I really like the shape of the head . I'd be curious to see what the wings look like unfolded, but the look you've achieved with the fold is very nice, and fits the dragon well. The base too is really well done with the dense foliage and lower swampy bit. I wonder if there would be an alternative way to make it look like the minifig is hold the ropes -> it kinda looks like his arms are going to be ripped off as soon as the beast flaps its wings .

I missed out on the clearanced LoTR Pirate Ship (local Target)... I saw it, was undecided, went back a few days later to get it, and it was gone... oh well, I didn't reeeaaalllly need it... Anyways, I noticed that Target had the Creator Fast Car and Batman Tumbler polybags up near the checkout (with the chocolate bars and small gimmick-y stuff)... another place to keep an eye out for polys. Edit: Oh, one other interesting thing, I found two of the the DK Harry Potter lego books (with the exclusive minifigs) at Dollarama for $3 each.

Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Warmest of welcomes to the lego dwarf and saberwing - a most excellent choice of guilds -
Eeps - that does not look like a fun place to be (as a prisoner). Great story so far LV - looking forward to the rest. (oh, and I'm not sure what your are using for taking pictures, but if it has a 'micro' setting (often has a flower icon) that might work better for the close-up shots, or backing up a little bit and then zooming in sometimes works too if the focus is not behaving)

News Travels Fast. At least, on the legs of a scorpion!

I too am a fan of the snot floor; also the fact that the build is double sided really adds a lot visually and story-wise . The beard/melting candle wax is some great parts usage too. I'm not completely sold on the brown/wood border - I don't feel that it quite goes with the rest of the build, maybe something in the dark grey, or black with a few red accents...- 16 replies

My local Toys R Us always has some, although certain ones (like the Lake-town guard) disappear pretty fast, others stick around for quite a while (they always seem to have a bunch of Kraang's turtle target practice, ). Anyways, Target had a bunch of Mirkwood elf guards, Friends ice-cream stands, and Starwars 30243 (Umbaran MHC) at Christmas time, with the stocking stuffers; and there was a witch head one around Halloween. I've never seen polybags at Walmart though.

Have you played around with the settings on your Samsung? My familiarity with what it is capable of is only based on a quick google search, so not sure if this is helpful or not (and you may already know/have tried these) but fiddling around with these settings might be helpful: - Exposure value: increase this to make the image brighter - White balance: see which setting makes the white parts look the most white (most of the shots in your WoN stuff look great regarding the white balance, but this one seemed to turn out a bit 'yellow-y') - ISO: increasing this value might help brighten things up a bit, but too high and you might start seeing some graininess/noise ...of course then there is always working on the lighting setup and then getting into photo-editing software to get the best possible pictures...but maybe this will help a bit... regardless the build is really great

I love maple syrup - we get ours from a neighbor who taps the trees along our road. Nice build (as per usual) - I'm really liking the tree design (though they look like they would fit nicely in Nocturnus too).

Awesome use of the minifig legs - a really clever way to get a nice curved creature . I think more bones/skeletons throughout the rest if its body might have been neat - to match the head more... regardless this is definitely a Nocturnus mount/rider to steer clear of

Cute creature! It's got some really nice shaping and I especially like how the minifig fits snugly on it between the wings. The one thing that would make this a bit better would be some colour balancing (making those whites look white).

Welcome jaapxaap and Jorrith - excellent choice of guilds . -
Thanks guys .

Nice effect with the creature moving through the swamp I really like it's overall shape, but the perhaps head could have used a bit more detail. Great work with the lighting/photograpy too.

Lol, that letter is great. I really like the concept of a feathered dragon - good idea LV. The colour combo is perfect, and you've done some really good shaping. Also kudos on how posable he is. I'm not too crazy about the feet, I think it mostly comes from being so used to the standard 3 or 4 toed dragon feet... and, at first glance, the black nostrils look like eyes, I think they might just stand out a bit too much (olive, or the darker green might work - though I'm not sure those even exist...)

Great stuff Mass! Lots of great details, the wall texture is very effective, and I really like the chandelier design and how it's hanging. I think my favorite though is the waiter with the cyclops head - he seems to be the happiest of the bunch.

Oooh, so many possibilities, this will be fun. Can't wait to see what sort of creatures people come up with.

Emma from Nocturnus, voting for Kaliphlin. Lots of nice builds all around

Really cool dragon design The head and the body shaping are lovely. Not too crazy about how flat the legs are - but definitely interested to see what you've done for the next dragon. Also very nice landscaping.

Wow - not too sure how I completely missed this - really nice stuff Mass. I like how throughout the story pictures there is no real indication of the scale of the build. Its like, medium shot, a few close ups and then wham! There's the whole MOC, a lovely large throne room with cool lava flows and wonderfully SNOTed floor. Also, the whole collab story is great, can't wait to see what happens next.

Apologies for the late response - thanks for the comments/feedback everyone; I'm glad the moat detail and the windows were well received - figuring out those windows probably took up the majority of the time spent on this build. Yes that's him More detail maybe? Or... Um, silly Avalonians... Lol, ok so I will remember for next time: windows in drawbridges don't make too much sense .

Book II Challenge II - Avalonian Civil War! - RESULTS POSTED
Emma replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
And one from me: Ch. II Cat A: Tracking the Drow Wow, what a large influx of entries! Especially from DeGothia's side... uhoh... Awesome stuff everyone -
Book II Challenge II Category A – Simon/Drow Assault (providing intelligence) Tracking the Drow to Avalonia After the devastation wrought by the Spire and Drow armies in Nocturnus, the only remaining stronghold, Abyssian, was leagues of enemy troops away. For a time, Nimueh and Dark Horse (her shape-shifting companion) took refuge in the shadows of the Rakath foothills, picking off a few Spire scum here and there. While waiting for an opportunity to strike east to join the remaining loyal Nocturnians at Abyssian, they came across a large Drow army heading under the mountains, moving west. Why move away from the fighting in the east? The vile scum plan to try and take the rest of Historica before they’re even finished here! If we can get word out to the other guilds and cut them down before they have a chance to establish any great threat… With the hope of helping to stop the Drow infiltration, and perhaps gain allies in the fight against the Spire in Nocturnus, Nimueh and Dark tracked the army through dark, winding tunnels all the way into Avalonia. “Ser! The Drow threat is imminent. I have been following one of their hosts all the way from Nocturnus, and I have followed them here!” And a peek into the moat: There's a few more pictures over on flickr. Thanks for looking, c&c always welcome

Beautiful texturing and colour scheme on the lighthouse, and the water is really well done too - it looks so sparkly.
