  1. It will be interesting to see which artists are chosen. Ones for adults, or ones for children.
  2. So buy them. Nobody else cares if you want to buy and use fake LEGO, whether it is motors or other parts. You won't be allowed to talk about them here, as this site is for genuine LEGO only.
  3. Nobody has said that. Just know what it is that you are buying.
  4. I don't think they are. Their core business is selling plastic building toys and they seem to be doing it very well.
  5. If you read the post, they are mock-ups on BL's part designer.
  6. I've used cheap (as in $1 each) for things like simple robot cars for kids coding clubs where two back wheels are powered by one motor each. If run over 10m or so you can really tell if they are not equal, since the car veers. It is not that big a deal, since you can just reduce the max voltage to the more powerful one until balanced.
  7. If those parts do turn out the be correct, I wonder why they didn't go for an 8x8 module (only). It would have similar functionality and strength and without the need for the holes for the middle tile sections to remove them.
  8. The submitter does not own the copyright to theme of their idea. So long as they are not 1:1 copies, then they should be allowed. Otherwise it is a race to submit something to stop others submitting the same theme, rather than working on a better design.
  9. You are almost certainly wrong, as given the number of licensed sets / themes they sell, then they would almost certainly be in poor financial shape now if they lost money on licensed sets.
  10. It's a nice colour, but too dark to fill that missing spot. Light nougat might work quite well though - and have the secondary benefit that the bricks/parts could also be used to make fleshie brick-built characters instead of using tan.
  11. A clever move by LEGO to shift road baseplates at full price.
  12. It is not so much the safety that is the issue but performance. Especially if you require two motors that are supposedly equal.
  13. That is because they copied the one from Stonewars.
  14. This looks great. Although I am not a fan of the square edges in the upper lime section. The edges on the L shaped lime section are much more organic looking.
  15. It is not just that. They also get up to $500 worth of LEGO sets. Do they really help though? Licensing may mean we will never (at least short term) do that, or that the IP holder didn't like the idea but would support something else. Presumably if there is a good business case but low budget, they can always pass it to another period. Telling people that there is an existing product in development will give out the message that LEGO is producing something similar, and possibly spoil the release of that. Giving a wishy-washy reason would probably cause even more speculation.
  16. I cannot see anything wrong with the colours in the Bookshop or the Corner Garage. For Downtown Diner, I cannot really see the sign being anything but bright pink - to me, it's neon and meant to be garish. Diagon Alley, the one I don't like is the Weasley's shop as it is rather bright. But then isn't that the point of it, so again a decent fit? I think there is a red/pink family colour missing though, a somewhat dirty/drab/beige pink or light red, something similar to the old sand red. I don't think it would fit in Friends, and would be ideal for pink sandstone.
  17. I doubt LEGO would ever do this. I cannot see them publicly commenting on another brand that they have not relationship with not being the right fit for LEGO's values. They have evolved. Many people in the past would have never believed they would do The Simpsons, or Stranger Things. Imagine if they had said no tho these because of the brand image, then a few years later changed their minds. Similarly, if another IP turned LEGO down, it would be embarrassing for them to have to admit this. Or if another IP said yes, but LEGO thought the licensing costs were too high, they would probably not be allowed to disclose that.
  18. The whole Hidden Side theme is due for retirement. That doesn't mean that they will all disappear from shelves at the same time though, especially in independent shops.
  19. The paint will almost certainly scratch if it goes near ball joints. A big problem is that sort of spray paint is quite thick, especially if using two or more coats, significantly thicker than typical tolerance levels between parts.
  20. Full scale piracy. They don't pay license costs for STAR PLAN or STAR WNRS sets or Justice Magician sets.
  21. I wouldn't mind black in addition to white. For further colour and decoration, well that is why the studs are there, to decorate with plates.
  22. I don't get it. The box says series 21 but isn't Looney Tunes meant to be the January release now? Presumably it is just a pic for a retail catalogue too, as there are no characters on the box. So either just a placeholder or a change in the way they market them, not showing what characters might be inside.
  23. You might get close for metallic type colours, but matching base colours will be very difficult. What sort of spraying are you doing? From a cannister or using an airbrush? You will almost certainly have to blend pains to get a decent match. I've airbrushed vallejo acrylic paints onto minifigure parts before. The results are ok but the paint tends to be a bit fragile but not too bad for minifigure parts (where pieces tend not to butt up against others). For bricks, forget it. It scratches off too easily when scraped against another one during building.
  24. Sums up my opinions too. A small Architecture style one, I'm in. A large object more in scale with something you'd see in a museum, no chance. I'll look at it in store then that will be enough for me. :-) The similarities are amazing.
