Hadn't seen anything like this before. Really neat design and will be stolen by me for my layouts! Thanks for sharing Cheers Rog

You and me both then fella! I played at buses when I was very young and then took it a step forward and worked part-time as a bus/coach driver for ten years and then full time as a coach driver for four years... Don't do it any more in real life but LEGO buses and coaches are always an important feature for me! Couldn't agree more! A bus, three minifigs and a bus shelter would be just fine and would hit the same price point as the 2013 truck range. Cheers Rog

I don't think that's the reason. LEGO buses only have capacity for half a dozen minifigs so only getting 2-3 in a set would be a reasonable load so I don't think that's a big enough reason. Cheers Rog

I think that apart from the door it is a better design. The glass doors are better no doubt but the rest of the bus design is better I think. There are a few more details which help - Like the back end which looks like it might contain the engine, the mirror design and the new destination board stickers. I'm sure there are other details as well that we will discover in time but I do agree with you about the doors. This is an easy fix though... What would be nice would be if LEGO were to produce a door which was half width so you could fit two in a standard door frame. This would be an awesome part for us in buses, trains, lifts, etc, etc. Cheers Rog

The City Square is a must have for me to get the bus. Why don't TLG sell any buses on their own like they do with all the trucks which are a similar size? Buses are one of the vehicles where you might want identical multiples... Cynical part of my mind says it's because they know how popular buses would be and that there's suckers like me out there willing to buy these big sets (City Corner, Public Transport and now City Square) just to get the bus! The pizza place and bike shop are OK and can at least very easily be modified into other retail/food outlets plus they don't look as flat and 2D as the City Corner buildings. The crane seems an odd choice and I don't see anything different in it compared to the crane in the construction site from a couple of years ago. Little accessories and ride on mower are fine. I'm a City collector so must have the set anyway and it's a bonus that it includes a bus and new bus stickers so overall I'm happy. Cheers Rog

Thanks and a whole pile of credit to Legocitymann for coming up with the idea and for running the contest! Really enjoyed it! Also, of course, well chuffed with 3rd place especially as it's the frst time that I have entered a building competition on EB. Can't wait for the next one now! Thanks again LCM and well done to all Cheers Rog

I've had a sneaky tally myself but don't think we should share any tallies as that may sway voters. It's pretty clear who top two are without a tally but which way round they finish is still up for grabs. The fight for 3rd and 4th is pretty tight too! Cheers Rog

Yes, there are different LEGO "systems" and TLG have thrown the words system and town around for a great many years and generations of products but I have not seen anything branded as Town before the introduction of minifigs and the yellow Legoland brand in 1978. Before this the earlier minifigs (no arms) and the metal car sets formed parts of town plans and were clearly town based sets but weren't branded as Town anywhere I've ever seen. Cheers Rog

All done! NIce easy one this time. Cheers Rog

Interesting and nice to see lots of petrol stations - and even a car showroom! That's one I don't think has been repeated? However, I would not say that these were the first LEGO Town sets although they were clearly based on buildings you would find in towns. These were the original LEGO System sets but it wasn't until Legoland branded sets were first released in c.1978 that there was a clear distinction made between Town, Castle and Space. Cheers Rog

Can't see any reason why entrants can't vote. I have placed my votes - and even managed to resist the temptation to vote for myself! Cheers Rog

Nice twist! You don't have to go to the middle nowhere to see stations like this. There's one, for example, on the River Thames in Central London a few hundred yards from the Houses of Parliament - although to be fair, I have never seen a Haiwaiian babe on that one... Good job! Cheers Rog

Nice vehicles. I think I will pinch your bus idea to make a command centre. It's common in the UK for fire command centre vehicles to be based on city buses. Like Steve said, do you have any more pictures or details of the fire station itself? Looks very interesting... Cheers Rog

In the last picture it looks good but are you not stretching the 32x32 limit now? Fine for New Mannum but a little unfair in the comp to include a picture with the extra roadway and fencing attached..... Cheers Rog

In the UK forecourt prices are quoted in pence per litre. The price per gallon is too scary to put on signs! Thanks for the feedback everyone! Cheers Rog

Looks great and the brand is instantly reognisable. I really like the sloped roof and the solar panels. Just a shame there wasn't room for a bit more shop... Cheers Rog

The F1's not on until 1400 Sunday here - about 0100 Monday for you? - so don't tell me who won before then...! Cheers Rog

When I have more time I come up with monsters like the fire HQ. In this case a weekend is plenty of time for a 32x32! I had a dopey moment when I read your comment that you "...have to find time today..." and thought you'd better get a move on as it's getting late - then I remembered that you're already in tomorrow! Cheers Rog

I used a standard LEGO invisible RSJ so it's pretty solid! And it is an ice cream freezer. I'm glad it was recognisable. Thanks for the feedback guys! Cheers Rog

Big is the way to go! I'm planning an ambulance station next. Can't decide whether to make it separate or to make it an extension of the fire station... Also, I have changed the mudguards on the fire truck now from yellow to grey and it looks much better. If I have time tomorrow I will try taking one of the axles out too. Cheers Rog
