  1. You sould not need to drill. The string will "slide" in the grooves. I made a big crawler cane with my Technic beams and at 5 pounds on the arm the string stil slid in the grooves. However the size of the string also important. Smaller size string can make a groove in the groove and bigger string doesn't hurt the pullies. The size in the pic is the right size for use under load, no wearing out of the pullies.
  2. That's what I said when it came out. The amount of PF parts, plus the bucket, and the license = a high retail price. It has been talked about HERE. If you don't have all of those PF parts or want to add to MOC'ing resorces, then it's a fair buy. But this is about 2015, and I might get a few of the 1H models.
  3. Well I finally got a start. I decided to try a gear rack and it worked! Geared down it has more power than pneumatics and LA's, and still fits into the width I wanted. Here is my start... http://www.bricksafe.com/files....TireChanger2lxf
  4. Her is what Brick Link has... http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?v=3&pg=1&sortBy=D&sortAsc=D&catType=P
  5. What about this? http://news.lugnet.com/technic/?n=16651
  6. I had warped/bent plates/base plates and used hot water. Was cleaning one day and it made me remember that they bend when hot. So I grabbed the bigger ones, ran them under hot water all over, and let them dry on a flat surface. They're clean and flat.
  7. But if you look at sets with PF (included or added in) they are built in to the model. I'm not going to hold the batt box and remote to play with an rc Lego car.
  8. Did that. They are too weak and plus the Lego tires have a lip that sits in s grove on the rim. Has any one else have a try?
  9. Well there are other options...
  10. The assemblely on the side is the hard part. The large LA just has enough power, but it might easier if I could find do something like that triangle piece in Lego.
  11. There was a discusion in a topic some and mentioned the "S" motor that was on Cuussoo. But it will not be made for to reasons... 1- As long as the M motor can still be used insted. Meaning the designers make the M motor fit in the model and it doesn't look ugly. 2- They will not see a return on the investment of R&D of a smaller motor. It would likely be used in maybe 3 sets over 4 years. However, if they did invest in a smaller (or micro) motor, they would need to make a smaller power source for the "new, smaller motor". This way the "new" motor and power source could be incorperated into more models. Like 2 or 3 medium and small models a year, would help offset the R&D invesment quicker.
  12. Had that problem with a Technic model before. I had to rebuild it right next to the saved model till I found the problem. It was with the "Auto Align" button. Used it and it twisted the model two degrees.
  13. Excellent work! Now I want to see the movies again!
  14. So I forgot... DISCLAIMER: Tires NOT included.
  15. I was thinking of something different to build. Then it came to me, a Tire Changer.... I was like "Totally different and and would be a good build." Then I got to thinking "No, a tire changer that could do Lego (Technic) tires. That would different and AWSOME." But as I start to work on a "rough draft" of the put that breaks the bead of the tire, the small LA is weak. So maybe I'll try pneumatic cylinder to keep a small form. And I'll try the large LA too in a few hours. This is not exactly my WIP, but a community WIP. Given the difficulty of this concept, everyone's ideas, thoughts, and work would be great. Maybe, together, we can make a tire changer for Lego.
  16. I'm getting it as a Christmas gift, so go me! But as a collector set, wait for a really good discount. As a parts set, I say yes, but only if you need the PF. Other wise you're paying for Volvo's licensing, the bucket, and the PF you don't need. But for me it's free and I need the PF parts. P.S. The bucket does count as a fair amount of pieces. I got a 2014 police sets with the large raft and felt a little sort changed.
  17. Well would it be a Model Team then? Look at 5571-1, it has less Technic and almost the same part count and is called Model Team.
  18. But I want it for the non-Technic parts too.
  19. I used This or This with This for this... And here is the 2x4 Liftarm...
  20. I seen them at Toy's R us Saturday.
  21. Well I'm trying to make a loader with no black or as little as possible, if that's any consolidation. But it will be red.
  22. You also have to look at the real thing being recreated in Lego. Most of the big and/or popular stuff is RED, YELLOW, and BLACK.
  23. It looks like some ARMY prototype RC gun.
  24. A locking and limited slip diff can be more work to in Lego.
