The Star Wars expanded universe (Legends) offers a wide variety of inspiration for MOCs and MODs. Here are 2 simple MODs based on the excellent sets that are the #9492 TIE-Fighter and the #9495 Gold Leader's Y-Wing Starfighter. Take both of these sets, mix them with the rich Star Wars expanded universe, add an inch of colour, shake all along, and serve them hot. You get Uglies on the rock! Uglies by Veynom, on Flickr Uglies are un-registered spaceships assembled from scavenged parts and recycled modules of other ships. These part's origins range from battlefields, crashes, decommissioned vessels, military leftover and so on. Everything which can be reused will be reused, sometimes with luck, most of the time without. Uglies are mainly used by pirates, mercenaries and other para-miliraty organisations looking for cheap and untraceable ships. Uglies offer the advantages of being cheap to produce and are relatively easy to find on the black market. But those are the only advantages that one can find them. I have decided to build two of the most famous Uglies: the Y-TIE and the TYE-Wing. Y-TIE The Y-TIE is the improbable combination of a Y-Wing cockpit and body with the wings and ionic engines of a TIE-Ln. This model is quite common among uglies during the Galactic Empire's rule due to the numerous battles between Imperial forces and rebel fighters. The resulting surprising spacecraft is a heavy, slow, and barely manoeuvrable ship offering good resistance and impressive firepower. Y-TIE by Veynom, on Flickr Side view showing the full length of the Y-TIE and how the cockpit is exposed outside of the wings: Y-TIE by Veynom, on Flickr Top view where I simply added some details and played with colors: Y-TIE by Veynom, on Flickr Y-TIE by Veynom, on Flickr Y-TIE by Veynom, on Flickr And a back view showing that I decided to keep the flicker missile for playability purpose. (kids...) Y-TIE by Veynom, on Flickr TYE-Wing The TYE-Wing - kindly nicknamed DIE-Wing by the pilots and their mechs is the hybrid fruit between a TIE ball cockpit and Y-Wing engine pods. This very lightly armoured fighter also benefits from a very light armament. The DIE-Wing succeeds in combining the worst of bith the TIE-Ln and the Y-Wing with the added challenge of avoiding all of their advantages. This is no surprise how it came to get his nickname. TYE-Wing (DIE-Wing) by Veynom, on Flickr A few 4x4 round plates are required to correctly adjust the engine pods. Based on your available colors, you may end-up with another painting job. The sticker is there just because I could. TYE-Wing (DIE-Wing) by Veynom, on Flickr Backside: TYE-Wing (DIE-Wing) by Veynom, on Flickr Frontview: TYE-Wing (DIE-Wing) by Veynom, on Flickr During Lego fairs, these 2 Uglies complete very well my displayed collection of TIEs and rebel Wings, while offering a nice touch of colours and raising many questions. Comments welcome. ;)

Very nice rendering of this initial design of the AT-RT. And such an original idea, congrats. ;)

I never had the time to properly shoot my TIE-Interceptor MOD. Now that Imperial Justice has ruled, I can show you this relatively easy MOD based on the 9492 TIE-Fighter set. Imperial Autonomous Turbolaser Turret by Veynom, on Flickr Imperial Autonomous Turbolaser Turrets (IATT) are pre-assembled heavily armoured turrets that were quickly mounted nearby important fortifications. The twin-barrelled turbolasers served as heavy anti-capital ship weapons and could also annihilate any ground vehicle at very long range. There were however too slow to reliably target fast starfighters. They could punch through both deflector shields and armour on spaceships with the heaviest defensive layers. Imperial Autonomous Turbolaser Turret by Veynom, on Flickr The IATT did not need to be physically connected to any infrastructure as it contained a small power generator to operate. It also contains inside its basement a small hangar bay with a speeder that an operator could use. My son did not want me to completely destroy it and he plays a lot with the new one.

Personally, I simply replaced the 6x4 plate by four 1x4 white tiles and applied custom nose art stickers on top. No picture sadly.

