It is amazing how much photo manipulation (pre-photoshop) they did back then. It looks like they used piles of sand for the green hills, although I cannot work out what they were intending with the trees that they half buried. These look just wrong in the final image.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 21. Rumors and discussion
MAB replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Are they £4 a bag now? I've not actually bought a single one from Series 20 at retail. I've only bought parts on BL. And all my Disney 2, TLM2, Batman 2, and S19 were bought at 50% off or under. If not 50% off, I don't buy them. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
My VIP points are added in a per item / lot basis, sometimes there are many entries for one order, if I order one of this and one of that. Did the parts entry in the order details say shipped, or just the top line? -
Is TLG now definitely phasing out baseplates?
MAB replied to merman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Some people don't like change. Some people still haven't forgiven LEGO over changes in the grey colours. -
An IKEA apartment in an IKEA storage box. How meta is that. However, you do need a white piece to represent the Bygglek in the model.

I agree that scarcity creates demand - but the question is will they be scarce. If everyone holds on to theirs then yes. But if many people decide to dump the old because the new is better then they will not be scarce. -
A philosophical argument - are they even leaks if they are not shared? :-)

If the new road system is adopted by people that used to use the baseplate roads then the market may get flooded if they sell off the old style in favour of the new. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 21. Rumors and discussion
MAB replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I also think the licensed ones played a role too. For many of the licensed sets, the characters are you-only-need-one. Whether you are a series collector, a fan of the theme, or whatever, very few people army build with licensed characters (Although I got about 30 Homers as I wanted the heads, and the body parts were easy to sell as they are good for generic office workers). Unbought series of TLM2, Batman2, Simpsons2, Disney2, ... sitting on shelves indicated that either the demand was not there or production was too high. And because of this, retailers then think that ALL CMFs are bad sellers, not just those ones. The licensed ones are good for the fans of that theme, good for collectors that collect them all anyway, but not so good for general LEGO fans. I started to lose interest about the time the licenses started. Partly getting out of the habit of buying them. Partly as the unlicensed series was coming once every year it did not feel like there was a need to find them all quickly. Partly that they were repeating too much. Partly they were becoming too City. Partly the lack of interesting ones. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 21. Rumors and discussion

Unfortunately, I don't think this will be the case. They haven't managed to put 12 interesting characters in a series of 16 for some time. I cannot see them being able to do it now with just 12 per series. Although I prefer the unlicensed series, I think they are almost at an end now, as there are just too many boring, repeats or unusable characters (at least for me). I no longer collect them all, so having them just to complete a collection is not an issue. -
My view would be don't bother. There are many minifigure scaled vehicle sets every year already. Having a set that delivers one more vehicle (even if it can be one of many) doesn't really add anything.

Did you wash them afterwards too? That is probably even more important. -
Do you think lego will ever realese another space theme
MAB replied to arealhuman's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Is there a need for them to look "Classic" though? For kids of today, I don't think that there is a need as there is next to no nostalgia for old Classic Space. There is no source material that needs to be followed for the shapes, the design principles or the colours, as there is for licenses. If they do a "Classic" Space theme again, it would not surprise me if there are a number of changes to the "rules". The reason I use "Classic" Space and not Classic Space is that I don't think any modern set or theme can ever be called Classic, as in the original Classic. Classic was an era of LEGO and cannot really be repeated. It would not surprise me if any new theme had at least some of the following changes: More colours of suits and obviously not classic smiley heads. More rounded, modern designs compared to the angled, blocky designs of the past (when all the parts were angled and blocky). More colours used for spaceships. And possibly not consistent colours throughout the theme - so maybe something like Galaxy Squad where the ships had different colours depending on the colour of the minifigure(s) that they came with. Transparent clear windscreens, to avoid clashes with different colours used in the ships. Aliens. A faction to fight against. Especially if real space is frequently covered through City, sci-fi space would need to be an action based theme, and so there would be some sort of conflict. Any one of those things is enough to make some Classic Space fans go crazy. Even using light bluish grey instead of light grey or helmet shape is enough to set some off. If they made more rounded spaceships using modern parts in multiple colours with the Classic Space logo, and Classic Space minifigs in multiple colours, I'd buy them. For example, remove the GS logos from this one, replace with the Classic Space logo, and replace the figure with a dark azure CS minifigure (who would be named on the box). Then make another similar one that has magenta accents, with a magenta figure, and so on. I think that would make an interesting theme. It would fit in with modern LEGO styling. Kids would probably like it. Some people would pull their hair out complaining. -
Where is the rumour from? It sounds like clickbait.

There is some great stuff in the flickr link. I love the use of sausages in the arches.

I guess an issue here is whether Universal own/sell rights to the music and albums or also the likenesses of the artists.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 21. Rumors and discussion
MAB replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Smaller investment, yes. But will it be the same earnings? From what I have seen, less stores are taking the CMFs and when they do, they are taking less of them. I wonder if this is LEGO's response to them not selling as well (if that is the case). If they go from 16 to 12, and each collector aims to get one full set (I know, a massive assumption) then they need to increase the number of collectors by 33% to sell the same number. If they aim to sell the same number of CMFs overall per series, but go from 16 to 12, then I imagine even more will be left on the shelves than normal, unless they come up with some really popular army builders (not necessarily soldiers, just ones where people want multiples). -
Should people buy Fake Chinese PF motors?
MAB replied to Newest_Tech320's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think they take a fairly light hand to most discussions like that if the discussion is sensible. For products that enhance LEGO use (sbrick, buwizz, train track, train wheels, minifigure parts like brickforge and brickwarriors, etc ...), normally they are fine. For products that are direct copies of LEGO items, then less tolerant. Maybe for items that are out of production and hard to find genuine replacements, then they will be more tolerant. For current items that are just cheaper if you buy fake, I imagine they are not tolerant. -
They could do it so if you buy any set on lego.com, then they force the U2 one on you whether you want it or not.

MAB replied to arealhuman's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Kids do buy or choose Star Wars and Harry Potter sets. Not LOTR as they are no longer for sale. But even if all the SW and HP sets sold to adults, so what? Classic Space would also only sell to adult nerds, and a much smaller subset of adult nerds than are interested in SW and HP. That is what bringing back Classic Space would be - forcing a 30-40 year old theme on kids that have no interest in now out of date futuristic sets from 30-40 years ago. -

MAB replied to Newest_Tech320's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It is up to you what you want to do with them. If you want fakes as they are cheaper than the real thing, then buy fakes. Nobody else cares too much if you prefer to use fakes rather than buying genuine new or used ones. If you don't mind buying fakes as they are cheaper than the secondary market and LEGO no longer produces them, then I don't really see why you wouldn't also buy fakes of sets that are no longer produced by LEGO and are expensive on the secondary market. For UK, they are showing as temporarily out of stock. I bought a couple about two weeks ago online. What I mean here is that you cannot complain if your post gets removed or shut-down if you break the rules talking about fake versions of genuine LEGO.
