  1. Looks like a couple of these.
  2. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of something next year - I thought we'd never see another "big" 3-in-1 vehicle (600+ pieces) after last year's Roaring Power and Yellow Racers, then I got pleasantly surprised by the Blue Power Jet. Fingers crossed!
  3. I imagine that could fragment the existing userbase, spreading activity so thinly as to have little to no activity on the spin-off boards, and also make things daunting for new members.
  4. I'd like to see a "Civic Open Space" subtheme (yeah that name doesn't exactly roll off the tongue), featuring things like ornamental gardens, meadows, playgrounds and even zoos. This would be great for many reasons: It would complement City layouts dominated by buildings (and maybe reduce "Urban Heat Islands"!) Landscaping in general is something that seems to be under-represented in official sets An Arboretum in an autumn setting would get some hard-to-find plant part colours into builders' hands Minifig kids need to go play outside and stop bothering their Minifig parents!
  5. There are only two three friction ridges on the lower part (compared to 4 at the end) and they're slightly shallower. Hold it up with a light source behind and slowly rotate it to see. It's a strange design decision, and I've yet to see an application which specifically vindicates it. EDIT: While randomly larking about in my huge swimming pool of Technic pegs, I noticed that the blue axle pegs have this too, but don't suffer from the problem you described. Maybe it's due to the more flexy plastic of the newer ones? Dunno, I'm stumped.
  6. I'm eyeballing that arrow at the bottom-right there, and I'm wondering: is that an image edit, or could it be a glorious return to the time when we could lift up the front of the box to perv at the best bits?
  7. It looks like the black half of an unassembled turntable with one of these inside for support. I have two mini turntables - both assembled - and very hard to get apart. So I won't be trying this myself just yet. Gah!
  8. Oh also: depending on how you want to connect the wheel, technic half-bushes might be a better idea, since they are the same diameter as the proper hubs for those tyres, and the axle holes give some decent connectivity options. They'll still be difficult to insert and remove though, because the material those tyres are made from is much harder and less flexible than the stuff we get these days.
  9. Those tyres barely fit onto the hubs they're intended for, and the hubs you want to use are a greater diameter (11mm vs the compatible 8mm). The strength required to make this work would disintegrate the hubs through sheer hulkness.
  10. Eh, I'd hoped that messing about in the registry wouldn't be necessary, since the version number is in preferences.ini, but... ...this explains it. I really thought LEGO's webmonkeys would have sorted it out by now.
  11. This is probably happening because the application data/support folders are still on your main drive. I don't know which OS you're using, so take a look here for the paths to "preferences.ini" and if the path exists, nuke it and try installing again.
  12. To celebrate finally completing my collection of Tiny Turbos canisters, here's a thing from a 2009 LEGO Club magazine extract I stumbled upon. I never thought it was possible to make something more monstrous than the other combination models, but here it is - the Frankenturbo. There's also something similar which I was too embarrassed to post until now - I might as well get it all over with. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8148+8149+8150+8151 - Turbo Truck [Combination Model] - theme: Racers / Tiny Turbos Errors / notes: I nearly called this "EZX Midnight Sport" until remembered that it has a semi-official name. According to the instructions, various stickers for the four donor models would need to be peeled off and re-applied for this. Some of them cover multiple parts - a cruel and inhumane practice that I thought died out in 2007. No stickers, anyway. I've been hoarding this LXF for about a year. The tile has been positioned correctly, but doesn't actually make a connection. Rekkonise dis situation blud an' prepare yoself accordin'ly. The rudders won't fit all the way down on the 3M axles, leaving an unsightly gap. I think the axle is supposed to poke into the cavity of the brick above the axle hole, but the geometry doesn't allow it. The canopies don't fit snugly together - something to do with collision volumes again, maybe. 14. I'm guessing this translates to around 169.99 english dollarz; same as the Volvo wheelthinger. I'd best save up for the Mobile Crane MKII first because that's probably going to disappear soon. Cheers!
  15. SACRIFICES WERE MADE. But just think of their little faces when they have a Dad who is into the same hobby - a hobby which they can presumably now enjoy at a similar level. My Old Man loves old British warplanes, so I thought he'd really like the Sopwith Camel I sent him for his birthday. He told me he hasn't built it because it looks too complicated. You are lucky enough to be in the position to accept all the love your kids give back (especially if it is in the form of LEGO presents :B).
  16. As a wee ankle-biter in the eighties, I swore I saw a Technic backhoe with "JCB" branding, which the little version of me wanted a LOT. However, it was well over £100 and I didn't have the guts to ask my Ma & Da for it. Although I can probably place which model it was, I can't find even a sliver of information to confirm that it was in fact some official JCB collaboration type of thing.
  17. A microbuild, chronicling the relentless march of progress. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4000018 - Production Kladno Campus 2015 - theme: Dunno Errors: Print for part 21971 (Flat tile 1x8, Kladno Campus 2015) not available in LDD - replaced with part 4162 LXF (LDD 4.3.8) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: lawks, this one sure is popular
  18. Whoa look at all these Technic folk in the LDD forum You can always use LDD's "Export model" option in the file menu, then choose to save it as *.LDR. Just make sure you have the latest ldraw.xml in your LDD install folder. And of course the model will most likely need some tidying up afterwards :B
  19. Oh lawd, please bless this hapless fule with a RRP so I know how early to start living on noodles.
  20. Looks like this is me. 'sokay I suppose.
  21. I like it when Twee Affect uses "AHOL". (That blag needs to update more often)
  22. Hah, nice idea of the chick eating the worm / caterpillar!
  23. Ah, that wasn't directed at you specifically, more at the general concern about the model since pictures of it appeared. I'll definitely get it too (I just want some more original play features besides control surfaces, which have appeared in much cheaper sets already). EDIT: And to address the original post, I'm guessing the set will appear around July-August. End of summer seems to be when the second wave of Creator stuff usually appears.
  24. They've been doing that for years already. Fast Flyers (F-15 Eagle) Sonic Boom Super Soarer (Jaguar?) See also the alternate models for these: Propeller Power (Harrier) Propeller Adventures In some cases it would require some interest in military vehicles to say for certain what these are based on. I suspect that the Blue Power Jet is only causing such a fuss because it is both recent and based on a controversial project. The stuff I've listed above is certainly not all of the things that have appeared in the past, and there will surely be more things like this in future, so it's a bit pointless to worry about it setting any sort of precedent.
  25. LEGO should absolutely make a Modern War theme, and it will be loved by everyone and make them loads and loads of money, of which no-one shall begrudge them for having such a great idea all by themselves.
