  1. Challenge 2 entry posted here. I think this challenge got a bit buried under everything else going on in GOH - or are people just quietly working on some magnificent MOCs for it? I hope to see many more 'cards', and I'm really curious to see any challenge 1 entries as the concept behind it is very intriguing...
  2. Here's a little something for the Life and Death in Kaliphlin Challenge II: A vignette for card X, the dragon. ...and I did a bit of photoshoping to give it a 'card-like' appearance: Comments/criticisms always welcome
  3. Great ornaments so far everyone! Here's mine: ♫O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree...♫
  4. Congratulations everyone, well deserved! And thanks to Peppermint_M, this was fun .

    Canadian Eh?

Thanks for the info lowbike1 - I was at Target yesterday and they had the Mirkwood Elf polybag (also a Christmas train, and the Friends iceream stand) in with the stocking stuffers - it's good to know that they'll have some of the polybags I never expected to be able to get .
  6. This is lovely! My favorite aspects are the colour scheme, the roof design, and the detailed facade. Oh, and all the snow! ♫ I'm dreaming of a white Christmas ♫
  7. I've got something nearly ready for the second challenge, but had a few questions: - is it ok to have a border outside of the 10x10 size limit? - is a bit of overhang acceptable (just a bit of landscaping here and there, maybe one or two studs over)? This is a fun challenge idea and I think a second round and/or extending the deadline to allow more people to build something for it, is a good idea. (Congrats on the wedding btw!)
  8. Lol - I too had a lovely idea for this contest all planed out in my head and had done some preliminary test builds... however, I think it's a great idea to change things up a bit. Hopefully (despite the bit of 'bah-humbugging' ) with the 16x16 restriction, more people will be able to join in = more snowy wintery village goodness. Time to get out the Christmas music ♫ and start planning.
  9. Congratulations to the winners (well deserved!), and the participants (sooo many great entries), and the staff (on a very successfully run contest), and a special nod to whoever was involved in counting the votes .

  14. Wow, those are some awesome angles you've managed to achieve. I can just picture the top part of the cottage sliding off and smashing on the rocky ground. (And of course lovely work with the colour scheme, and landscaping/rock work as always.)
  15. I don't think building something assuming that the rules will change part way through a contest is quite the way to go here . A big part of the fun/challenge is creating an MOC within the restrictions given. You still have some time to adjust your build and get it in - as always, the more the merrier. Otherwise just post it as a MOC outside of the contest like hench did here, so we can still see it in all its' glory. I'm enjoying all the entries so far - a couple of my favorites right now: the Spa of Good and Evil is a beautifully clean build with a lovely colour scheme; SpaceySmoke's Bash at Lord Vampyre's mansion has some really good detail and lots of action (although the pictures of the 'good ending' didn't turn out quite as good as the originals, and I miss the Fighter's head mounted on the wall, but I understand why you changed it); and the minigolf one is really innovative, especially that zombie arm golf club . The last minute entries are usually some of the best, I'm looking forward to see more great builds as Halloween nears. And thanks to Peppermint_M for organizing this - all the different categories are great, and building for some of them has been a hoot.
  16. Swamp Creature's Lair After a long night of fighting Monster Fighters, Swamp Creature likes to relax in his hot tub with a good drink... and the latest episode of Legends of Chima on the big screen TV The complete build: (I hope instructions count as an official Lego part... )
  17. Helmont Stakes The one event that brings Monsters and Fighters together is the annual Helmont Stakes. The winner is the first across the finish line, or the last rider and horse standing - there are no rules and all forms of weaponry are allowed. The complete build:
  18. The Drakarkan on vacation A portal between Historica and Earth has expanded the options for vacation locales. Looking for a break from their home in the dark, cold waters of Nocturnus, some Drakarkan are touring Earth's warm beaches... The Monster Hunters will have their hands full with these skeletal merfolk. The complete build:
  19. Great story - and really nice work with the landscaping. The photography/editing is really beautiful too - that second image looks like it could almost be a digital render...
  20. These photos are looking much better! (still some improvements to be made, but with practice and trying out the suggestions here, they'll be great in no time). The ruins are good (to me, it looks like those brown plates on top of the green are fallen/rotting timber from whatever structure used to be there...), and nice work with the figure posing - your best build yet.
  21. Aww, those horses are super cute - I love their little ears and little tails ... oh, and the rest of the build is really great too - the landscaping is spot on with the rock work, the mini-trees, the pathway, and the waterfall. Also, I really like how you were able to build some texture into the palace walls with those 1x1 rounds.
  22. Thanks Gabe... :poke:Ska, please put me down for the dragon too .
  23. I think your camera should be capable of taking better images (unless the focusing mechanism is broken). (My own camera is only 6 megapixels, and a few years older than yours, although it is an SLR so that does help). Anyways, here is a few things that might help improve your images without having to get a new camera: - lots of light - outside on an overcast day, or in a slightly shady area (full sun might make too many dark shadows) - don't use the flash if you can help it (this causes glare, and weird shadow effects) - One thing that might really help with the blurriness is to back up and zoom in (instead of having the camera so close to the moc); your camera might be having issues focusing on something so close... - set the camera on a stack of books or something, instead of holding it when you take the picture - this should help stabilize it and might help with some of the blur. You builds are good - and getting better, and just being able to show them off as well as possible would help a lot.
  24. I completely forgot about this with everything else going on - I'll try to at least make a build for challenge 2 - can I claim card X The long snake or the dragon?
  25. Thanks guys!
