  1. Maybe add an "other" entry in each poll and ask for a constructive proposition of name or color, with arguments for the name and maybe mock-ups for the colors. And I think "Colonial Guard" is a bad idea, as at least in France colonialism leads to slave trade and independance conflicts...
  2. *interresting* features might get to the ears of the developpers When I want to change the decoration on a torso, it's very difficult to see the decorations in the selection box... it would be nice to be able to adjust a zoom level off the selection box.
  3. To differentiate orange torso from the red torso, maybe we could use a different color for the arms, like dark red
  4. Orange looks really good.
  5. I'm better at making comments than making MOCs
  6. I'm a Rebel... And I don't find that MOC so impressive...
  7. Thanks BEAVeR! We should build a library (if it didn't already exists) of the Star Wars decals that aren't in LDD... Like the Rebel troopers torso...
  8. Set Name: (I have difficulties to find a good city name that doesn't really exists and don't sound like spanish or dutch) Category: 8 Faction: The Merchants Description: Home of the merchants, with a dock and stores, and a guard's patrol. Main Elements / Play Features: A dock, 3-4 merchant store/house, a small sized boat Minifigures: 3 merchants, 1 merchant's wife, 1 child, 2 guards Accessories: goods to be loaded on the boat, various town life accessories This could be the main set for the merchant, and it could be joined to a guard's fort set. It represents the town's everyday life, with dock activities. As an example I'll take Kabel's Thorshaven:
  9. I'm not fond of "Haven guards", I understand why you proposed this name, but I don't find it attractive... I'd suggest something more like "Royal guards" or "Royal fleet" since they should be keeping safe their country's merchants. I think the smuggler term will not be so appealing to the young ones as pirate would be. As an adult I understand the difference between the two, and their place in history, but how should/could we explain that to 7 year old children? And if they are not pirates, should they have parrots and wooden legs? And if they have, what could differentiate them against pirates? I know I raised more questions than answers... Regarding the merchants, as every Lego faction produced, they should not be tied to a specific existing nation. So they shouldn't wear any historical colors, emblem or name. They should have ships and land building. A harbor town (that could connect to a guards fort set) might be their bigger set, while a merchant ship could be a medium sized set. What could they buy/sell to be attractive to smugglers and to need protection?... Gold is the easy answer, but there could be other valuable goods, like exotic woods or spice.
  10. LDD has the rebel pilot print for the torso and head. Maybe it wasn't on the model used or virtualrepublic method doesn't render printings for now. If you ever want to test some big models, I have this baby: Zenith escort cruiser by BobDeQuatre, on Flickr And I have both LDD renders and real pictures to compare to your render LDD file here
  11. You shouldn't spoil the movie! But I've seen it yesterday, so no problem for me I think you can reduce the head size, and beef up the rear legs. And look at the abdomen of the chibi, there's another spoiler...
  12. You need to have 10 posts to use the messenger... Just post some constructive comments on some of the contest's entries
  13. That's the only workaround I found... So I stopped working on my current project
  14. I'll need to change my way of sorting bricks since I'm getting more of them. I've collected lots of boxes like this one: : Since the boxes will be stacked, I need to find labels to show what is inside each box.
  15. I had to recount 4 times, checking for invalid votes and such... But the results are up [here].
  16. Really awesome MOCs! My only advice would be on the tiles on the walls. I think they stand out a little too much... Oh and why are all those romans bare-assed??
  17. Being in the Sci-Fi staff and SoNE staff, I know something like GoH or SoNE require a lot of implication from the staff and from the member participating. I don't think the Sci-Fi forum has all of that at the moment.
  18. Sorry for the delay, but there are issues we need to solve before posting the results
  19. Hi all Sci-Fi lovers, I'd like to thank every participant. To be honest, I feared only a few of you would take part in the contest... and I was wrong And now the results... 20. Don't think I'll participate in this one... I still have a big LDD project and a smaller real-brick project to finish... And we have to let the Imps win someday... or not?
  21. Congratulations Markus, well deserved! You know how I love that Death Star diorama But aren't we congratulating you too much nowadays?
  22. Voting is closed! And winners will be announced when I have the time to compile all the votes
