Rufus and Pandora - your Toadstool Tavern is epic! and a very inspirational build Kristel - I really like how well you were able to recreate a classic Fabuland look, especially with the door and windows
  2. 1. Pilili Cuicui - 2 4. Cecilie - 2 5. Oky - 1 Good job everyone, and good luck!
  3. 22. L@go - 1 I love how closely the original and Fabuland-version match and yet are still distinct.
  4. 6. ER0L - 2 7. Zed_43 - 2 11. greg3 - 1 ER0L: The colours are great, and I like how it is quite detailed yet still very clean looking. Zed_43: I love the overall look of this one, and all the details you were able to put in to it. The car wash brings it over the top. Good Job! greg3: I like how you came up with a a unique idea and executed it very well I've never been so intrigued by gas stations before . Awesome work everyone and best of luck!
  5. Here is my entry for the Fabuland Building contest - Henry Horse's home Sunnyside Manor. Comments/critiques/suggestions always welcome. Outside, we've got some flower beds, a deck above the garage with a BBQ for grilling up some veggies, and Henry's trying out some 'square-foot gardening' in the side vegetable garden. Inside, there is a living room and kitchen downstairs, with the TV room and bedroom upstairs This started off as a small build but somehow kept growing until I ran out of red and yellow '1 by x' pieces. I hope the lack of Fabuland parts/figures is OK for the contest -> I don't have any, but I couldn't resist creating something for Fabuland month. (prior to this I didn't even know what Fabuland was...and now I've been bitten by the FabuBug) One day I hope to get a Henry Horse (the one with grey overalls) just because he's so cute . Well, whether or not this qualifies, I had a blast building it, and I hope you guys like it !
  6. Here's a screen cap of my local flyer - for the Elrond minifig it says "with purchase of any lego game" and the bottom line in the blue box says "while they last" - the promo starts today (Friday). I can't find a price online at TRUCanada, but on amazon.ca, the price for the Xbox LOTR is $39.99CA and that matches what the games usually cost in-store.
  7. My local TRU (Canada) flyer shows that they are offering the Exclusive Elrond minifig again with the purchase of any Lego video game (not sure if this is just local, but worth a gander if your looking to get Elrond)

    Canadian Eh?

Thanks for the replies about shopping in the states. Unfortunately it's just a quick day trip over for lunch and to look around the stores (taking a friend who has never been to the US before and just wants to try out her new passport -> we live close to the border), Lego shopping would just be on the side -> no duty free for me. I think I will take Crackerjack's suggestion and keep a lookout for some of the polys that arn't available here, and try to keep the spending down... we'll see if that actually happens ). As an aside (sort of) I noticed that Toys R Us has Hobit/LOTR sets on for 20% off, with no mark up (bringing them closer to US prices ).

    Canadian Eh?

I might be heading south (Watertown NY is considered 'the south' isn't it? lol) for a day trip in a couple of weeks. I was just wondering about anyone's experience with shopping for Lego across the border (is it worth it after tax/duty/etc.). Specifically I've been eyeing the Unexpected Gathering set which is listed at $69.99US at Walmart/Target.
  12. Woohoo! (does a happy dance) Ahem... Anyways, congratulations to all the winners and participants, all the builds were great and I've learned a lot just from looking at all the different techniques used. Thanks to EB and the Mods who organized/ran the contest. And thank you to everyone who voted for me (I'm tickled pink that I made it in the top 7 ). Thanks Kai, the feedback on my initial design really helped me improve it a lot. EDIT: just got home from work to find a prize waiting for me (EB service at its finest? Lol!) A BIG thankyou!
  13. Congratulations to the winners! Those are some awesome builds. And thanks to Si-MOCs for organizing the contest, it was a smashing success and lots of fun

  18. This fits really well with the Winter Village theme. I really like how you used the minifig torsos as shirts/sweaters, and displayed the hats - simple but very effective details. The mannequin is genius, and the grandma is super sweet . Best of luck!
  19. I'll guess: 71/43/37 I've been trying to keep up with all the posts, there's so much to learn from all the entries, especially for a new MOCer. I'm a bit behind with the huge influx over the last couple of days...time to go check things out. Thanks for organizing this contest Si-MOCS, what an amazing turnout!
  20. Awesome! I love how well the colour scheme works, and the details - especially the rocket in mid launch. No one will be strapping that bear to any truck grill .
  21. Hi all, I've gone back and fixed up my entry a bit (thanks so much for all the suggestions and feedback).
  22. In the distant future, a scout ship searches far off planets for the rare natural resource that has become a vital source of light for humans back on Earth...Glow-In-The-Dark Plastic! (It doesn't stand out as well as I had hoped compared to the green plants/trees, but inside the rocks and next to the waterfall are some glowy pieces; I need to practice more with low light photography , I might try a few more shots tonight). Feedback/tips/suggestions are always appreciated. And good luck to everyone who entered (there are a amazing amount of amazing micro builds). And thanks to SiMOCs for organizing all this ) Edit: couldn't get a better glow in the dark picture, but I thought I better up load a better lit image regardless: Attempt to photograph glow in the dark pieces:
  23. An unfortunate, mistreated equine, slaving under the whip of two ne'er-do-wells running from the law, is about to be liberated. Soaring through the air, Steam-Punk-Horse scours the Wild West, hunting down the evil oppressors that dare enslave his kin. Good luck to everyone in the contest, there are oodles of amazing entries!
  24. A cow mech with udders That is brilliant! The rest of the build is really good too.
  25. Wow! This is beautiful. The wall textures, the trees, the landscaping, the detail, the whole thing, all amazing. This is a masterpiece
