  1. Nice collection that you have. I think the white Alfa-Romeo (winner of a TC contest) deserves a place among the white cars. As for color, let's not forget one of the very first MOCs: The Lamborghini Murcielago in YELLOW. I think it the King's Offspring ... err ... Koenigsegg
  2. LOL ... the question was about GBC balls ... not part of the male anatomy!
  3. A huge excavator with a rotating super-structure, just like 8043
  4. Just to help the discussion ... The OP is debating between these two vehicles
  5. I was able to do the quarter panels in LDD rather easy, but once I tried to attach them to the main body, there was no way. Now, here is maybe a workaround. The 'crazy' angles are difficult in LDraw, but much easier in LDD because of the auto-align-snap feature. In principle, one should be able to create such assemblies in LDD, then export them to LDraw. The real question then is: Does an LDD to LDraw file export function exists? I know LDD can read (to some extent) LDR files, but I'm not aware of the other way around.
  6. I've seen those, and to me that was a show stopper. Again, as much as I like LDD's ease of use, the no collision feature is really hindering. Did not notice BlakBird's render ... what an amazing piece! You need to start thinking about starting your own Lego School for 3D Design ...
  7. About 4 years ago, there was a seller on eBay who had bags of 25 balls, each for $10.00 ... I bought 4 bags (2 are still sealed). So far 50 balls were 'plenty', though I agree that with the factory, I may have to open the other 2 bags.
  8. What do you mean? The MOC does not have a gearbos as it is driven directly by electric motors. Do you want to modify it and add a gearbox + fake engine?
  9. Thank you Zblj, your skills definitely are way higher than mine. I can tweak few parts here and there, but sometimes when I build whole sub-assemblies and then try to attach them to the main vehicle, I can't. This is especially true if those main assemblies connect to the vehicle at MULTIPLE points. As much as I appreciate LDD ease-of-use and snap-to-piece features, collisions and funky (crazy) alignments are almost impossible to handle (at my skill level, of course). In any event, I'll put few more hours into the body and then come back for your help, as you so generously offered.
  10. Until the day I can do MLCad as fast as others on here (with my eyes closed), I'd have to settle for LDD. Of course, with ease of use comes the challenge of collisions (LDD is NOT forgiving). So, here is my attempt, it's about 50% done, fell free to build upon. http://www.brickshel...adoka_truck.lxf There are other WIP sub-assemblies in the LXF file.
  11. My dream summer job ... work at Lego for a summer, and pick-up / collect (save) all the trashed prototypes LOL
  12. Well, thinking of my naboo fighter (below), how about some chrome accents?
  13. @ SR71 ... Show your 'feminine' side, by using lady colors in your builds (as you did on the GBC factory). One never knows.
  14. Question #1: I recall for the 8450 The Mission, the designer mentioned that they were 'forced' to use the 19L flex axles. Hence the question: Are specific parts introduced based on true needs or are there 'other' compelling reasons? If so, what are they? (e.g. too much stock of a specific part). Question #2: There was a time where the color selection for any given part was all over the spectrum and that did not help production. Now that the new injection machines can color the parts on the spot, would we see a resurgence of new/more colors under the technic theme (this seems to be the trend).
  15. Good Initiative. I think to make the thread a bit more appealing, I'd add photos of the various MOCs ... some of us get lazy and do not want to click through multiple hot-links.
  16. I'm impressed ... what can I say! Thank You. :)
  17. This is good ... I was not even aware such axle existed in real life ... lol
  18. I'm at work and no access to my computer. The steps I'm having difficulties with are 63 to 66 (seats) in the link below. Some parts I could not assemble not sure if it's an alignment or the actual parts are bent/stressed in the MOC. http://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipMZaPB7a6psHaYBAZwmXV5CHDhVhX9udIKB0Ol_FyH24ZFbn8r1b3U6QcXBD9ysEw?key=WndWREhOclhHSEp3a0hjZURKSmYyU3o2Q3FpMHBR
  19. If you have a significant other, better buy something nice for them before this set launches ... especially that there are 4 must-have sets out there (BWE, Clarion, Volvo, Porsche). It's going to be an expensive summer.
  20. Beautiful. This was my second set (after the red tractor). Thank you for bringing back long-gone memories.
  21. Looks like we reached the same conclusion ... but you reached it way ahead of me . Now, another 'serious' issue is the seats, some of the parts undergo full 3D rotations, and I have not been able to align them. The part with the L motor I totally skipped, but I read in a different thread that an new LDD update came up that has the L motor and other technic parts. Well ... give up not, at least not yet.
  22. The only free museums I've been to are those in Washington DC, and the Museum of Science in Boston. Well, as an MIT student, you get free passes to many places in Boston. Though, I agree Chicago has become 'unlivable'. In addition to entrance fee and the 45 mins drive, you need to add parking, which is NOT cheap. Yes, the town is a central destination for tourists from the midwest, but it's an expensive destination. As for the $98 weekend citypass, it's a rip-off in itself. If you're visiting the town for a long weekend, do you really want to spend the whole time in museums? By the time we're done with museum #1, the kids are tired and cranky ...
  23. This is great news ... got tired of using built-up contraptions of the L motor.I'm sure there are other 'pleasant' surprises as well.
  24. You do not need the parts. From just the LDD, it appears to me there are issues. UNless the author physically built it and was not able to build it in LDD (which is very strict).
  25. My wish was granted ... a flagship with NO tires, unless you count the small truck!
