  1. Thanks mate! I've always wanted to try out that balcony thing on a ship, and figured this would be a good place to do it - plus I didn't have too many more yellow slopes either, so... Thanks, glad you like it! Thanks Khorne! - and you've got it (the Mutiny on the Bounty) I did swap out the ship's boat for a raft, though, as I've built a lot of boats recently and no rafts hardly at all! I'm happy to hear that the water really worked well too!
  2. Really liking the lighting and atmosphere here, Bregir, awesome little scene! The light bouncing off the water and the shadow of the oars add a lot to the shot!
  3. Nice little build, those soldiers of yours are really awesome! The addition of the chickens and cat spice up the scene nicely as well, and I'm liking the addition of those poles sticking out the side. Good job capturing the Guelph feel!
  4. Thanks Capt! I was actually originally planning on covering all of the blue with trans-clear, but I ran out, so I decided to spread it out a bit more and really liked how it turned out! Yep, a judicious (or utterly random ) placement of a bunch of trans-clear parts can really work well for water like this! Thanks Kai, there's a door or something on the other side, no doubt! Don't ask me how they actually got on those things! Thanks, glad you like 'em! I particularly liked that one here that I took a heap of pictures of (obviously ) - those upside-down curved slopes are just too cool! Glad you're enjoying the story, mate - and the builds as well! I hope not to keep you waiting for too long! Thank you! Seems like that telescope idea was a hit! It definitely was a bit of a pain to take pictures holding it in one hand and the camera in the other, though! Thanks a lot, Titus, really glad you like it! I definitely wanted to spice up the micro-scale ship scene a bit, and figured that'd probably be a good way to do it! Thanks! I mean too!
  5. Another build for that storyline from me! End of the White Doubloon
  6. Previous chapters: Captain Whiffo's Duel... Sailor Leon's Letter... "Well!" Captain Whiffo went on, "while that oaf was busy getting himself in trouble over in Elysabethtown, I was out a bit more... reasonably occupied..." -=- -=- -=- January, 617, at sea near Elysabethtown "Sail ho!" sang out the sailor in the crow's nest one early morning. Captain Whiffo leaned out over the railing of the White Doubloon and pulled out his telescope. Eslandola had now been at war with Mardier for a few months over some unwarrented predatory attacks on Eslandolan shipping, and the captain was out with his shiny new ship (well, new to him at least - it had belonged to a sea rat before that...) and a Letter of Marque, and he was very much up and ready for the fight. He brought the telescope into focus, and scanned the horizon. "Aha, we've caught sight of those villains at last! Prepare the cannons!" "Er, captain?" queried the first mate; "looks like the Mardierian battle fleet, don't it now?" Captain Whiffo continued gazing through his telescope. "Mmm, that's what I said, wasn't it?" "But sir," added the stuttering mate, "you do know we're just in a tiny Class 2, don't you? Looks to me like that there flagship's got to be a 6 at least, and a couple of 5s with it too." Captain Whiffo put down his telescope and looked over at the mate. "Why, my fellow, we'll just go for the flagship, then! There's nothing like loosing your flagship to a Class 2 to strike terror into a battle fleet! All sail, and set course to intercept them!" ... ... ... "Yarr, you piratical scoundrels! Theives! Villains! You'll pay for this, you will! A pretty lot you Mardierians are, to steal a ship like that! I'll be even with you yet!" Captain Whiffo ejaculated from the little raft he and his little crew had been tossed onto. As it turned out, he had never even made it to the flagship - the second largest ship of the fleet had cut him off before he had come within firing distance with it, and there really wasn't a whole lot the White Doubloon could do against a ship three times its size anyways, to tell the truth. Captain Whiffo's eyes narrowed as he glared at the Mardierian Admiral - the Admiral smirking back in mocking triumph all the while. Whiffo's first mate moaned out loud. The Captain glared. The Admiral glared back, neither moving a muscle as the ship slowly slid farther and farther away, leaving the raft astern. The skull and crossbones- -=- -=- -=- "Captain-" interrupted the first mate, who was listening to the Captain's tale with the others in the inn, with a sigh - "there were no skull and crossbones." "Well, there may as well as have been!" returned the Captain. "If the Mardierian shan't show their true piratical colours it only makes them more the villains for it!" "Well then, no skull and crossbones. But as I was saying, I glared at that scrupulous villain until my eyes nearly popped out o' my sockets, while we were slowly left farther and farther behind..." -=- -=- -=- A few minutes more, and the raft rolled along alone on the bosom of the great blue sea... To be continued... The next installment of that duel collab with Titus which has been in the works for way too long! This was an MRCA result build I always wanted to do (ever since last January ) but never got around to until now. A couple more pictures of the microships (some of the designs stolen pretty ruthlessly from some of KB's great designs!): And a shot of the whole other build, for the curious (no, the sky definitely was not photoshopped ): Kudos to anyone who can guess what famous event/picture the second build here was (roughly) inspired by! Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!
  7. Yes! A very much needed establishment in Mesabi's landing, I'm afraid! A bit simple, but it works for a nice straightforward little build
  8. Excellent build, the dark red looks wonderful, and I'm loving those stripes of dark grey ball connectors as well! I second Professor Thaum on the apparent spiderwebs being a great point on realism too! The minifigure activity and SNOTted dock are really well done, but I wouldn't want to be a Olean smuggler just now!
  9. Wow that cranehouse/masting sheer! That crane is very impressive (no chance it actually works too? ), and the ship is still excellent as well! I quite like the photography here for the most part too - especially the bluish tint in the first picture, intentional or not!
