  1. The Simpsons line came out AFTER Lord of the Rings. If you noticed, I said "still the contract was negotiated WHEN..."
  2. I agree that wave 2 likely was not go if to be the end. I think it was all The LEGO Movie sets that took up the shelf and production space. But the Top Gear sets are also in the 2015 catalog.
  3. I have seen Hobbit action figures for the first film. They did all end up in the clearance bin though. Still the contract was negotiated when they planned on having action figures and they had not used CMF for a license.
  4. Please do and let us know what response, if any, you receive.
  5. I think we might want to buy some FB ads to promote the petition. You can target by age as well as people both interested in LEGO and Lord of the Rings.
  6. While I would welcome any additional Middle Earth minifigs, there will not be any LotR characters coming in a Bluray set. It is possible that there will be an exclusive Hobbit figure, but that is not clear. The last Bluray came with an existing Legalos minifig.
  7. It was decision for Battle Goddess after all my Athena purist custom has been my avatar for a long time. Picking a top 5 would be harder. I am really into the historic and some fantasy CMF.
  8. Still there are no non exclusive sets coming in 2015 as they are not in the catalog. A Hobbit D2C would likely have their minifigs listed with the others in the wave 3 instructions. So there is not a D2C coming either.
  9. I would think the black arrow would be on the tallest structure. Whomever took the photo did not feel like it was important enough to take care to include in the photo. There is obviously something there but I doubt it is big.
  10. I picked up my third Wizard Battle. I keep thinking that Saruman's hair / beard would make an excellent druid to fight my Romans. Of course, that is what I thought when I bought the second set too.
  11. I have thought about armored trolls. That said I would take the current troll with armor that would snap onto him. New mordor orc helmets would be great, but even them would rank below new Gondor helmets and another Rohan helmet for Eowyn.
  12. Herky, I think it is an economy of scale though. They are likely to sell a lot more copies of the book than an one set of instructions. I never bought any of their instructions but it might be a repackage of them. If I come across the book at Barnes and Noble, I will buy it. I haven't planned an Amazon order for it though.
  13. Rockethead, it is impressive work. At first I did not really notice the changes. It took going to Brickset and comparing the initial set photos with yours. You and your wife were able to complete the buildings while keeping the same design feel as the original sets. Great work.
  14. That is if you compare non licensed LEGO to a licensed line. I would suggest you compare instead to action figures. Back in the day, I wanted the main heroes in Stars Wars and really wanted a lot of Stormtroopers to threaten them with. A random rebel soldier might be nice but I wanted as many Stormtroopers as possible. That was the only way for me to feel that the heroes were in danger. Han, Luke, Leia, and Chewbacca versus one or three Stormtroopers was not an even match. If I had a dozen, that would have been something. For the Hobbit, you get thirteen dwarves, Bilbo, Gandalf and other allies. You need a lot of orcs to out number them. I think they is even why we got the army builder polybags for Mirkwood Elf Guard and Laketown Guard so that they could threaten the protagonists. In the Bot5A, they might assist the good guys but until then they are an enemy force. Of course, there is more nuance there, but this is simplified kids logic.
  15. "There are levels of survival we are prepared to accept."
  16. The issue with a Hobbit CMF series is a matter of timing and of contract. Another toy company has the contract for Hobbit action figures. So LEGO cannot sell minifigures without another of a build to be considered a construction toy. Even if LEGO was able to restructure their contract with the WB for a CMF line, we know that Series 12 goes live in September. The next CMF line won't appear for approx another 4 months. The Battle of the Five Armies will have left the movie theatre before then and the demand will be gone. The LEGO Movie and The Simpsons were the only licensed minifigure lines. Both lines were planned from the beginning to include CMF. New licenses and evergreen licenses may use CMF if that is spelled out in contract negotiations. But that innovation came to late to help the Middle Earth line.
  17. I think the labeling of Armored Dwarf Guard is because the leaked photo did not have the names of the minifigs on front. While the minifigures were visible in the box, the labels were out of the frame. However, the minifig had the mohawk like Dain. it will be him. Of course, since the mohawk is a different color from the helmet and likely removable, it could still be reused for a generic polybag. But an orc is more likley for the polybag as it could fight the good guys.
  18. He is but the hat is only used twice. Once in that set and once in the Laketown Chase. So it would not be unreasonable for a polybag to have Thorin with his new crown. It would be a reuse from this wave.
  19. Here is the link to the thread where the movie talk should go. I am not a fan of the Bigfigs and hopefully LEGO won't do as many as the LEGO Marvel Superheroes games shows. They look the posability and interchangeability that minifigures have. I would feel differently if they were more standardized.
  20. And from a kid's point of view they were bad guys that threatened Aragorn et al until they turned good.
  21. LEGO did use a unique hat with printing for the Laketown Guard. So I don't think that would be much of an impact for an Iron Hills Dwarf polybag. I agree that an orc is more likely as LEGO is about giving us more named heroes and more adversaries, not unnamed allies. LEGO said that they are treating The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings as a separate but related line. The fact that LotR wave 2 did not have any polybags did not stop Hobbit wave 2 from having them later. Isn't the exclusive figure with the Bluray a Target exclusive in the US? If so, it is up to Target to continue that if they chose. The switch of an exclusive Bilbo to a rehash of Legolas does not bode well though.
  22. I have looked into Herocia and there are some good threads there with suggestions on what pieces to get if you want to get into MOCs. I remember buying a bunch of 1 x 1 clear round plates for making waterfalls. I had not opened the bag on them yet though. Alcarin, Bricklink is like a crack dealer. I look back and every month I make a purchase from there. It is too easy. The Pick a Brick on Shop.LEGO.com takes way to long for me in the United States. That portion of our orders is shipped for Europe.
  23. Lots of great advice in here. Some I already do and others I want to incorporate. My addition is: "To get better at building, you must build." You don't have to show your work to others. You just have to do it over and over again. You will refine technique and enjoy the process. When you are ready, you can share your work. One of my major problems is that I often I need a new piece to continue a MOC and then I stop until I order the part to continue. That focus has been really limiting. It makes more for a LEGO part sorter than a MOCer. Inspiration from another thread lead me to buy a the LEGO calendar set. Each month I have to build a new vignette around the calendar using the pieces that I have. None of these MOCs have been the level where I wanted to share with Eurobricks. But it has been a joy... even if I am not always perfectly happy with the outcome.
  24. Ocifant, I can see LEGO doing another minimodular for the sixth through tenth modulars. Without knowing the sell figures for sets, we don't know if the minimodulars were popular or not. Personally, I did not get them. I don't think they read well visually unless you are really familiar with the modulars they represent. The modulars have a wow factor to them that impress even non LEGO fans. They instantly read of a style of a time and place that seems familiar to many around the world. That is except the Palace Cinema but that does not bother me since I have been to Hollywood a couple of times and it just reminds me of that visit. If I wanted to work on a reduced scale, I would collect the Architecture line. Those are amazing but I buy too many different LEGO themes as it is already.
  25. For a Bluray exclusive, I think it will be another Bilbo. Old Bilbo would be very good but a bit expected. If we get two polybags like the other Hobbit waves, I would expect either Thorin or Bard for the first polybag. The second one would be an army builder. It seems more likely an orc as the other polybags were of antagonists. Both the Mirkwood Elf Guards and the Laketown Guards were working against the Company at the time of their release. However, if we really want to be optimistic, perhaps that polybag will be an Iron Hills Dwarf using Dain's helm. The prior polybags, unlike the Bluray promotions, do not have even new prints. So an armored elf is out of the question.
