  1. Bro you knocked the ball outta the park with this, I love your video, watched a few times and am very impressed! I see you used a nice big plate under the battery box just to give it a final wall of bou... Boyanc... Bb... Make it float! Haha. I think those tyres are best, I tried power pullers and they sink with any weight.
  2. Bah! Who cares about being a purist, Lego is a toy designed to stimulate the mind, if you gotta cut something to work or watever then do it. I have taken an angle grinder to my Lego in the past, I did it once I'll do it again!
  3. Wow totally amazing, and I love the Lipo battery in there, the photos of the out doors are extraordinary. The model is beautiful, it looks solid and detailed. Very good job mate! I am not sure about the suspension though, it looks incorrect for an ATV, but you may intend it to be a crawler that looks like an ATV?
  4. Yeah you're correct the the rotor acts as a flywheel, it helps to draw the speed out making it very constant through the pull back motor cycles The fly wheel doesn't add any acceleration though, It will only take away from acceleration, it can provide a constant in the movement, I think flywheels are a fantastic idea in power function cars as they seem to look more like robots disguised as cars (very jerky and no roll, even drive train bounce because of the lack of constant ), in a robot it would work pretty good, will help to rid that sticking point in the stroke where it must lift the weight. Have an experiment and let us know
  5. Ok here is my pullback motorized version of a slightly more grow up model, my son did like this heli although he didn't use the windup function and ya slightly less charming. It may not look it, but it is fairly tough, I had concerns that maybe the pullback motor didn't have the power to move both rotors and move itself but it does! I thing a piston engine can easily be added. The pullback motor used is one of the newer ones out of the off road pullback car, these are better than the older pullback motors which have a lot of friction. And again here is a video of it working. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cV069I6AjY&feature=youtu.be I like this helicopter and will evolve it for myself, in that venture, copter experts may want to chime in on what I could do to build a better one, as I know little about them and built this completely from within the walls of my mind.
  6. Yes good idea will incoperate that in on the 3rd build, it's very fun doing this and I really think I could make some cool things down the line. Feel free to post any pics of your creations here I'd love to see em! YES! The pullback on is done, and while it isn't as charming as the first it works well, will post pics later hehe Yes, it's actually a nice challenge coming up with a design this is appealing and fun, also a nice challenge making it strong as toddlers are rough.
  7. This is too much awesome, to make a coaster of this scale would of been costly!
  8. Piece of wood with a hole in it!
  9. Today I wanted to build a toy for my son, something that would keep him happy. Model team quality right there When you pull it by it's wire the rotors spin, has a nice solid feel to it, I plan to improve on this build considerably, both in strength and looks. Below is a demonstration, my boy loves it and it was nice to see him at 2yo put it back together when it broke, it was fun watching him observe the gears in action! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKHbLwKkews&feature=youtu.be I'm going to have a go at utilizing one of my pullback motors in a helicopter. Most likely update tomorrow, I have started and it's going well.
  10. Pretty awesome idea, you could use those older smaller cylinders to act as dampers. You know a lego chassis has to be pretty stiff to need a damper, I have a video here to demonstrate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-J3_RTCfvo&feature=youtu.be The point of a shock or damper is to absorb the energy from the spring so it doesn't go boing boing boing! The spring is actually the shock absorber, it absorbs the bumps the shock/damper just dampens it, otherwise you get this happen Haha love that video and I desperately want to try it one day! All the give in the plastic does the same thing, it absorbs the energy from the spring, so do the tyres.
  11. I am having some issues with my PF's when the signal breaks within the system the system decides to keep working for 2 seconds. Is this normal? I have a V2 receiver.
  12. This looks like a fun model and the connection to GTA makes it even more special, I think I will backlog the 42000 just so I can build this.
  13. It sounds like your boy is in it purely for the stimulation of building and not admiring, good on him I am the same too. Though I like the idea of builing the older sets and leaving them built, because they have parts that I do not need so there is no conflict of interest. Good way to have the cake and eat it too.
  14. No matter how good the set is I destroy it pretty quickly and sort the pieces out, then just look at them for a few days, the rest of the story could only be described as brilliance and amazingness
  15. That's so cool man, really out of the box, I will try to make something like this for my son! Inspired.
  16. You have two xls in this? Gear it up i say!
  17. Yeah that suspension is too stiff at that speed, even if it were twice the speed it would be too stiff.
  18. This is the type of set I wish they would retail, my son likes it and if it were a retail set it would not be too expensive, would be easy to make and would stimulate his mind. There may be sets already out there that can do this, but this would be a good option, because I really like the colours. Also hows the toughness, is it fragile?
  19. Ah yes thought so, I do remember them breaking often, back then a lot of parts broke and yes I am still very bitter about it
  20. I remember those parts in between the push rods and the springs being quite weak, they hold up? Also not that it matters but you cannot use large wheels with this setup because the hub has a narror axle that is easy to leverage, though if this is just a sit model it doesn't really matter. Good work!
  21. I like how the tyres looks used and a bit beat up, I think this is a stunning model. And if you're in the triple build contest, I don't think I'll bother
  22. I used to have the red one, when you are young it's amazing what fun you can have with such a simple toy, so I look at these karts quite fondly and rate them high because of it.
  23. Very awesome, I hope you converted some kids into Technic fans! Cause that's what it is all about man, thanks for the videos and pictures. The chaser cam was actually quite cool. Did you guys do time trials? I think that the birthday party thing would be a great side gig!
  24. I really wish I were there, what a massive event, if you did something like this in NZ you might get two people turn up
