The Lego TV Commercial Archive
DrJB replied to Brickadier General's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The ad is nicely done. It reminds me of how successful the Nintendo Wii was, because early on, they focused on a product that should bring family members together. Lego should be a family activity, and that is what that ad is about. Of course, the 'hidden' message is the sooner you get your kids hooked on Lego, the better off it is for TLG. -
Horror Stories - Lego you bought off flea-bay and BL

Usually, if a lot is too good to be true on eBay, I simply stay away from it. I do not think sellers are deceitful on purpose, but some of them simply do not know much about what they're selling. If I see something I like, I check other items by the same seller ... if he's selling old appliances and baseball cards and no other legos, then typically it's 'risky' ... My recent unlucky purchase was a set of technic parts. Got the parts they were dirty so I 'cleaned' them then sorted them and added them to my collection ... Now few of my boxes have a bad smoke smell that somehow resurfaced ... Gotta re-wash a lot more than I bargained for ... -
I use a 3-monitor setup where 2 of the monitors are connected to the video card, and the third to a USB adapter from Hi-S. When I use LDD on the USB monitor the colors are totally messed up and the graphics rather slow. Safe-mode does show the correct colors but the graphics get even more sluggish. I agree wit above post, that you must check your video hardware settings, an update drivers if haven't done so yet.

I'm primarily into lego technic, and 'focus' collect primarily large sets. But not sure this applies as most serious Technic AFOLs do that ...

Technic General Discussion
DrJB replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Not sure I'd call it 'advanced'. It looks like axles often in pick-up/large trucks with solid front/rear axles, attached to the main body with multiple links (4 each). One typical american car that had a similar suspension was the Jeep Grand Cherokee pre-2000. With such solid axle suspension, such axle must be 'located' laterally with a link arm. Essentially, without it, the axle can 'float' side-to-side. The other difficulty with such design is that the shock absorbers must have spherical (not cylindrical) connections to both the chassis and axle. -
Fully agree and I clearly remember the rules stating that for entries to be counted, they must be made in the official/pinned thread ... maybe not everyone noticed.

[REVIEW] 42023 - Construction Crew

Agreed: 1. Excellent Review 2. Very useful set for all the new parts -
Few weeks ago I asked about whether anyone has tried a MOC of the Plymouth Prowler (can't find the thread). Now, I'm thinking possibly a list of MOCs we all would like to see (and maybe build). The few vehicles that come to mind are: 1. Plymouth Prowler - A funky/retro hot-rod car made by Chrysler 2. Dodge Tomahawk - A non-conventional motorbike with 2 dual front/rear tires (4 total) - Made by Chrysler again 3. Citröen 2CV - Iconic French car. Incidentally, I saw one in top shape last week in Chicago ... yes, spoke to the driver, he was very proud of it of course. Let this thread be a list of suggestions/ideas for some unique/iconic MOCs PS. Might be a surprise to some but, Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge/Jeep are all brands of the Chrysler Corporation, which, is now partly owned by Fiat.
