  1. Can you take pictures of cables/connections and post them?
  2. Either Santa or the NutCracker ... I can only guess what the 3rd entry will be .... Rudolf?
  3. Not as bad as a tropical fish store I visited once in Toronto years ago. They had a tank of piranhas and a note that said: Establishment is not responsible for lost fingers ... but that's another hobby ...
  4. Fantastic/unique MOC indeed. You already giving me few ideas for activities during the coming cold weather ... If I recall, the tread links do not 'count'.
  5. I have seen comments such as above few times on EB ... Here in the US, prices are usually fixed, unless there is a sale at ToysRUs ... seems we're missing out on some good deals.
  6. This is often done for torsional Rigidity. Think of this, if you need an axle of length 8L, you can do the following: 1. a single 8L axle 2. 4x 2L axles, and 3 connectors. While the lengths of the two are exactly the same, option #2 is much stiffer in torsion.
  7. I'm not sure I 'agree' with that. I have purchased many items from the Lego Education site 'directly' ... as an end-user. I do not work for any school and my understanding is that Lego sells to whoever has $$$ to spend. Thus, I would not be too concerned to tell the story as it is. Let us know what you find out, either way.
  8. Welcome aboard ... might want to read thread below ... perspectives from various AFOLs http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86194
  9. Thanks ... I was primarily interested in the Technic Theme, but agree, may get more answers here.
  10. It looks like a 4L thin liftarm ... and appears to be cracked.
  11. Not sure about the UK, but in the US, many places can do his ... including OfficeMax and Staples. You just go to their website, upload the PDF, they print it / bind it for you, and you go pay / pick-it up later. Very convenient of course.
  12. Answer should be easy if the boxes had serial numbers on them ... but they don't. We know for sure TLG made 20000 copies of 41999 but, any idea as to how many copies they made of other large Technic (and SW UCS) Sets? Talked to a Lego store employee, and he mentioned not all sets are produced at once ... TLG makes multiple runs throughout the 'life' of a set, based on the amount of orders they receive (makes sense). Does TLG keep track of how many copies they make? If so, can that information be made public?
  13. Neat! You may find part 57702 better suited for the bucket wheel excavator. Make sure you use the WHITE version though, looks much better than the Tr-Blue. In fact, I'm using those for a GBC, based on the same machine.
  14. If the sets you bought were new/sealed and no one tampered (tried to open) the batteries, then I am not sure the 'non authorized source' argument holds. What if I receive a set as a gift (for christmas) and it has a defective battery. I do not have the receipt, does this mean Lego will not replace the defective part? As long as the defective parts are genuine Lego (anf they may ask that you send them back), you should qualify for a free replacement.
  15. While all have valid points, it seems a rather expensive undertaking to develop parts (molds) unique to a set .... The 8448 had at least 4 new parts (wheel, tire, knuckle, rack) that could have been very well used in subsequent sets ... but were not. The cylinders bracket were used only in 8275 and 8421 ... and are in very high demand. I bet those molds still got quite a bit of life left in them and it would be rather easy to make few more runs.
  16. Good to hear. Can you document 'exactly' what you did ... In case someone else runs into the same issue ?
  17. We have seen on multiple occasions parts released in 1-2 sets at most ... What's the logic behind this? What has TLG to gain by not issuing rare parts anymore? The only people who benefit from this are speculators and secondary market ... But TLG has absolutely nothing to gain there. So what do you think, why does TLG issue 'exclusive' sets with unique parts/color ... then not anymore? I'm baffled and can't see any logic behind this.
  18. You painted the LA's ... ???
  19. If you connect the brick to your computer ... does the computer recognize it? If so, go ahead, run NXT-G and do a firmware download, just ignore the sound.
  20. Well ... I do have an 8421 already ... and don't care much for it. Not giving it away though.
  21. Most likely the firmware is corrupted. Remove the batteries, then re-flash.
  22. Or you could get 2 from the 8421 ... Can one "3D print" a discontinued lego part?
  23. The 8466 was the first supercar modeled after an SUV .... Sport Utility Vehicle. I think in Europe those are called 4x4. Nonetheless, the pneumatics are to make it a 'Utilitarian' vehicle ...
  24. It is compatible but has one weakness though. If you spin it one way, it'll do fine, but if you overload it in the opposite direction, the flex-metal will unscrew from the plastis and becomes useless.I'd say it's only 'ok' for moderate/reversible loads.
  25. What would be the total if you bricklink it ?
