I don't know why this process of finding Black Mesa has to be so, y'know, formulaic. It's like half their life is gone if their academy exploded, so maybe we should let them stay whilst they rebuild. People are people, Aperture is a system, Black Mesa is a system; we're not so different from one another, y'know? I just saw a red hair. Time to get back to My Chemical Redken.

I was expecting the soundtrack to be Led Zeppelin - oh well! Good job on the animation. It's a little jerky here and there, but I suppose that's what you get when you pose minifigs on tile then try to move their arms and heads.

The gently curved shop corner is fantastic, and the dark green and orange (?) everywhere is very nicely done. The varied yet subtle textures you put everywhere are lovely as well. Great job - it looks just like every Barnes & Noble I know.

Wow! The use of the helmet as glass canopy and the circular saws as wheels and suspension is very clever.

If we excluded Egypt from consideration for an Africa theme, then we (in terms of easily recognizable subjects) are limited to West Africa, Central Africa and South Africa. I think South Africa is probably the most politically correct one for TLG to go for, seeing as it could be a safari theme with all sorts of animals (maybe we'd get elephants back?). Central Africa would most likely be a hunting theme because there's lots of jungle there, and people hunt animals in the jungle. It's unfortunate, too, but West Africa would probably not be an option. When I think of West Africa, I think of all the beautiful adobe mosques in what was the kingdom of Mali hundreds of years ago. And TLG doesn't really go for religious images in its sets, does it? In that way, West Africa is left to people to MOC instead. The same goes for Ethiopia, unless TLG wanted to make Bete Giyorgis as an Architecture set!

Great job! The white railing reminds me of the Forbidden City and the painted arch makes me think of the Summer Palace. It's very evocative of Chinese architecture; great job!

Very nice all round! I've enjoyed seeing this MOC evolve over the past few weeks. Great job, ProfessorChaos!

I'll bite. Have you participated in a learning experience of this nature in the past? [_] Yes [X] No [_] Learning? No one said anything about learning If you answered yes to the previous question, did that lead to a successful result? [_] Yes [_] No [_] I'm not sure [X] I'm still not participating in the above learning experience. I'll let you know when it's over. This learning experience may take as much as 6 weeks to complete and a failure to participate can lead to unpleasant results. Will you be available for this entire time? [X] Yes [_] No Do you appear well educated to others? [X] Yes [_] No Are they wrong? [_] Yes [_] No [X] Not Sure Are you currently being observed? [_] Yes [_] No [X] Not Sure Have you ever sued a scientific corporation for an injury you received? [_] Yes [_] No [X] An Injury prevents me from remembering Why do you wish to participate in this experiment learning experience? Please limit your response to no more than 10,000 words. I heard once that submitting yourself to new learning experiences is a way to make friends, but mostly to fight to the death with your competitors. Also, I heard once that asking questions and critical thinking is a way of "engaging the learner". Lastly, if I get poked or harmed physically in any way, it will help cure me of my fear of needles. Did you feel pressured to write more because of the above limitation? [_] Yes [_] No [X] I can't count that high [_] Oops, I didn't read that Thank you for helping us help you help us all. Thank you for offering this wonderful mode of learning. Now, please place the survey on the ground, then lie on your stomach with your arms at your sides. An education associate will arrive shortly to determine if you are qualified for admission. Make no attempt to leave this area. Assume the 'Education Submission Position' or you may miss this wonderful opportunity. I see the sky. Am I doing this wrong? Oh, and we're between banks now, so just make those checks out to cash. Pay to [Cash] the order of [zip, zilch, nada]. You're welcome. -
The lava looks good, but the eagle is great! The way you built its face using the upside-down cheese slope on the beak and minifig arms for its brow is inspired. Good luck in round 5 of MELO!

Your Mocca House looks great with the angled facade! I also like that it is an odd number of windows wide, which lets you have that small corridor through the middle and spiral stairs at the back. Are those little inset balconies on the 2nd floor? Well done on all the buildings!

When I saw the pictures of the set, I didn't realize the bonnet of the limousine looked quite like that. It's in that kind of high, chunky 20s style and I had expected it to be lower. Nothing a mod wouldn't fix. Thanks for the review, and I eagerly await more.

I had a great time looking at some of the entries, but I didn't have time to build because of all my coursework. Had I had more time, I absolutely would have entered. Perhaps if you did another Sci-Fi Month, you could separate the contests into vehicle and building contests, both for MSFC and FAPC, like is done with Fabuland Month at the moment. Congratulations on pulling off two very large contests!

General Discussion and Announcements

I get no search results when I Google that with Eurobricks. Does Google not troll through quotes when it searches posts? I'll bite Mafia School when it comes. -
Good little spacetruck! I like that it looks very similar to the cabs of present-day lorries. Are the magnets supposed to allow the truck to interact with junk it recovers? In that case, it would be like a backwards lorry. That's irrelevant, though. Good job on the thrusters!

I don't think I noticed the pearl gold drainpipes last time you posted this. They look really good! This complete mountain lodge is beautiful - I like that you can't tell there's anything underneath the snow, but there is. Great job!
-
Welcome to Eurobricks! The bustling stands (with all sorts of people) are fun to look through, and I like the inclusion of the house as a set piece for the graveyard scene. Good job!
-
Lovely! It looks perfect, just like it did on TV. I also like the use of Frodo hair for the 4th Doctor.

Thanks for sharing this picture with us! I've never seen a LEGO mold before. It's curious that the parts of the mold that didn't touch the plastic are still very shiny, but the parts that made the bricks are dull. Do you know if they are made of different materials?

All great builds, Captain Nemo. Killer Croc's story was the best, I think. The rooftop romance very well photographed. Well done all round!
-
Interesting build, kbcakir! It has a really weird Old West feel to it, but is in the future / after the apocalypse. I like the water tank - good use of the rubber bands for a flash of colour. I also like the little arrows in the floor of the building. Great work!

Excellent job building the temple and using the wings to represent fire. The many grille plates line up perfectly to make the temple's columns - it's amazing to look at and very difficult to imagine the insides. Nice inclusion of a brick separator in the foreground.

I like the way you made the panelled sides using both studs-out plates and the slope bricks. Good job with the SNOT slopes on top to make the roof shape.
