  1. I'm curious, Do you do some sort of mathematical modeling before coming up with 'optimum' kinematics or is it just trial and error (+ intuition of course).
  2. I like 9394 too, but it looks much better with the wings pushed back, kinda like a military fighter jet. The official photo (on the box) does not reflect its 'full potential'.
  3. Very nice indeed. Tells us more about the excavator, I do not recognize it. Your own MOC?
  4. I just got these off eBay (at 30% off). I was a bit hesitant at first but they turned out to have a very nice/clean finish and I'm rather pleased. I tried them on Mahjqa's Grudge but they're too big for it and I'd need to get the smaller version. Now all I need is a project to put them to good use, any ideas? http://www.ebay.com/...650a07f&vxp=mtr
  5. Amazing what one can do in 'polar' coordinates .... Felicitations pour cette merveille!
  6. That is rather interesting. I am not too familiar with the arm geometry. Typically the first two parts are a single one (in NA machines). Possibly the reason it is so in above picture is so you can fold the arm 'completely' for while in transport. Keep up the good work. I noticed that as well. This machine has more degrees-of-freedom than an operator can handle at once ... I'll look it up and get back.
  7. Not sure what you mean ... but let us remain civil and not make this 'personal'. It was an opinion, if you do not like it, move on. Thank you for reminding me of my 'first right' ... I'm looking forward to your inspiring MOCs. Anything in the works?
  8. Beautiful piece, that must have cost a fortune ... especially the 5x11 orange panels. Though, putting such delicate lego parts on Hard/Rough Concrete is a crime! I never take my parts out, and my worktable is covered with a cloth ...I am very 'protective' of my bricks.
  9. Agreed! I was looking at the sets that came out in 2013 ... and realized that out of the Technic theme, I only got 41999/42000. All others are so déja-vu. I do not need a crane, tractor, or backhoe every other year ... unless it is with genuine new parts. If we want to stay with construction equipment, how about a moto-grader? I have seen many MOCs and requests for an official set.
  10. One of them sold for about US $100 two weeks ago on eBay ... such a pity ...
  11. I'm sure you can, but the mechanical losses would make for a very 'inefficient' charger.
  12. Tell me more .... anything GBC sounds interesting ... almost. I bought it standalone ... when I got my RCX 2.0 .... back in 2003. Back then, it and other sets (vision command, .. etc) were labeled "Mindstorms Add-Ons" on TLG's website ... I somehow thought It'll be useful, but not really.
  13. Yours must have been from a 'stronger' batch then ... Good thing is, I bought some extra off bricklink when they came out so, in principle I should be able to rebuild all my sets that came with them (8466, 8454) and possibly have some leftover ...
  14. I've had this capacitor 9916 sitting in my electrical box for years now. All of his neighbors (motors & lights) are rather busy. While I can charge it and watch it discharge when I connect a motor or a light to it, I really have not found much use for it. How about you, do you know of any useful/novel applications for such green part? ... Or is this a 'failed' attempt of TLG getting into teaching electronics? My son prefers 'snap-circuits' though.
  15. Anyone knows where I can find building instructions for this set? I know the original was a CD, but I recall seeing a link to a movie that someone 'captured' from the CD.
  16. Ok, thank you very much ... drove me 'nuts' last night.
  17. Every now and then I stumble upon a rare set on eBay that ... I must have. Once it arrives, it must get 'sanitized'. What I do is, disassemble totally, immerse in hot water, and pour a generous amount of dishwasher soap on the parts, then I mix/stir the whole thing few times and let it 'bathe' overnight. The dishwasher soap has a tendency to 'eat-up' the dirt so, in general, no brushing is needed. I've 'read' some people throw the whole thing in a clothes washer ... but with small technic pieces, one needs a fine mesh bag of the sorts. This also applies to assembled sets that have been sitting on a shelf for some time and accumulated few microns of dust as well. What 'technique' do you use ... and have found to work best?
  18. No those were actually new, from I think the fire truck 8454 of the off-roader 8466. They were okay when I installed them, but if you leave them compressed for a while, they break (at least that happened to 2 of mine. I've had the 8448 assembled for 7-8 years now ... and it's still fine. Granted, they're almost fully deployed (roof up), and thus there is little force on the spring/plastic.
  19. Those panels came in handy while building Madoka's SUVs
  20. Agreed, I like 8258 much better, but then again, Les gouts et les couleurs ne se discutent pas. Here is a possible explanation though. I never cared much for the long-nose type trucks here in the US as there are way too many of them on the streets and they look ... 'boring'. Somehow I find MAN/Scania type trucks more 'modern in their looks. I wonder if the 'opinion' is reversed east of the Atlantic. Though, staying with Lego, I do like the 8258 because of all the various functions and parts assortment.
  21. I got few of those and they tend to break easily ... especially where the spring pushes against the cylinder ... In no time, you'd have the spring break through and get inside the chamber. Very weak design from my experience.
  22. That's an interesting idea ... Though, while all Lego parts are patented, the actual Lego models/sets are not ... Correct?
  23. Greetings ...I am trying to bend the RED flex cables but not real successful ... any hint? 8450.lxf
  24. Thanks. I'll remember that for next time
  25. You're right ... I read quickly the first time and must've missed it. I think 8070 is equally good, either displayed or as spares.