[MOC] Sheathipede-class transport shuttle Evolved
Veynom replied to Veynom's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thank you all for the very positive comments. :) @Reputator: To some extend, I may agree with you regarding the front end. My first version was simply tiled but the pattern was not to my liking, probably because I had no more dark blue tiles. Only then did I changed it to add the "guns" and extra details. But thanks for all the nice and constructive remarks. -
Hi all, I wanted to present this MOC that I built originally for the Evolved contest on FBTB but due to various circumstances, I could not complete it on time. Anyway, I thought it was a brilliant contest idea and therefore I decided to complete my MOC eventually. The most important aspect of a MOC contest is not winning. It is not even participating, but it is definitively building one's own creations. :D Therefore, please let me present you my Sheathipede-class transport shuttle Evolved. Thirty years after the fall of Palpatine, the First Order is running at full speed its rearmament program. In order to be able to quickly ship troops to all corners of the known and unknown galaxy, the First Order looks toward reliable, effective, multi-purpose transport ships providing a flexible and large freight capacity. Some of the First Orders engineers decided to base their design on an old separatist shuttle dating from the Clone Wars: the Sheathipede. And they made it evolve... Sheathipede-class transport shuttle Evolved by Veynom, on Flickr For the very first tests, Captain Phasma is around. Sheathipede-class transport shuttle Evolved by Veynom, on Flickr A bulky rear side which offers a large loading ramp. (Who said "a big a.."?) Sheathipede-class transport shuttle Evolved by Veynom, on Flickr Troops can be landed and quickly get out of the ship. Sheathipede-class transport shuttle Evolved by Veynom, on Flickr I am currently also building several cargo modules that will fit inside and maximise both the playability and flexibility of this ship. Comments are welcome.

Nice mod. The blue will be a great match for this ship. I suggest you replace the white cylindric panels of the engines by the printed one from the first "escape pod" set, like I did on my CR-90. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87222 Also, I would suggest to replace here and there a few grey/white parts by blue ones, to have an even better color scheme.

Thank you so much. :) Well actually, I do no think it is perfect. I want to rebuild the cockpit part to use the Lowell sphere technic instead. I already improved various details and colour-related issues (less red, more dark red) in a version 1.2 that was exposed last summer in Belgium for 2 months. When the cockpit will be redone, I will post better pictures. Thanks for the nice comment! CR-90 Corvette Tantive IV by Veynom, on Flickr

Presenting today a simple speeder bike assembled with the few parts I had at my disposal at that moment. It is obviously not rocket science but it could easily fit into a larger scene. Nice start !!! You managed to make a green A-Wing ? I only made blue, yellow, black and have parts for fullwhite/bley/dark bley. No chance for dark green or orange.

Very nice designs for the turrets, I like them much.

Nice mod as well !!! I particularly like the rear modification below the engines. Good work there. And the fact we end with similar MODs for the small read wings only prove it is a good move. :-p Besides, copying is fully permitting anyway, so if you like something from one my MOCs, feel free to copy shamelessly.

Thanks all for the very nice comments. Always a pleasure to read them. Feel free to copy and improve again as I am confident you can do it easily.

Here is my modified version of the 75103 Lego First Order Transporter. First Order Transporter by Veynom, on Flickr This transport barge is 6 studs longer than the original set. And there is more. First Order Transporter by Veynom, on Flickr I tried to bring a pure studless look to the transporter and this increases the sense of robustness of the barge. First Order Transporter by Veynom, on Flickr I also added a few extra details here and there to break the monotonous aspect of the barge hull: extra grids or bars for example. The side propulsors have been "massified" with some extra details and element that render like extra armor. First Order Transporter by Veynom, on Flickr The apparent technic beams at the rear have been hidden. First Order Transporter by Veynom, on Flickr First Order Transporter by Veynom, on Flickr I removed the spring shooters and replaced the dual stud shooters by a good old E-web for the Empire' sake. The E-web can rotate left, right and up. First Order Transporter by Veynom, on Flickr First Order Transporter by Veynom, on Flickr The rear hull section has become a small platform that can hold some equipment or people when landed. First Order Transporter by Veynom, on Flickr Regarding passenger capacity, it has been increased from 9 to easily 14, including the weapons of the 14 troopers. It can also accommodate a speeder and its crew. First Order Transporter by Veynom, on Flickr The playability has been respected and this is why some studs are still apparent, mainly inside or on the opening front door. I hope you enjoy it! Now I merely need to add a sea, a beach, a bunker and some dying rebel scum! :)

[MOD] Imperial Assault Carrier 75106 - Need advice
Veynom replied to ArchieNov's topic in LEGO Star Wars
A nice little MOD. Simple and effective, indeed. -
Thank you. How big? Very big. This is clearly microscale and one should imagine that the ring hosts the life-support area. So in the end, this is no big ship but maybe a huge ship, if ever built. ;) Thank you ;)