  10. Great! - I was hoping to see this in the brick! The tension heightens! Really nice little cell there, Ayrlego, and those figs are great as well!
  11. Clever! I'm liking this - and it actually working is very impressive as well! Great addition to the railway, and the adjustments you made to that chair design work really well too!
  12. Nice little build, Kwatchi, and I'll second blackdeath about that table! I quite like the lantern at an angle too - gives the impression of it being swayed by the wind/draught I'm interested in seeing where this Sea Rat company thing is going - strikes me as though it's the few actual pirates among the Sea Rats that could use some company
  13. Nicely done, Faladrin, a neat, trim vessel you've got there! I think I'm going to have to try to include a tumblehome on my next vessel as well! And, of course, kudos for that rigging!
  14. Neat vig, mrcp6d! Love those rafters and the window, and the underground layers are a nice addition as well!
  15. Thanks Captain! And no need to wait any longer - next part here! (Well, actually, I suppose, you still have to wait for the part after that, and the part after that, and the part after that... )
  16. Great story, wasn't expecting Uncle to show up there! I have a feeling that'll be somewhat tough to explain back to Elysabeth though... As I've told you already, that inn is really great (I like the name, too ), the Tudor work and darkbrown are fantastic, and the stonework and layout are excellent as well! Your snotted rockwork is splendid as always too, and the minifigure activity is well done! If I had one particular critique it'd be to maybe try to include some tiles/slopes/cheese in the landscape (the green and dark tan, I mean), and I do agree with Elostirion that it does really have a Avalonian feel to it Needs a banana or something exotic like that! So glad you were able to get this built, though! I hope to have more of the story up soon!
  17. A likely excuse! Captain Bowditch maintains that he reserves the right to interpret the action as he pleases He's not one to pass up on a great adventure if he can help it!
  18. Nice work folks, and good job with the write-up, Capt Wolf! And if it's at all useful to know, I find the organization in the last spoiler to be the most handy (from a player perspective, at least - I wouldn't be too surprised if one of the others might be handy for a faction/TC leader with more responsibilities) On the topic of this month's MRCA: What's this? Those ungrateful Carnosians! (or whatever you call them Carnies? ) We almost won a court case for them and they repay us by firing on passing traders flying friendly colours? Captain Bowditch feels quite inclined to embark on a private war against the villains... (along with Captain Whiffo, of course... where can we get letters of Marque against them, I wonder; there's sure to be somebody at war with such rascals) ...if I can get the time for all the builds for a few ADMRCA rounds... So much to build, so little time! I don't know how you people with more ships than me can possibly stay sane
  19. Thanks mate! The hands for thatched has been used by a bunch of people before, but I tend to think that it really works better at this than at minifigure scale. Glad you like it all! Thanks Capt Wolf (and thanks for prompting me to finally use that licence! ) I couldn't pass up the chance to use those 3x2 green slopes which have been sitting around for quite some time, and I had that fence design down as something I'd have to use since the first time I saw it (on this build, by the way - not so very long ago, )! Alright, well, it should be a large town now than, anyways! Thanks Professor! Thanks mate! And yes, I agree with you - the fact is, I built the whole terrain, and then built the house on top, and discovered that everything else had just gotten way smaller I think the path could have benefited from being a bit wider as well, but couldn't bring myself to tear the whole thing up again Thanks Kai!
  20. A blacksmith's shop for Puerto Desafio! Also, I'm finally claiming that micro-licence I won so long ago... Licenced as a small artisan.
  21. And... I know you all thought there weren't any more of these, but... Probably the last micro build prize from Challenge V from an Eslandolan! (Don't take my word for it necessarily, though, I could be wrong ) Every village growing into a town (or into a large town) needs a place to get its horseshoes fixed and its tools and weapons mended! Drop in at the blacksmith's shop outside Puerto Desafio to have all you metallic needs attended to in fashion! Commissioned by Captain Whiffo, who obviously noticed the lack of a blacksmith shop and saw the opportunities - not to say, saw the DB signs... The backside: One last shot: Hey all! Just a little micro-vig from me showing off my light grey texture collection! (Ok, I do have a wee bit more...) I'll be licencing this as a small artisan for Puerto Desafio, which should hopefully boost the settlement up to large town status. Credit for that awesome fence design goes entirely to Full Plate! Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome as always!
  22. To the first question - yes, they will stack up for the extent to which the ranges coincide Consider the case where two settlements with medium fortresses are 45 miles apart; both settlements will receive the protection of both fortresses, but the blacksmith shop 10 miles on the far side of the second village will be protected only by the fortress under whose range it falls. As to the other, the only meaning of any in-game monopoly is that the builder who has the monopoly will benefit from a greater income when building that kind of thing than another person would. More specifically - yes, you can build as many apple plantations as you'd like! But if you build an apple plantation and a Maestro builder builds one too, they will make one and a half amount the DBs each month for it that you do (you will make the same amount as you would for any other plantation).
  23. Nice! This should be a good way to get some great Eslandolan propaganda in there! more interactive storylines going! (In fact, I've even gone ahead and used this before, I think, for that purpose ). I don't think I have anything particular at the moment, but I'll definitely keep it in mind for the future! ...
  24. Great use of those prefab corner-tower pieces there, Capt Wolf - I must admit, I didn't even notice them for the first couple of looks! Another excellent lighthouse in BoBS here, and the newly-built Eslandolan part looks quite good with the older structure below I'm especially liking the sloping pattern there at the transition! The water is quite nice as well, and great to see another build for Puerto Desafio! Which reminds me - I should really get around to that micro-build I won sometime soon!
