  1. Thank you for the explanation. You sure have a future in Hollywood :) Incidentally, your description reminds me of the movie French Connection, where in one scene, they had two train cars colliding against each other. Apparently (I read somewhere), the scene was shot in reverse, and the cars were actually moving away from each other, just like you did. Very clever!
  2. Here is what I have so far. Progress is slow, naturally. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=563453
  3. I can see what used to a be a Murcielago in that BMW.
  4. Agreed, the mechanics are relatively simple. The biggest challenge is in the image acquisition and then processing for shape/color recognition. Well, color is easy, of course. I bet the builder used a computer to do all the shape recognition algorithm.
  5. Simply stunning! Then again, like everything else you've built/shared. Got one question though: In the beginning, there are many forklifts putting together the Vayamenda logo. It appears they were all moving at the same time and this would have been extremely difficult to choreograph their motions with the remotes. So the question is: Were they all moving at the same time or was that some very clever video editing? This also begs another question, and I hope it's ok to ask: How many forklifts you've built and how many S-bricks you used?
  6. Maybe off topic but, I like that custom-made monorail. Care to tell a bit more?
  7. Not sure what to make of this, but I'll be the first to go on record and say 3.8 kg is rather excessive. How reliable is that swiss website? Do we have the mass/weight of other flagships, just for comparison?
  8. Here is a thought experiment. If we take all the posts in this thread, and split them into: 1. Questions 2. Real information 3. Repeat questions/answers 4. Speculations 5. Wishes 6 ... I'm sure we can reduce the number of 'useful' posts from 1147 to maybe 50 at the most. The question really is, what is the signal-to-noise ration in this thread? what is useful, and what is not? ... No intention to offend anyone, naturally, but it's becoming very difficult to keep track. I'll just wait until the set is out, that the most logical way. Note: This post also qualifies as 'useless' comment.
  9. Shows maturity, to look at oneself in the mirror, and throw all sorts of unspeakable #@$%& at the reflection ... Need some wipes to clean up though. lol
  10. That was exactly my thought. In this modern day and age, it is very difficult to remain neutral and yet rely on known brands. The simplest example I can think of is the Octan brand that TLG came up with so as not to support any oil companies out there who have always had a love/hate relationship with the public at large. Tough to strike a neutral balance when at the same time you want a recognizable brand, yet a reputable high ethics corporation. I have not seen any lego set depicting Coca Cola ... is that because of South Africa ? There was a time where people were urged to boycott CocaCola because of their apparent support of apartheid ... see, this could drag on and on.
  11. Thank you very much. I'm on a business trip this week, and hopefully on the weekend I can do more work on the LDD and share. Cheers.
  12. While many would argue (playfully) he's never come up with a MOC of his own, we're constantly immersed by his contributions to this hobby. Be it the many renders he's prepared, Technicopedia, or the other major build threads (Akiyuki GBCs) that we all keep coming back to. How many of us have decided to buy parts and build a MOC not because we saw a picture or video, but more because of oe of his renders? I still have the yellow Murcielago on display). So, the topic in this thread is to ask for comments on what you thought of his contributions, or better yet, how would this hobby (your addiction) be were it not for his renders and other contributions? PS. He's made no plans to retire yet, and I wish him many more years being actively engaged in this forum. SR71 = name of stealth plane BlackBird = Angel of Retribution
  13. I was tempted to say those were fake as I've seen many china-made replicas. Do they have the lego logo on them? and, did u buy them from a reputable source?
  14. +1 on the hot water bath. Tried and works fine. As for microwave, it's tempting but afraid it'll damage them permanently.
  15. Could you possibly post more pictures of the front grille, transmission. and rear/panels ... trying to do an LXF but stuck with some details, especially with the black (hard to see) parts.
  16. Not sure why but, every time I read the thread title I somehow skip the 'works' and only read bodyparts ... and that sounds really gruesome. That said, nice work though.
  17. Let me guess, somewhere in the UAE (Gulf States) ?
  18. Beautiful, Novel, ... and rather Refreshing. I'm tempted to start an LXF for this beauty. Thank you for sharing.
  19. No wonder I could not find the thread ... as it changed name. Though I'm pleasantly surprized with the progress. We all (most) try to finish the build in one session only. However, watching your progress, I wonder if we all got it wrong. My next set, I'll try to do one sub-system a day and see how long I can make it last. As for the english-to-english dictionary, reminds me of a while back I stayed in Canada, and the saying there goes along: 1- What do you call someone who speaks 3 languages? ... Trilingual 2- What do you call someone who speaks 2 languages? ... Bilingual 3- What do you call someone who speaks 1 language? ... Canadian of British descent ... ;)
  20. My son does the same thing ... he would destroy an entire set because he needs a specific part buried very deep inside. Of course, he does not keep track of what parts he took :(
  21. How about a planetary / multi-stage gear reduction system? ... or maybe a rocking chair?
  22. I have those wheels too ... lol
  23. I bought the whole set of blue panels that came with the blue F1 car years back ... not likely to see an MOC with those, as they're not too common
  24. Are those rims custom (3D printed) ? I do not recall seeing them in any official Lego set.
  25. Looking at SR71 continuously growing collection (in recent threads), I can only imagine the conversation with his significant other (SO) at the dinner table ... SR71: Honey, I think we're gonna need to upgrade to a bigger house ... SO: Are you nuts? We've been here for barely 2 years ... SR71: I know, but my !MOCs are feeling crowded ... SO: You and your addiction, but, then again, I'm glad I did not marry Jay Leno.
