  1. a quick question: are those stud shooters on the Top and bottom of the Imperial Assault Carrier new? Or are they the hand-held version mounted in some way I can't see?
  2. I don't know why I hadn't thought of this before but I completely agree with you on the price point for this set. It's surprising this set is $13 USD when compared to what you get with the $20 Treasure Island set. Also, the closest comparison I can think of is the 2009 set 6239 - Cannon Battle, which was $6 USD. Sure, that set had fewer pieces: 45 in 6239 versus 84 in the new 70409. But the sets are pretty close to the same in many ways (two mini figures, a cannon, a stationary piece that reacts to being shot). Also, if you were to buy two of 6239 you would get 90 pieces, four figures, and two cannons at $12 USD, which is still cheaper than 70409. I understand that it was released 6 years ago, but that's still a big difference in my opinion.
  3. Thanks for the review! The set looks excellent and you point out a lot of things very well. ...and I agree: I like this set much more than 6279 - Skull Island for just $20 USD.
  4. Agreed on all points. I got Sabre Island as a kid along with the Caribbean Clipper as my first pirate sets. I loved (and still do) the soldiers. As far as the flag is concerned: I was going to add the big flag but wanted to be able to render the decoration using LDD to POV-Ray Converter. But only the smaller flag let's you map images on it in LDD. So, I sued that one.
  5. I wanted to take a shot at recreating the old Bluecoats 6265 - Sabre Island but with modernized parts/techniques. So, I started with the new 70410 - Soldiers Outpost as a base and added to it. Left Front: Right Front: Thoughts?
  6. Any thoughts on why a black tricorn isn't being used for any of the soldiers? In the past - the sergeants typically had them and they were even used on most of the sailors for 6274 - Caribbean Clipper. What I recall from the preliminary shots is that either of the pirates that we now know will have brown tricorns were instead wearing brown bowler hats (Pirate Rummy from 70412 - Soldiers Fort and Pirate 4 from 70413 - The Brick Bounty): Preliminary image for 70412 - Soldiers Fort Preliminary image for 70413 - The Brick Bounty Thoughts? Do you think the original tricorn molds are at the end of their lives? Or was The LEGO Group just trying to be more creative by using hair parts instead?
  7. I've created some decoration for the Bluecoat Soldiers as best I can: Front of Torso: Back of Torso: Face of Soldier 1: Face of Soldier 2: Face of Soldier 3: Face of Soldier 4: Face of Sergeant 1: Face of Sergeant 2: The images above are 128x128 but will open as 512x512 if you click on them. These aren't perfect as there are several approximations. Please let me know if this is helpful or not.
  8. Good catch. While I don't have the Death Star set, this would be a must buy for me regardless.
  9. Unless they watch The League (http://m.imdb.com/title/tt2480286/)
  10. Thank goodness. I'm really looking forward to these sets.
  11. I've looked around quite a bit and still have not seen any pictures for Star Wars sets from Nuremberg. Are they not allowing pictures for Star Wars or are they not being presented?
  12. Would you mind expanding on this? From lego.com? Edit: Nevermind. Also, I just heard from the LEGO Store in Austin, TX, USA that they don't expect to see any 2015 Pirate sets until June/July...
  13. It looks like the sets will be available in Japan on February 06, 2015: http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B00NVDLPT8
  14. I am in complete agreement on both points. The new bandana looks good. In fact, I always had a strong dislike for the old one. And the monkey is a classic. I hope they release a new blue coats ship with one included... as well as gold coins.
  15. Yes, it looks like it's available in these sets: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=3069b&in=S&colorID=150&ov=Y
  16. Here's a quick mockup in LDD:
  17. Here is my take on 10246 Detective's Office in Lego Digital Designer (LDD) after looking at the official pictures and designer video, in case anyone is interested: [10246 LXF] There are a few things missing/incomplete, including: No mini figure inclusion. Part 15429 DESIGNING PLATE 1X2X2 (Unikitty tail) does not properly connect to 4070 ANGULAR BRICK 1x1. So, I've excluded 4 of part 4070 from the top roof. Internal structure of water tower is not complete. Does not include scissors part as I believe it is not yet in LDD. I have used the 4150 FLAT TILE 2x2, ROUND in lieu of the new FLAT TILE 2x2 ROUND W KNOB. [EDIT]: I have not yet added the fire escape ladder. ...and obviously, there are several things that will likely be wrong since this was done without instructions. I didn't want to post this in the Official LEGO Sets made in LDD topic as this is no where near a complete/accurate model. Instead, I thought I'd post it here as it might be helpful for some to see a few of the techniques I discovered. My apologies if I should not have done this.
  18. Individuals who have seen the set in-person have said that the windows are printed elements. I think you can also tell this when looking at the box image with the parts list on the top.
  19. Yes, it looks like the reuse that part on the exterior door facing out to the roof. Although, the front door to the pool/billiards hall has a 1x1 round without a hole on the outside from what I can tell.
  20. I smiled the entire time I watched the video. This is a must buy for me as soon as it is available. I really like the level of detail and the playability is a bonus. I think it will look especially nice next to the Pet Shop.
  21. Yes, that's the only connection I can make... But that doesn't seem like a very helpful clue if it's three years in advance. Does that mean that TLG will have a museum in two years because last year's PR had an art studio?
  22. Can anyone share what they think the clue was from the PR for the DO? Isn't there usually something in a previous set that hints toward the next Modular?
  23. One great thing is that the printing on the shako looks to be the same from the 2009 line. Which means, there are plenty of them out there in the world in case you want to Bricklink some extras.
  24. That's really all I want.
