Great tribe! - I love the action-packed moc, and the figures look really good... but they even steal teddy bears? That's just going too far...
-
Great work with the lime green - I've been hesitant to use it, since it seems so garishly bright - but you've made it work, and it really makes the swamp look like it could only belong in Nocturnus. I like your tree technique too, but what is the bright green piece, the squiggly one, in the tree?

This is a nice clean build - and yet captures the ruinous feel of an ancient site - I really like it! Great characters, and back story too.

Thank you

@ ch_ris127 -> I think you're fine, it's only the middle of the day (15th) where I am, so there's lots more time. Great tribe btw.

I love this ! Great idea for a tribe (I've tried to read the Silmarillion, I really have... but that Tolkein can be a tough read for some of us , I did make it through LoTR though...). Anyways, the figure is really well done , landscaping could maybe use a bit of work (but you already know this). I think some black tiles for the top of the border, and one big piece of paper for the backdrop, would help polish up the images a bit more. (Alternatively, doing some digital adjustments to increase the brightness might make those paper lines disappear...)

Thanks everyone! Aww, you would use these sweet little things for target practice? You're totally right - here is a (slightly blurry) shot from a slightly higher angle so more of the water is visible...but I think I see what you mean - maybe extending the water to the left more, and adding in another little pond to the area on the right, or dialing back on the foliage a bit, would better balance the ground-to-water ratio and make the overall build look more swampy... I'll remember to keep this in mind with future swamp builds, thanks!

Neat! - I like how you made the fire/ice bouncing off the shields.

Great cottage! I love all the different techniques utilized here. One thing though - some of the images seem a bit too bright and little bit washed out - maybe the camera exposure is set a bit too high; or if you're adjusting the brightness digitally, maybe don't brighten quite so much (the third image from the bottom is really good, just the right balance of bright/dark to enhance all the lovely details).

~o☼o~ Swamp Faeries ~o☼o~ The Swamp Faeries (or "Forested Wet Land" Faeries if you prefer) live in family groups throughout the Moruth Swamplands, and make their homes out of the hollows of dead trees. They are quite shy, and are rarely seen except by those unfortunate enough to have their hands or feet bitten off by their double row of razor sharp teeth (they love the crunch of little bones). A picture of the swamp by itself: I thought I'd give a swamp moc a try...

Lovely rock work, and fantastic backstory and figures . I also really like how you layer the plates on the base- it adds a nice texture to the ground.

Great idea, I love Ents, and dark ones would truly be a force to be reckoned with - and this is quite spooky with all those scraggly limbs going every which way. I'm not a huge fan of the digital background though - I think it detracts a bit too much from the build itself - maybe a solid colour, or simpler gradient...

Steam Wagon by Mr. Brickman (1 vote) My very favorite was acrosswaves' - nice build with lots of detail, but the presentation and photography are absolutely brilliant - good job!

Thanks guys! And it would be really neat to learn more about this tribe (I haven't developed their back story/future stories any more than what is here) -> if anyone wants to use them in stories/mocs, go nuts . I'm nearly done my second tribe, it just needs some final touches and time to photograph - I decided to go with something a bit cuter this time around...

Great start for Tribes: Round 2! I guess I'm mostly repeating what's been said - but I love the mushrooms, and the rickety scaffolding (and the rock work - as always - is lovely). I am curious how sturdy this is... any concerns of it falling apart when moving it around? or is it deceptively robust?

The MOC may be a little sparse, but the figure designs, posing, and photo compositions are top notch! I can't wait to see more of these guys.

Nocturnus Tribes - A Murder of Black Crows
Emma replied to Hammerstein NWC's topic in Guilds of Historica
What a creepy back story, very creative and really well thought out! And the creepy figs match it well. Also, I love the photography - it really shows how a good setup and some know how can really help show off a moc.- 19 replies

I love the landscaping in this - the rock work, the colour choices, the layering of plates for the ground, and the tree are all fantastic!
-
The figures are my favorite part - such a variety of pieces that work really well together , and reflect he back story nicely. The outpost looks almost as if the Kmnel have carved it out of a preexisting rock formation - I like it!

Great idea, and nice editing on that first picture! I like how you showed the transformation whilst he was jumping to attack, the amount of action you were able incorporate is awesome. One thing though, there is so much going it feels a bit overwhelming visually - having a focal point might help a bit (make the key area of interest stand out a bit more, maybe through lighting, or by 'blending' the landscaping together somehow so that the figures are more prominent than the vegetation (the variety of which, btw, is incredible, it just steals your attention away too much from the figs.)
