  1. A voltage divider is two resistors, one in series of the circuit and the other in parallel? Right? from the battery source, doesn't the resistor in parallel cause constant drain on battery, I'd say it would, and don't the resistors have to be a certain wattage to handle the pulled current
  2. If I were a purist I would be bored with technic as it is, electrical complexity I add to make it more challenging and interesting. What's the point in having a well set up suspension system if the car only goes 5kph... It is what it is, and it does what it does to get the job done.
  3. Holy cow, it's so massive and I really dig those studs! The suspension is very nice, like the real thing!
  4. Interesting topic. Take a look at electric vehicles in reality, they don't tend to have gear boxes, because the motors make high torque from zero rpm, this is a good thing as transmissions are a waste of weight and reduce efficiency. You don't need a crawl gear on a electric motor either because they have max torque on offer anythime, meaning if you have a step power system you can crawl (power functions doesn't have this Unless you use that train remote) So a two speed system might come in handy. Agree with everyone above, in the end it's almost boringly simple, weight, drive train friction and power. As for handling. You need to decide what surface you will be driving on, if it's glass... or a pretty clean surface then no suspension is best, if the car becomes so powerful that it doesn't steer on acceleration pulses, then you need to add front suspension so that the front wheels stay pressed on the ground as the front lifts from the acceleration (this is pretty common with small vehicles with short wheelbases).
  5. Beautiful cab, but it looks more like it should be carrying a trailer now wrong cab for this skip truck. I was once talking to a skip driver, he reckons that other truckers look at skip drivers as bottom of the pile truckers! I told him that elitism seems to breed everywhere... But still great work.
  6. So you took pictures off every phase, that would of taken a very long time, but looks great! When I am in the mood, I will take up the challenge of building the Hot Rod. Man Moc plans is great, I like the way we are protected from piracy issues
  7. Haha reminds me of the 2nd hand silver champion I bought, seller said missing a few pieces... It was missing BEAMS! Who knows how it was pictured made up in the photo, still, I used my beams to finish it, didn't like the set though so I parted it out, except the tyres hehe
  8. You get 4 of those frames! There's a whole lot more among too, the turquoise liftarms, light sensors and a Technic man, which I don't have yet.
  9. Thanks guys for the replies, didn't get the set got outbid at $200, I still wanted it for all the rare parts if nothing else.
  10. This must be a very rare set, does anyone have any knowledge on it? Opinions? It has some rear looking parts including an radio control function (are they compatible with other Lego rc gear?) information would be nice, as I am looking at getting one that has become available. Not a lot or any information about it...
  11. I have a question regarding 8482 Cyber master. Does anyone have experience with this set? I am thinking of buying it. Chur chur
  12. You consistently keep banging out very nice models, simple and very appealing, I won't say keep up the good work because well... It would be like telling a jar to keep being a jar.
  13. I can't figure how the normal steering works? Will have to see it in action. Skid steer is pretty cool and unique to a crawler don't think i've seen it before, i think it would work good with baloon tyres.
  14. Yes it does good observation! Gotta love it (: Yes! I am actually not sure how much weight the rc gear will add, the battery is 40grams. But even if the car weighed 2kg, (which I am sure it will not) that's one motor to every 500grams, which ain't too bad. I am aiming for 1.7kg. It seems strong, was thinking of not having a skid bumper to save weight... i guess we will see haha. I can say that the front end is mechanically balanced, everything about is factored for heavy impact half way up the tyre, should just lift over, however large walls and stuff would cause a nice explosion.
  15. Righto here's the end of the week update, I have set the chassis and it feels great, I tried not to over cook it. At this stage the vehicle weights 1.150kg, at this weight the front is still standing tall, but with the 300grams of the body it should settle down, if not I will keep changing the spring combination, but with the weight being mostly towards the rear, forwards velocity should keep the front very light, so maybe a very soft spring rate would be best. Let's attach the old seats! As you can see Faceoff is right at home Okies time to add the old body! It fits with zero modification! Wow... Great almost good enough to display, the rear end still needs doing, and who knows how the RC gear will all go in the back there, but that's where I am for the now. Happy with the car, the track width is higher in this version which looks a little weird, but at least there is no chance of the wheels rubbing on the guards this time
  16. I'll try to finish the body this weekend, should be a rolling model very soon, then will get the RC gear when I have some spare cash
  17. Yes they are from those large RC cars, forgot their name, quite fast, probably twice the speed of the race buggy, hotflame and supersonic. Should be fun to compare, our models. Be more fun to race them, up a wet hill or something.
  18. I think so, I should make a quick video. No I will make one!
  19. Thank you Sir! I know it's OVER THE TOP! Top top.... top
  20. Hello! After too much time I have finally built my front end, and quickly stitched the chassis to it for display purposes Since I am not going with the "rc unit" chassis stiffness will suffer, heck might be good to throw it on anyway just to stiffen things up ... I will not included it though, let's see how it goes! The travel in the suspension is EXTREEEME! And the skid plate smashes against the ground! Total awesome For those who don't know, the silver hubs allow for the best pivot point over any other wheel in the Technics range and on the rear the wheels are flipped which gives a huge dish, which is very good for cornering leverages transmitted to the hubs. The front subframe is mounted to the chassis using rubber connectors so the sub frame angle can be played with, I am working on making it easily adjustable. Thanks for viewing, time to start working on the stiffness and body
  21. What's this talk about triple A battery box, was unawares Lego made one...
  22. This is gonna be hard to top, good work my man! And also fantastis display of everything via the video.
  23. This is very cool, with this I am pretty sure you could make a helicopter with helium balloons to assist flight, it'd be like a hopper.
