Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Blakstone replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I did not think I would particularly care for Grand Emporium; however, building it make me really appreciate it. It was the same for the Fire Brigade for me. If you don't have GE, I would recommend it. Hopefully, I will get to the point where I am not snatching these up just before they are gone. -
Lego Castle 2013-Present Value.

Targets in my area are putting 2013 on clearance. It is a great time to get them if you want them. I just got Dragon Mountain for $35 US. -
I don't. Regardless of what mold they would use for the bear, it would have been seen at the London Toy Fair. If Beorn in bear form was going to be in the set, they would have shown a bear there. But I really like the idea of a Ironhills dwarf polybag. I have had good luck with the Hobbit polybags.

How about a compromise? They could do a gas station with a crook and motorcycle cop. The crook could pump his has and leave without paying and the cop can bust him/her for pump piracy. Kids love cops AND pirates. ;-)

I don't think we will ever get an existing license through IDEAS. However, perhaps Hobbit will get a really useful D2C for us. I have seen someone recommend a big Rivendale for that.

Sure they could. We have had four Romans and at least three Native Americans. They would just call him Viking Chieftain. -
Con previews would be much better. Still I think a classic Green Goblin using the holiday elf hat would cause the most nerd rage.

We will either get an entire third wave of LotR or nothing at all. So we really don't have to chose between a Rohan soldier or Eowyn. Hopefully we get that third wave with them and many other highly sought for characters.

Would you like the Vikings theme to return?
Blakstone replied to Alfadas's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The way it has worked for the others is as they approach 10k, they engage all their supporters to help pick. After all for many they continue to revise and update as they gain supporters. -

I recommend having one ideas entry to consolidate support. However, you could show several sets in one entry. You then would pick one of those once you get close to 10k supporters. That is what other successful submitters did. -

I second the panpipes but I really want a Viking helmet without horns. -

Since the CMF Series 12 has the Battle Goddess which is Athena, TLG might only avoid 'modern' religions and would not have any issues doing Norse deities. -

I like the third column as it has the narrow band of white surounded on both side by a wide band of blue. -
Try the new Mixel joints if you want to MOC Treebeard. They are less than $5 US and have smaller ball and socket pieces.

Lego Castle 2013-Present Value.

Since Smaug is coming in October, I would skip Dragon Mountain and just get King's Castle. But I hate Cadtle 2013 minifigs. I bought most of the Kingdom sets off of eBay close to MSRP. My top pick is Kingdom Joust which is still available at Shop.Lego.com. -
The fate of LEGO LotR was always tied to LEGO Hobbit. The disappearance if Hobbit merchandizing shows that this new trilogy hasn't become the sensation that LotR had been. The media landscape is a lot more crowded now. Frankly I think those fans are now the Game of Throne fans today. But it is a bit unfair to blame LEGO Hobbit for the fate of LEGO LotR. If they had done better sales, LEGO LotR would have prospered more too.

During The LEGO Movie press junket, LEGO executives said that they had designed the sets for Batman v Superman; however, since the movie got pushed back, they have to design ones for 2015. I believe it was the same interview where they first said that Superhereos are now an evergreen theme.

I think you will get that dress piece. But I think the princess will get the new wizard hat in a different color instead of hair.- 1,109 replies

While I would enjoy single "painted ladies" style modulars, I think the Bike Shop / Cafe is the closest we will get. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion

Spooky girl is good though the spider print limits the uses a bit. I would probably get a couple of them. The prospector I could take or leave. I would not be disappointed if I got one, but I have no Western MOCs planned. I am still undecided on the piggy guy. I wanted something creepier for a Wicker Man style MOC. I might still be able to pull it off if I just use the head though. I am curious as to what he would look like with a solid black head. Hmmm....- 1,109 replies

I get the point of the IDEAS original designer that most scientist wear casual clothes. So they made an exclusive print for the chemist which wear lab coats. But I find the inclusion of very common female torsos disappointing. The one with the scarf is most disappointing since I believe it was first created as a flight attendant and also used as a sales clerk. The torso with the necklace just seems very overused... especially by me since I made that the uniform for my modular bike shop.

The review is wrong. It was introduced this year with the Arctic Base Camp. http://brickset.com/...t-#40-60036-#41 So it is a new this year print but not exclusive to this set. Still I am some what likely to buy the Research Institute but I won't be getting the Arctic Base Case. <EDIT> Just2Good and Alatariel are correct. The chemist has a new print.

While I was hoping for some new minifig prints, this is still a good deal for $20. I am trying to determine if I have any use for the constellation print. It might work in the tarot reader's apartment.

Would you like the Vikings theme to return?
Blakstone replied to Alfadas's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I agree that LEGO really needs a new, horn free Viking helmet if they bring this back as a theme. A LEGI IDEAS submission cannot have any new molds. After looking through all the helmets on Brickset, the best substitution I can fold is the Rohan helmet. Peter Jackson largly based their culture on Vikings. -
While I would like a warpig, I doubt LEGO would justify the expense of them. They were able to reuse the wargs in the second wave. Instead all of that budget likely went into Smaug. If we were going to get a warpig, someone would have seen a stand in at the London Toy Fair.
