The UN Headquarters set would be worth it for the trans blue alone - great to see that colour in large quantities.- 174 replies

LEGO Star Wars 10236 Ewok Village
LukeClarenceVan replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Star Wars
A very cool set, I actually thought it was someone's MOC the first time I saw it. Unfortunately a bit out of my price range, I hope Bricklink sellers stock up so I can nab some of those brown flex tubes. -
Yeah, as Si-MOCs said NovaLUG's pretty much it. They do a display at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic each year and occasionally some other minor things. I've heard that the LUG itself is fairly unorganized though, and they don't really do much in the way of meetings, shows, etc. Still, it'd be worth talking to them, I think they've attended Brickfete in the past.

A Viking Homestead My entry for the series 7 CMF contest, built for the Viking Woman figure. She would stand next to her husband as they looked out over the rolling plains of Newfoundland and contemplated their new life. -

I just can't wait to get my hands on those orange leaves, hopefully the set's priced the same as Mirkwood Spiders was. Also, I wonder if the next line will continue the fall foliage trend and introduce yellow?- 7,499 replies

Personally, I feel these sets are more than a little lackluster. They seem overly simple, in colouration and technique. However, I can kind of understand: LEGO has a highly detailed castle line out right now (LOTR), and rather than compete with it they release a line of castle sets for very young kids or adults who miss classic LEGO sets. That's my theory, anyway.

Awesome MOC, all sorts of great texture and architecture. Good colour choice too, though the ground seems a tad choppy due to the bricks. Perhaps plates would work better, though I know sand green plates cost a fortune...

Absolutely perfect swamp technique, though the above water landscape seems a tad off. Still very awesome though, the best swampy water I've ever seen.

So annoying that Disney's gotten rid of TCW and LucasArts. Even if I disliked TCW and wasn't much of a gamer, I will miss them both. Especially LucasArts, a true icon.

A scene I built for the Middle Earth LEGO Olympics, depicting Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli's escape from a flood of sculls in the Paths of the Dead. Which glows in the dark! Thought my glow pieces would give a nice ghostly atmosphere here. Thanks for stopping by!

Fascinating history snapshot, thanks for sharing. Always neat to see things from when LEGO was young, especially different countries. -
Are Star Wars MOC Builders becoming a dying breed?
LukeClarenceVan replied to HJR-Holland's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I haven't done much Star Wars building lately, but that's mostly due to focusing on competitive building. Also, I dislike building Star Wars things if I don't have minifigs to go with it, and since I'm a purist KOTOR and Republic Commando MOCs are limited to me. However, I have quite a few Star Wars MOCs planned, some quite ambitious. ;)
