  1. Nice work on all of your locomotives. Your little shunter gives me a lot of inspiration for my little HK Porter yard train I want to make for my layout.
  2. I have done my fair share of ABS dust making in my trains, but this is fascinating. Would the addition of some lubricant have prevented this?
  3. In America, for the price of 2 8878's, you can purchase 12 AAA eneloop batteries plus a wonderful Maha charger that has settings to fast charge, trickle charge and condition those batteries for a very long life. Throw in 6 more Eneloop AAA batteries and you will never have to stop your train to wait for batteries to charge again. My ghost train/space train at Philly BrickFest never stopped running during show hours except for the time it took to swap battery packs. Plus, the triple A batteries are a great size to power your other devices like flashlights and TV remotes so the investment in the hardware will save money down the road. Win/Win/Win.
  4. My HE has both motors in the same locomotive and it is dangerously fast in sharp turns. Very nice work on using the jacobs bogies. It makes for a very nice looking train.
  5. Nice work. The essence of the classic space monorail is well represented in your locomotive. Not only could you pull some spacey styled coaches, you could also creat some mine cars or something to pull freight.
  6. Are you talking about something like the Erie P-1 "Triplex"??? This model is by Nate Brill and debuted in January 2015 in York, PA
  7. Very true. Light weight trains and wheel sets with the least friction are the best friend of runtime for any battery box. And for the record, I can not build trains that are light weight or have reduced friction wheel sets. Look at my last 53 stud long behemoth.
  8. Well, they did say this was "Irish Rail." Only folks across the pond or soulless gingers in America that were habitually laughed at by their British co-workers are going to get that joke.
  9. Amazing work. And I agree the HHP-8 is a great build. And this version of the TGV feels more true to the original than that created by Lego for the HE. Thanks for sharing.
  10. I am afraid that part is beyond repair. The members of my LUG would have to donate that part to the Lego "Junkyard" on our layout which is a collection of all the pieces that we have broken over the years.
  11. In addition to less run time on the AAA battery packs, you also may experience a bit of performance degradation as well when compared to that of the AA battery packs. For trains, which are typically meant to be "slow" compared to race car models built by the technic builders, this is not typically an issue. And personally, any gains in performance on the AA battery box is quickly offset by the weight of 6 AA batteries when compared to the weight of 6 AA batteries. But that is my opinion and YMMV.
  12. Nice work! I love the 60008 museum and have been trying to think out a few ideas on how to build a MOC using those decals from this set.
  13. The Azure and pearl gold really look nice. Great work. [Thinking....Maybe the next phase of NeoClassic space should have some pearl gold trim.] [/sidetrack]
  14. Very nice use of the vintage Lego look with that train! Great work!
  15. Yep, as well as it is not advised to hump this load either: Although the Vogtle AP1000 nuclear reactor was so heavy that it broke the train that was carrying it.
  16. The 60052 window definitely changes the look of the Blue Bonnet. Good work!
  17. Very nice update. Keep up the great work.
  18. Very nice, clean build. I like the use of the old style windows for the cab.
  19. Imagine the fun that could be had when rail cars with thermite filled rocket segments slam into one another in a rail yard.
  20. Nice work on the External fuel tank car, the 12V wheel are very nice for this model. In reality, the rocket booster cars are much to look at. Interesting little nugget is that the diameter of the Space Shuttle solid rocket booster was partially determined by the width of a railroad tunnel that the segments had to pass through on their way to the Kennedy Space Center/Cape Canaveral, FL. And I still have to make my way to KSC to visit the only retired shuttle on display that I have not seen, Atlantis.
  21. That is not good. Lock down your wallet immediately. Lego trains are worse than any pharmaceutical that I know. Best of luck and enjoy your build.
  22. I don't think that it matters which forum you post, but if you need help related to train specific questions, those answer will be in this group due to the level of train expertise in this forum. If you are building a "fast" train, the first word of advice is to watch the weight of your build. I tried on more than one occasion to make my heavy, very detailed trains fast and have found many failure points along the way ranging from issues with motors to couplers pulling apart. Even once, I pulled a car into several pieces when I cranked up the speed, but I blame that on the poor quality tables my layout was arranged. Best of luck and feel free to bring your train issues here.
  23. Wow! It does have a shape similar to the MP36H. That was never on the list of trains that I picked for inspiring a portion of this locomotive. And thanks, it took a tremendous amount of research to find elements on real trains to add to this locomotive.
  24. Absolutely amazing details. Great work!
  25. Very Nice work with lots of detail. Great Job!
