Call it whatever you want but your truly modifying that LEGO electrical connection. -
Roman Ballista
Boxerlego replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi, that Roman Ballista looks great. Certain Axles can twist pretty well with out breaking. -
YouTube video description: On June 13th, 2013, the AeroVelo's Atlas Human-Powered Helicopter captured the long standing AHS Sikorsky Prize with a flight lasting 64.1 seconds and reaching an altitude of 3.3 metres. The competition was initially opened in 1980, and over the course of the 33 years that followed, dozens of teams from around the world pushed the limits of existing technology in pursuit of this once-thought-to-be impossible goal. Now it is time for LEGO to fly

Custom parts
Boxerlego replied to AKM_76's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The main underlying thought on custom part is at what cost. @ aqaz: Turning one part in to two parts that don't exist. Very good! I cut a thin 1x7 liftarm in half to make two 1x3 thin liftarms for this engine design. That is why I use J-B weld. It is the worlds strongest epoxy. -
People destroying LEGO displays :(
Boxerlego replied to Paul B Technic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That was $25,000 estimated worth of damage no matter how you look at it. You haft to be dumb as a fried potato to put your hands on that with malicious intent. The second you step foot in places like that the Eye in the sky is recording your every move from start to finish. These kids pushed over the wrong LEGO... seriously. -
Custom power supply - an idea
Boxerlego replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The battery pack I used can hold up to 8 AA batteries and is roughly the same size as the 8881 battery box in all dimensions so it was a snug fit where the original battery box was. Because this battery pack was able to hold 8 batteries. This allowed rechargeable AA batteries to provided 9 volts or more to the L motors. For comparison reasons. Just look at how hard the wheels struggle to get up the hill in the end. -
Amphibious Vehicle
Boxerlego replied to Kwon's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Awesome video! I give it a 10. Waterproofing the motor sound awesome. To a degree the M-motor is already waterproof but it is not 100% water tight. The friction pin holes are a direct path inside the motor casing so I imaging that some waterproofing must have been done there to prevent leaks inside the motor case. -
Motor Upgrade

Yes, I've heard of buckyballs. Neat product. -
Motor Upgrade

Those are just some regular steel balls in the plastic tub I used to test the strength of the motor magnets. -
Custom power supply - an idea
Boxerlego replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Here are some of my thoughts on this custom power supply and my own personal attempts at a custom power supply. This one down below can connect with terminals on a 9v battery, like the one Sariel shows in the opening post. The 9v battery would be very useful for supplying power to a PF V1 IR receiver with a PF servo. The thought on this is for Lego vehicles to use the 9-volt battery to power the PF servo for steering along with lights and use a separate battery pack dedicated at powering the drive motor or motors. This drive battery could potentially be a 12v or 18v Li-Po battery but right now all there is the 8878 7.4v Li-Po battery. For a good quality fast Lego RC car to exist it must be a premeditated structure with several aspect to the overall design. Look at the 32x32 base plate for a Lego house for a moment. The 32x32 base plate is the perfect example for what it takes to make a excellent Lego RC design. First it provides a soild structural platform to build on which brings me to the Second example, Evolution. The Lego space base plates are the best way to show a example of the evolution for the 32x32 base plate. The space base plate brought a whole new vision at what a base plate could possibly be. Finally the Third example and to simply put it "It is LEGO" because of the fact that Lego maintained the square or rectangle design with their base plates that allowed it to be joined together as one layout. Here is a 8-cell rechargeable battery box (battery voltage should not be more than 10.6-volts) that was used to power the 9398 Crawler with the Power Puller tires and it work out pretty well. That is a very great web site for this stuff. It has help alot. I use a Hardware Monitoring program on my Laptop computer to observe its battery current and charging voltages. I'm sure you meant PTC resistor. -
GBC Ball Counter Module

That is a really neat use of a cell phone. They can do so much today, it is just not a phone to some anymore. It is now a Lego brick. -
Concept for new Technic parts
Boxerlego replied to D3K's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Your absolutely right here. You would need to produce both connections. -
Ghost Digger Monster Truck
Boxerlego replied to Boxerlego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks GDomino! I've been slowly working on the obstacle course and it is still a WIP. Once I remove this pile of bark I will be able expand the course out and add more obstacles. I also plan to do a comparison video in the future comparing the XL motor to the motor upgrade. I have many ideas on how to do this, but first here is a visual comparison of the brushes that are used in the motors. -
Concept for new Technic parts
Boxerlego replied to D3K's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I built this 3 cylinder Solenoid engine That made use of this part right here along with three 1x2 thin liftarms. To basically make a Axle connector that can make true 120 degree offset crank throws. The crankshaft was the actual concept design for this Unique Axle Formation. So this is why I think this a very good example of where concept = new Technic part.. oh look there it is. -
Wow! That is a mammoth tank design. Awesome work. How well do the torsion bars support the tank? I would love to see the tank unload some more rounds on Iron man and turn him into Iron dust. I wonder if the next tank will be a robot in disguise?

Cool magic cube! I've been wanting to make that for sometime now. -
Short Axle Connection
Boxerlego replied to Boxerlego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I want to metaphorically say this: that I am not the first person to run in to this wall. Many builders will stop at the wall that is before them. Me I dig in and start to climb the wall so I can see what is beyond. I've made two octagons just because I build stuff and see it for myself. The first one is a unmodified design and the second one is a modified octagon. This is for you to see what is beyond that wall. Unmodified octagon: Modified octagon: -
LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
Boxerlego replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for the information I see where you are going with your view on cuusoo and I also follow your view; However, cuusoo is not entirely for the new ideas. Cuusoo in its entirety is there to find that market niche "new idea or not". The demand for new parts is practically not there, because the majority is fine with theavailable parts to build with. A new part that is made by TLG is well accepted in the box. But when a new part is thought up with out the mark of approval the part gets undermined... even when it made completely from original unmodified LEGO it still is undermined. (Example Eurobricks Link: post #18) Basically, it comes down to faith. There is more faith among the majority in the LEGO company to make new and exciting LEGO part then the unbranded individual. -
LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
Boxerlego replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thank you for commenting on the the topic before it was merged. I agree with you 100%. Here is a project that could be beneficial and exciting for lego sets. In my opinion a part like that does not need 10,000 votes. I think by the time it reaches 10,000 votes TLG could already had this part made and in the two hands of master builders already figured it out and already made models displaying its unique building abilities. I think the fandom over a unique building ability that could generate 1000 is amazing enough in it self to start being a possible product but that is just my opinion. I can understand why the topic got merged because it did seemed like a personal entry that could've been made for this cuusoo topic. I wanted to post that topic in the hopes to generate a focused thought about cuusoo and what it is for. I believe that can be figure out here in this cuusoo topic. I want to help you understand here....Look at this cuusoo idea it is a part, several parts in fact. All he want is longer beams for bigger builds. Now what If you saw a motor that is up on CUUSOO with the phrase "Bring back faster Motors". Would you really want to vote for that bigger liftarm and faster motor or would you rather want TLG to make'em. Now I theoretically know that nobody is going to support ideas like these on cuusoo because the community is waiting for TLG to make the faster and bigger stuff among other things as well.
