[OL - FB] L'Aurelié, the start of a new voyage.

Beautiful ship! I really like that we got some more close up shots of deck details along the story! -

Nice ostriches! -
Jorin Farrensman: They used to call me Oaken Leg. Now finally I can claim the title of Oaken Shield. That is off course, if the admiralty is fine with two entries using a square rig, that being the HMS Ymir and the HMS Argonaut. Edit: Oh, just checked and the different rig types only apply to the Merchant Marine.

Great ship!

Now I'm out of projects. Don't know, if that is a good or bad thing in the current situation. There are at least two ships I want to build within the next decade or so, but right now I don't see enough reason to go for them. Maybe a fun build here or there. Probably sorting, cleaning and selling some parts. Hope to see a lot of ships here meanwhile. P.S.: Ah, I forgot about the little fishing boat I started So maybe you will see another ship this year... -
This is a great ship, but I especially love that big round tower.

Yes, that might be a good solution. I would have hesitated more, but as it only is for the decorations and the golden elements tend to have a lot of deviations in colour anyways, I think this is the way to go. I already glued some pieces together or cut some in half, though always hidden by the finished result. -

A lovely story. One of the few situations less Lego is acceptable. -

I will probably finish the Argonaut close to the end of January. I have to order more bricks to complete the missing yards, studding sail booms, guns and the rudder. Within the next days I will prepare the missing square sails, though course sail on the main mast will most likely be completely furled up. I really can't tell why I insist to add reef lines, if nobody will see them anyways. Again a few things bother me with her, but overall I'm happy and learned a lot for future ships. Currently the yards seem to be too much of equal length, but adding the studding sail booms could fix that. We'll see. @KotZ Bregir has a good point there. As you can see, I don't use a prefab bow on my frigate. The old ones were just one piece, so you either had to raise the level of brown bricks in the middle like shown in Captain Green Hair's tutorial or live with it. I removed it and tried to brickbuild the bow, which resulted in a lot of gaps. While this one is quite sleek, plain but elegant, without unnecessary decorations, I want to go for a more decorated stern next. I have two ships already planned out in my head. One will be the HMS Leopard. It is just too expensive, so I will have to wait. Maybe then the required parts will exist in the desired colours. Until then I can think about how to improve the stern, working on the scale of the figurines. -
Such an elegant solution to do the headrails! Well done.

Good luck! Very close to the method I am using: -
I love this build. Very nostalgic. You really catched the spirit of the old Lego Pirate series and enhanced it. The ropes add much to the overall appearance.

Reading the title I thought you would complain about the decrease in printing quality on Captain Redbeard's face over time.

Congratulations on such a fine start in ship building. I'm really looking forward to what else you can pull off! Great hull technique that I haven't seen so far.

[GoC] Class 4 Xebec - Dirty Rat
Wellesley replied to TomSkippy's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This one is really beautiful. The main mast could be taller, the shrouds can stay as they are, I think. I'm not very familiar with Xebecs, so I leave it with that. Kurigan already explained everything well already anyways.- 15 replies

@evancelt Yes, they are. It is a technique I saw at @kurigan's 'Nuisance'. Originally it seems to stem from @SlyOwl.
