Sometimes some of these wacky sets have a great price per part. I think some of the complaints have to do with the theme. There were those Star Wars sets a few years ago that let you swap wings and fuselages of a few different vehicles: that's OK. If it's City, apparently it's not. The remix feature doesn't appeal to me particularly to be honest, but the builds themselves look solid. That's a sick submarine!

Sets like the Friends cafe, Yellow Submarine, the original Ecto-1, the Goonies, etc.: all Ideas

I meant more like the promo is meant to be on until tomorrow, and there was no mention of the GWP even when it was possible to backorder the Creel house. I guess it's gone and being memoryholed
-
Now that I've seen the new season and looked up the set, I'm a bit disappointed to see it's already sold out online (and at my nearest physical shop). Any news on whether the GWP is coming back?

I few weeks I presented the Old West Carriage but that was really a distraction from (or accompaniment to) this project. Inspired initially by Eva Miller's boardinghouse in 'Salem's Lot, where Ben Mears rents a room with a view on the top floor. Inspired to an extent also by Heaven's Gate and Blood Meridian. Enjoy! Technique for the chairs taken from Michael Jasper. Thanks for looking!

Now and then I see one of these old Bentleys puttering around and they always turn one's head. Nice build - although I'd recommend blacking out the front grille (including the 1x2 bracket plate), or perhaps instead using the chrome grille tiles.

The colour works really well. It's a creative build and I rather like the minifig-shaped rocks underneath one of the islands. Based on the beard, is it mean to be one of the Ninjago characters?

[MOC] Forestmen's River Fortress | Remaster
jimmynick replied to Kozikyo86's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yep, what a good scaling up and reimagining of the original! I love that you've left the back open to access the interior - really helps with the playability of the whole MOC, and I like your choice to leave some (random?) studs bare on the ground floor to resemble rough stones. Maybe I should do something with my copy of the GWP? -
Thank you all for your kind words! I hope this cutout view helps somewhat - there's no interior as such as all the space is given over to laminating plates together to achieve the SNOT in the 5-wide geometry.
-
At the risk of necro-posting, I've been watching lots of movies lately. The most recent one is the 'ultimate cut' of Watchmen.
-
And even besides any 'negative noise' there are creators out there whose raison d'etre seems to be to get projects built as Ideas or Bricklink sets. Exhausting.
-
Yes, it's remarkably irritating. In the meantime I'm just reporting every such thread I see.
-
Thank you @GeoBrick for the compliment! It's hardly my idea really - I think all the best LEGO cars and trains out there are 7-wide or even even larger (odd numbers only!), and if you squint the wheels make this carriage 7-wide also.
-
I had a good time flicking through the days. Glad everyone's having fun and there was some good suspense to be had!

Senate Duel Playset (75413 Republic Juggernaut Alternate Model)
jimmynick replied to codyaner's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Haha, this is a good rebuild isn't it! Those wheels work perfectly for the Senate pods. What a creative way to think about the set - I love it! -
I've been on a bit of a Western kick lately, and horse-drawn carriages are ubiquitous in the genre. The stagecoach in The Hateful Eight, the cart that Averill gives Ella Watson in Heaven's Gate, Christoph Waltz's dentist carriage in Django Unchained, etc. etc. We've got ourselves a high-class carriage here. I guess it's from a period a bit before There Will Be Blood. Who's the lady? Does she own a stake in the local gold mine? Is she an out-of-towner? Does she, like Ella Watson, run the local bordello? Who knows. As for the driver, I was going for a middle-aged Kurt Russell vibe. Not sure I've pulled it off. Technically, the only thing it's got going for it is the studs-pointing-frickin-everywhere in the body of the carriage. Oh, and it's articulated. Technically. Thanks for looking and I hope you've enjoyed my first MOC in 6 years.

I love how you managed to shape the ship subtly around the large hull pieces. A bit of studs-up, a bit of SNOT, the very stern and the rudder - gorgeous!
-
Well, yes, there is this - but there also high-quality MOCs presented well here on EB, with excellent photos, etc. etc., and at the very end a link to Ideas. Again, my refrain: not everything needs to be an Idea. I can appreciate someone else's artwork on its own merits, and not just by how marketable it is.
-
I may have expressed this opinion before - but clicking on a MOC thread that just had a link to LEGO Ideas inside - not every MOC has to be an Idea! Build things because you find it fun, not because you want the prestige of TLG turning your MOC into a real set. For crying out loud.

The scale of this thing is absolutely mental. It's going so well. Can't wait til the end!

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Interesting. With Darth Jar Jar and characters with names like 'Sig Greebling' it seems it's Star Wars AFOL fanservice, while simultaneously a kids' show. -

Please humour me because I'm a bit out of the loop. What's the deal with the Dark Falcon and Jedi Bob's Starfighter? Has TLG entered its shitposting era? -
Very cute :) the shape and colour of the mining guild ship are perfect for aquanauts
