. Oh, well it has been many a season since I've seen men armoured in such splendid armour, and although I do fly around the mountain and see many things, the last time men of your calibre of strength came here... oh my, it must have been thirty moons ago, eh wot. Now, as for individuals going up the trail, the Hinckwell cart has already come back down, yes that was yesterday... oh, yes! There was that one cart that trundled up the mountain! Three men from Hoogan were on it with an empty cart. I believe they sell sheep's wool in Shelbric on occasion, and they were heading back up about an hour ago. They should be back in Hoogan already, but why are you heading to the Sheep Tribe's village? Unless... oh, you've been hired to deal with them. Now then, I don't think I got your name, young master gnome, do you mind sharing it with me?>" QM Note: I see no Medal of Glory in your inventory, Lind, so I assume you mean the Anniversary Medal? Check your renewed stats, mainly Purple and Lind. I'll get you guys further down the trail either later today or tomorrow. Annienal grabs her book delicately, looking it over before nodding and putting it in her pack. She sits down and curiously looks at Miderun. "Oh? And how so? Not that I'm, um... disagreeing with you, of course. I was, um... just curious." Annienal replied, not wanting to upset her new friend. Annienal gave a small smile as she looked for Vind, before she looked in shock at his missing arm. "Vindsval? Are... are you okay?"Annie sounded legitimately concerned, fear dripping from her mouth.

... Or did he. Eric soon realizes that Throlar has the cup in his possession, seeing as how the five various objects circled Rollinger's death bed. Throlar tries to heft the paladin's body up, but it's still too heavy to lift alone. It'd be pretty hard to convince people it wasn't a dead body should they encounter someone at the Weeping Inn or on the road with all of the deep and bloody wounds staining his back. Would the party take Rollinger's body?- 372 replies

Taking his shovel in hand, Siercon digs around the sign, not realizing that the signs board was indeed showing. Perhaps his hood was down to low? Much to his dismay, he finds nothing in the snow worth any value. Siercon then takes to reading the sign. After reading the sign, Siercon begins to listen in on the snowy owls curious monologues. "Hoo... Hooo..... Hooooo... <Hmmm.... armoured warriors... haven't seen their sort in a long time... wonder where they're from... should I ask them?... maybe they can't hear me...>" Lind squints his eyes and tries to make out the runes while copying them on a piece of paper... but it seems like they're too nuanced and detailed to fully replicate. Perhaps he could find out more about the shield in the village of Hoogan? -

Beginning with the mushroom, Lind doesn't find anything out of the ordinary about it. It's just a plain old, somewhat oversized mushroom. Noticing the flag, Lind can see multiple others like it dotting the path. The flags seemed to mark the trail up the mountain. Looking at the shield, it seems worn and old, as if it was hung along time ago. Even if Lind wanted it, he couldn't possibly reach it. Some runic scriptures seem to have been carved into the shield, although without any knowledge in the runes, Lind can't read what they say. -
Annienal felt slightly discomforted when Lind kissed her on the cheek, but just sat there, not sure what to say. She felt nervous, unsure of what to do next. She turned around to say something, but Lind was already gone. She nervously got off her stool and signed up for Quest #126. She noticed Miderun hanging around the board. "Oh, uh, hey Miderun! So, anything new going on?"

I feel so confused. Is my virtual husband really who I thought he was?

Ulysses Trail. Looking up, the party could see the trail spiral up the mountain, leading to what looked like a small village. A large wooden structure marked the beginning of the hike up the mountain, while a wooden sign sat nestled in a patch of snow. A fluffy white owl nestled on a rock, eyeing the party occasionally before hooting to no one in particular. QM Note: Hey guys! Welcome to Invasion of the Sheep Snatchers. Check your stats and make sure they're alright, if not, let me know. I think you guys know the drill by now, but if you want to check something out, just bold it. Let's get started!
