  1. Thanks all:) @SilentWolf Well, it is very close-hauled:) But as it is one of the benefits of such rig, I wanted to have the wind from that direction.
  2. @LM71Blackbird Nice Xebec:) I agree with Bodi. You might want to try adding a curve to the white stripe as well, with some more black at bow and stern. The square masts are no problem at all, I just hope for their stability though.
  3. Thanks for the comments and the approval! You are right about the courtyard, a well would have been an excellent addition. This one is for the first task "Redcoats Rule!". I wrote it in the last sentence, maybe it would be better to always put it up first.
  4. @Mesabi Thanks for the advice and the clarification on the rules. First I wanted to just build a Sea Rat build, simply because they fitted the idea best. Then it was mentioned they would look like WTC marines and I felt this could fit the storyline even better. In both cases I didn't want to involve the official WTC and its reputation, more like either some renegades or as suggested, stolen uniforms. Every story would have involved internal handling of the matters and led to retribution (thus no worries).
  5. Oh wow, now that you say it I remember that at my grandparent's house there was a wooden toy fort with towers just like this:D Good old days:)
  6. Thanks! Oh, no worries;)
  7. First thing I did was to create a map with all the flags I could find as a background layer. You can use this for your own designs, if you want. Just PM me for the transparent version, flickr adds the white background automatically.
  8. Well, I'm going for a Cat B then.
  9. I just licensed the Juniper's Inn as a medium artisan.
  10. That is a very nice and clean build with a lot of texture on nearly every part of the walls, but still not overcharged. I especially like the treadle lathe and the grinder.
  11. Also thanks in advance!
  12. Spot on:) Yes, I already have a rough outline of my own continuation, but feel free to use this as a starting point if you want. For now I didn't want to put it in a specific settlement, but we will definitely learn more about the place one way or another.
  13. Thanks! @Professor ThaumHere you go. It is a heron. While I used a broken Lego piece, it is possible to easily replace it with intact parts.
  14. It was a normal day somewhere in a Corrish colony. All seemed quiet and the patrols couldn't notice anything suspicious on duty. If only they had taken a look through the cellar windows, maybe something would have appeared to be strange. Beneath the ground the criminal forces have created a network of tunnels, even through the rivers. A dangerous undertaking that was solely profit driven. Who can say how many of these tunnels exist throughout the new world?
  15. Me neither. I found a few terms that seem to fit, like: mizzen boom, (mizzen sail) boomkin, beam(?)
  16. @LM71Blackbird, @Bregir, @Professor Thaum and @Ross Fisher Thanks all! Two dedicated (long) evenings. I'm pretty fast at times, no comparison to when I started. Everything runs smoother and better planned by now. Thanks, it was an emergency solution I had to try out. I didn't have any hinges in yellow, black or grey left. I also was impressed, but mainly surprised by how it turned out. You are right though about the top. Only tiles wouldn't have worked because of the curve, I either would had to use round tiles at the bending points or use 3x1 tiles on how it is like now. Both options weren't available as I have none of the round ones and the last 3x1 tiles are already used for this ship. I was hoping to achieve some sort of cover by the railing, which also turned out better than imagined. The masts stand on their own, even tilted (the inclination is fixed). But I can't lift the ship by holding on to them. This has more to do so with the bottom part of the masts. I don't trust them:) Strong enough to hold the entire vessel sideways though. You are right about the twine, the "Irish pennants" (thanks for teaching me a new word) are a bit extreme. I always was using this to get some rough effects, but on some ships that bothered me as well. On the Lipizzana's shrouds for example (looks horrible). The white rope is especially made for model rigging and I'm quite pleased with the "knotting properties". For the future I will look if it is available in another colour. For the sails I used an old cotton napkin. Still have one green and two blue ones left for that use:) @Bregir and @Professor Thaum I used the Grayhound as main inspiration. Without stumbling across pictures of her I wouldn't even had started with this ship. The plan to do so already exists for quite a while though, but I didn't think I would manage to build another hull fitting her. It was either full dark grey but no inverted slopes or brown/dark grey but no brown tiles to cover the dark grey areas. I looked at some other vessels and was impressed how well they do without covering it. So I started:)
  17. While this actually is not in Stormhaven, it is under its jurisdiction, so I thought I post it here: Fortification on Serentia
  18. The Farrensman shipyards have been busy again: Also I made an entry for the fort I posted above:
  19. To investigate the rumours of vast mineral deposits within Serentia the Army of Corrington has launched an initiative to assure lasting dominance above the Middle Peaks. Having Stormhaven already established as a trading point and also as a guarantor of controlling the Marion River, the first step is to prevent other factions from reaching the territory from the east via the Far River. Thus at the foot of the mountains where the river springs from, a small fortification was raised, providing shelter for the pioneers. Important tasks are: - geological expeditions - expand infrastructure and trade along the Marion River - expand jurisdiction of Stormhaven - establish a permanently manned and armed base in the middle of the peaks - gain full control over the Far River The pioneers were lucky to find a place with solid ground for their construction. The Corrish Army appreciates the service of Myzec Scouts in their ranks, especially in territory with such difference from mainland Corrington. This is my first entry fo the Glory for Corrington task "Redcoats Rule!"
  20. At the Farrensman Shipyards another ship has been launched. A class 3 trading vessel, lugger rigged, fit for turbulent seas and long voyages. A gift to the crown's merchant fleet. Her rig is easliy manageable even for a small crew. So far she has no noteworthy armament, besides of course a Corrish crew. It will be best to make her join a convoy and recruit some sea soldiers. R M G C $ H 4 5 0 0 5 1 This is just a stat recommendation, change what you think fits her better. This is the first entry for the Glory of Corrington task "The Merchant Marine" and the one that goes to the crown. Jorin Farrensman and the Plucky Manatee's first skipper Rascal "Eagle Eye" inspecting the new ship and checking the cargo. Rascal was a smuggler in the past, whose nondescript face made him perfect for this life. However, he was longing for a more regulated life and managed to regain trust by the authorities. His nautical experience and trade skills as well as his criminological knowledge make the ship a desirable one to sign on. Crew members and dock workers stow the freight in the huge cargo load, which inspired the name. And off she is on her maiden voyage! Some additional cargo was lashed onto the deck. As always excuse me for the bad lighting and background.
  21. This turned out beautiful! As neonic said, the furled sails are very clever and look really cool. Congratulations on being the first(?) to complete the Oaken Shield task!
  22. I was thinking about a good name for my upcoming merchant lugger and came up with "Cloudchaser". Now I searched for it and after seeing the results I'm not that sure anymore:D @the religion matter: I can't help but spell Port Raleigh "R'lyeh". Who knows what crazy cultists may lurk in the shadow.
  23. Thought the Royal Navy distinguished post-ships from frigates, though they were often reffered as such. Thanks for the informations on the spritsail! Gave me new opportunities. Don't think the video is a fitting response to my statement though, think we might had another misunderstanding:D
  24. This is a great build with some really scenic shots!
