Oko grins through the whole thing, but Marcellus is forced to be tied to a pillar after he continuously loses his balance. Eventually they reach the coast of the High Kingdoms and sail along that, Marcellus watching the forest every day. One day his gaze narrows. He turns to Yu Shu. "Here." The ship finds a good place to lay anchor near by and Yu Shu pays the crew before the party rows ashore in a row boat. She tells them they can return home - she will contract a ship out of Newharbour for their return trip. Once on shore, Marcellus takes the lead. "It shouldn't take more than a day or two," he assures them. "Good." Yu Shu rolls her neck. "Now listen up. I've told you I don't know exactly who we'll be facing, or how many their numbers are, but I do have a good guess as to one or two of their leaders. The Order Imperial is spread wide, sure, but so are the Paladins. It seems likely that Bella Artesia is the Grand Master of this faction. She and her brother, Simon Artesia, are the children of a noble family in one of the smaller kingdoms. Around her eighteenth birthday she became the advisor and most likely concubine to the King, advised radical militarization of the kingdom and attempted deport all those who did not follow Ennoc. Paladins in the area went to investigate, and were attacked shortly after arriving within the Kingdom. They questioned her. She attempted to kill them all, and nearly did too, revealing herself to be a powerful mage. When the battle turned against her, she fled." "The Paladins attempted to question her brother, a young lad they assumed could not be involved in his sister's misdeeds. He simply chuckled at them the whole time, and disappeared in the dead of the night. His parents let us know that he is a prophet." "Its also likely that we'll run into Ser Bernard the Never Blessed. He is a faceless knight, a member of the Angelic Legion. He often raids small villages in the High Kingdoms, stealing their food and purging them of the heathen. He's never made any attempt to hide his identity or his deeds. We can hope he is out on a raid, but be prepared." The group falls to silence then. Oko growls deeply.
  5. "I have no shame. Whatever punishment you devise... that will be for you to implement and me to withstand." Boomingham picks up his swords and sheaths them all. "We're only responsible for ourselves, after all." He spits one final time. "I hope that ship still has booze. I need a drink."
  6. "None. It has been..." and she trails off. "Don't worry." Yu Shu supports Avery. "We'll get you into bed." The two of them head under deck. Marcellus frowns and starts to polish his shield, though it was not even used in the battle.
  7. Boomingham burps when hit in the stomach, and then spits as he is hit in the jaw. He drops his sword. "It's done, Karie." He spits again. "No one good deed can repair what he's done. Think of the lives he stole. Ah, but what the Hel. This isn't a debate." Boomingham looks up at Barty. "Some help you were." "You should have killed him." "Yeah yeah, I know." Boomingham retches, but controls himself. "Alright, enough, Karie. I left him alive. He's paid his debt to me, as far as I care. So we'll leave it. I'm done. The Reaper is dead, and the Stealer has paid his debt. That's it. Punching me won't bring his arm back anymore than cutting off his arm gave back those folks lives. We're done."

I think 2-3 Maples is a safe guess. It depends on if we think the SK is still around or not - we have 4 felled unconfirmed, which means either 4 maples and an active SK, or 3 maples and a dead SK.

"But that was one creature. We are facing an army. So still, I advise bracing yourself for the worst." "I will. She will have time to rest before we arrive." "My apologies. That will not happen again," Avery says, looking each hero in the eye in turn.

Strong Tentacle - Critical Hit/Critical Hit (KO) Pretzel throws a bomb that bursts into rapidly growing flowers and vines that cover the deck and slice through a number of the tentacles. The rest of the party sees an opening and Grimwald is able to electrocute one of the larger tentacles. It's charred remains slam pathetically on the deck before tumbling down into the sea. Kiray is able to hack at the remaining tentacle, and Avery flies towards it though it whacks her out of the air and she lands on the deck with a heavy thud. Eventually it is Yu Shu who bounds forward and with a clever twist of her whole body is able to bring her blades around twice, severing the tentacle. The party is safe and victorious! "I still have something to finish up," says Boomingham. "I'm happy I helped that beasty out of this world, but that's not why I was here. Stealer, you know that I'd come for you one day. Before anyone can react Barty shoots up a few feet above the Stealer and Boomingham's head and creates a protective barrier. The party watches as the two men square off. The same arm he once held his dastardly device in. Boomingham swiftly heals the stump. "Don't make me regret it, chap. Onwards and upwards. I just gave you your life. Don't make a waste of it." And the magical barrier drops. Boomingham turns to his party. "If you can't stand me, nows the time to say it. We've got a long boat trip ahead of us, I'd hate for it to be awkward."

Oko takes out a fishing pole and begins to fish. He chuckles at himself. "But of course it is what it is. I don't mind. It will just take strong men to build a tradition there, a way to view the world and idea of purpose, good and bad, service, all that."
  24. I'm still not 100% sold that they don't have some multi-shot janitor. The stumps are proving a great aid to the Oaks, and I continue to believe they must be balanced out some how. That being said, for the time being I have absolutely no trouble assuming that the non-stump trees are Maples. I'd figure that at least two of them are, so it seems like a better assumption - so we can actually start to get some answers and analyze behavior - is to act like they all are. That being said, its totally possible there is no janitor. But that's all sort of just guesswork that doesn't matter either way because I think it's safe to treat stumps as not Oak regardless of how they're becoming non-stumps. And it seems like Simon is cleared. Chester has been tickling me since Day 2. Berty has as well. I don't know why a Maple would claim Miller so early and while not under scrutiny, but I can understand a Maple claiming Miller (obviously) and he's been very not helpful since then. On top of that, the fact that he claimed so late in the day is interesting. Perhaps he wanted to claim it, but not at a time that he would have been scrutinized (and no lynch could have really built against him). Once the night passed no one really questioned it or discussed it much. I'm also willing to see where the Town Block leads us.
