Really nicely done. Any idea how to get this working on a RC/PF track?

Wonderfull idea. Simpel but effective. I had not seen it before, so thanks!

I was wondering why there are more bricks available in LDD extended mode than in LDD. I can imagine that in the past this was necessary because not all bricks could be ordered, but nowadays it's only cumbersome, because I have to switch back and forth to get the parts I want in LDD extended, and to look for allowed color combinations in regular LDD. Anyone know why?

Getting started in LEGO Trains - What to buy?
ronenson replied to MrTools's topic in LEGO Train Tech
For starters, I would suggest the 66405 superpack, which contains the 7939 yellow train, but also a 7937 train station, a set of straight tracks (includes flextrack), and a set of curves/switches. It's what we started out with, and never regretted it. It's very complete as a starter set. I don't know if this set is available everywhere though.- 191 replies

Amazing. I really like the underpass, and the depth you put into this whole scenery.
-
Wow, that's quite a collection.

I run four trains on two controllers, and stick them together using technic pins. I use 1x2 plates on the controllers in the color of the train to make it easy to distinguish which knob to turn.

MOC: Rail Clean Train with Vacuum Cleaner and Railbrush

Wow, that's a really nice MOC. -
I also see the sag in the middle. When you look at it from above, it's not so apparent as when I took the picture, so I only saw it when I took the picture. Thanks for pointing it out. I've now corrected that flaw by using a train baseplate 28x6, which is much more stable:

A gap, never thought of that. Definitely an interesting thought.

zephyr1934, what do you mean with "moving the staircase off of the platform"? Do you mean putting the white pillars next to the platform, and effectively lowering the bridge height? Or do you mean putting it next, but with other support material under it? That would be the same as an extended platform. I actually raised the bridge by 1 brick, because I'm experimenting a bit with a double-stacked container of the 7939 size, which had to fit under the bridge. More on that later on.

Looks very nice. How do you intend to switch the loc on?

I also extended my station, but I didn't put additional pillars under it between the two tracks. In real life, there are also no extra pillars in between both tracks. With the widened setup, you can actually serve 3 tracks, and use one platform for two tracks at once. Just added some yellow grills on both sides. I also extended the platforms.

Wow, this one's really cool and impressive.

Thanks all. I tried taking a picture of the doors. I got the idea off some forum (not sure if it was eurobricks anymore), and worked from there. The LDD file shows it all. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/ronenson/nssprinter/ns_sprinter_bombardier.lxf

Great idea. I'm curious what this would look like.

Thanks for the correction Dave, you're right. I forgot about Siemens. Bombardier makes the 4-car model, Siemens makes the 6-car variation.(according to wikipedia, that is)

That looks really good. I'd love to make an such an impressive engine shed at some moment in time, but it'll be the future for now.

(Moc/Wip) Es co. Goliath Pneumatic Locomotive
ronenson replied to Electricsteam's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Looks very promising. If you can somehow can change how far it breaks out in the curve, it would be even better. (Have the top part rotate on top of the bottom) -
Just asking the obvious: did you try other/newer batteries?

Although I haven't posted much yet, I feel my latest moc is worth sharing. I really like the color scheme of the Dutch NS Sprinter (from Bombardier), so it started out as toying a bit with LDD, and ended with me spending evenings on bricklink to get the actual bricks to build it. Today, the last set of bricks arrived, so I finished it, together with my 6-year old son. I've used techniques I saw on this and other forums, and added some of my own. It's deliberately as short and the same exterior shape as the 7938, because that train is also modeled after the Bombardier train. I got tempted to add another car, but felt it should be considerably shorter than my horizon express, and 3 cars (including loc) felt right in comparison. Note the balcony (with fold-up blue chairs, 2nd class with normal blue chairs, and 1st class with red chairs). I've also used jacobs bogeys, including a powered jacobs bogey for the loc. Also note that this train has no toilet, accurately modeled after reality ;-)

Almost all parts are in LDD, except for the battery box. Just use the extended LDD mode.

So PF, is it of any use for realistic operation?
ronenson replied to Locomotive Annie's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Although the battery and receiver do take up a lot of space, the fact that you can control all trains individually is a real plus for me. I simply see it as a challenge to build them in and still have a good looking train. I've been able to convert my old 7760 to PF without a separate battery car, so it can be small. I did use a 9V block battery instead of an official lego battery box though, this saves a lot of space.
