It took me a while to appreciate the sand blue of the central tower, but I quite like it as a low-key accent/change of pace from the usual. The little scenes of minifigs scattered throughout are lovely and the full interior is just awesome. Great, inspiring work once again Ecc!

The tower is a strong section of this build for me and I love the flipper roof technique--eventually I'll have enough flippers to try it myself! I think the hap hazard vegetation detracts some from this MOC though. I wonder what it would look like if you only used the flower stem piece, or if you didn't use any of the flower stem pieces.

Crisp build Kai. Those torsos work really well to get some subtle angles into the the timber framing.

Somehow I haven't posted in this thread until now! I certainly like the progress so far. I noted how well you've used the various tiles as carved wood but those horn torches are a great idea too.

I saw this and immediately thought "dang! we're building the same same thing!" Seriously though, this is well executed. The head of this beast is amazing and locating the action in swamp was a great idea with excellent landscaping to follow it through. Love that fire effect near the shield, but I wish it was thicker in the middle where the bar piece is. Dunno about the tree either, shape is great but the lack of texture in the trunk kind of conflicts with the nicely detailed & textured landscaping everywhere else. Good luck in competition!

Holy crap, I totally missed this when you posted this. The statue is just soooo good! Definitely reminds me of those two big statues in TLotRs Fellowship movie on either side of the river. Awesome, awesome shaping.

Ugh! I'm jealous of y'all with PaB walls stocked with nice pieces. I went to one over winter holiday and they had nothing worth asking them to scoop into a cup. I like this MOC though. Nice color choices and very effective usages of your PaB haul!

Looks like you lit the interior by removing the roof for the close-in shot? Nice idea if so. Solid MOC here again jtooker! You really cranked these out for the CCC this year.

You've gone a little bit crazy lately with color choices SK, but I like it! I also like how the effect created by the rounded plates around the door is echoed by a similar effect with those slope pieces in the roofed section.

Every builder ought to have this in their favorites really. Nice to be reminded what you can do with only the most basic elements and some talent for picking colors. Awesome work on this trophy, and a (very) belated thank you for running the Joust!

I knew this MOC was going to be epic based on your WIP posts over on Discord of the spider, but you also totally nailed the landscaping/foliage here. Really great work with the 3-leaf part and also with keeping things under control enough to not have the dio get away from you from a composition stance.

Great series. For me, I like the sawmill build best overall--I'm impressed by how much you crammed into that footprint in that one, but the workshop is a close 2nd.
-
This is so cool jtooker! The general "cleanness" here really forces the viewer onto the figs and the trans-neon green elements. Something I know I struggle with is making the MOC composition too busy so seeing something built like this reminds me to dial the "extras" back when I'm building. Do you own a black light? Using one to light the MOC from above with the regular lighting turned down would probably look AWESOME.

The journey of Parzival - Snakes of Mophet (Chapter I, part V)

I'm late to the comment party here, but this is such an epic collaboration guys! So many details scattered all over and even though there's multiple builders here, the whole layout looks very cohesive. Fantastic work all around! -
Nice MOC LordDan! Good to see you back in the Guilds! Like some of the others have said, the roof could have used a stud or two more area in all directions for my eye. The color choice there doesn't bug me too much though. I really dig that technique for getting the alligator head to look like it's just peeking up out of the swamp!

One of these days I'm going to do a cheese slope mosaic. One of these days...... This is cool little vignette adde51. Lighting the window from behind is great and I'm amazed a how well you were able to get all the triangles to fit inside those slopes!

Ruins are tough to do with LEGO. These are quite well executed however! Covering the top with snow I think definitely helps round off the jagged edges and corners you often seen with ruins in this MOC's stud footprint and I really like the effect.
-
I did not know that! Thanks for the info.

It depends on the exact part number of the arch. The older ones especially, yes, you can attach a stud into the grove under the arch. Examples using various arch elements from various builders: 1, 2, 3, 4. Some of the new molds for arches have thinned out the webs such that you can't get a stud to stick anymore. There was some really good analysis of the differences in some of the blogs when the changes first came out. I don't know if the web thinning has happened to every arch mold. If I had any of that part number, I'd try it out and let you know, but I can't find any in my inventory!

I love these types of updates to old and often beloved sets from the past. This one is executed quite well!

Like Grover, this also reminds me of a scene from GoT. The ruins are quite well done here, like the inclusion of cattails in the foreground.

The corner blocks jumped out at me as a particularly nice technique as well. Nice work here. Would love to see what you can do with a landscape to place this on!
