[MOC] Hayao Miyazaki and his Nibariki (Citroën 2CV)
SirBlake replied to Norton74's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This is really nice. The decision to go with brown for the railing and other detail was a good one. Just so it wasn’t totally grey. -
Good write up on these here: https://jaysbrickblog.com/reviews/review-lego-build-a-minifigure-bam-exclusives-q2-2022/ Looks like the knight and wizard are the only new torsos. The western torsos are recycled Star Wars.

Have we had sightings of the new figs in Lego stores in the US? Anybody in Texas? As a follow up, I called the Dallas Lego Store and they said they don’t have the new BaM figs yet.

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
SirBlake replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Well, we’re certainly not going to find common ground there. Since the old sets, pieces and minifigs are readily available, I’m in it for new designs, techniques and prints. It wouldn’t take much to build 6080 on your own. The base plates would probably be the only somewhat expensive part.- 2,976 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
SirBlake replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
For those of us who have most of the classic castles already, that would be a horrible outcome. It would also be extremely lazy on the part of TLG.- 2,976 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
SirBlake replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Those are fair points that I don't have a great argument against beyond the fact that as far as I know, there is no precedence for TLG leaking their own stuff in this way. On top of that, I'm resistant to the idea because it would lend more credence to the assertion that the castle is being shown off in advance as well. Based on what we saw in that BTTF video, I would be EXTREMELY disappointed if that mishmash of old castle elements was what we were getting in August.- 2,976 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
SirBlake replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I personally do not assume that. I’m on record for my opinion that little-to-nothing in that video is indicative of anything we’ll actually see in plastic. Not that I’m against that idea, especially with the featured figs (more peasant/civilian figs would be greatly appreciated), I just don’t trust “blink and you’ll miss it” appearances in an unrelated context.- 2,976 replies

Well that’s interesting. I wonder if he’s on to something with it being a smaller companion set. Big or small, I’m all in on some forestmen. I’m curious how they might update them. What a great couple of years to be a castle fan!- 2,976 replies

Oh man, I hope that's true. It would be fun to spend the summer thinking on those details. Plus, it would help me figure out where/how to display this beauty in advance. :)- 2,976 replies

LEGO Dungeons & Dragons - one step closer?
SirBlake replied to AmperZand's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Even better. I’d rather have yellow minifigs in such a theme anyway. -
Very nice. I think the sand green was a perfect choice for that 40’s lacquer paint.

A fitting end to an amazing body of work. Thank you again for taking us along on this journey. I love that you included the lists of unproduced ideas, but my heart breaks that I’ll never see your version of a squire. Se la vie. Such a cool accomplishment, and a truly valuable contribution to the community.

It’s been Saturday here in sunny Texas for over 9 hours. I’m quivering with antici….pation.

That looks great. The torso works really well reversed.

LEGO Dungeons & Dragons - one step closer?

There are also some iconic characters and creatures that could make for amazing sets. Imagine a Lego Tiamat. https://dungeonsdragons.fandom.com/wiki/Tiamat -

LEGO Dungeons & Dragons - one step closer?
SirBlake replied to AmperZand's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Indeed. It's got some pretty big names in it too, and has been described as being more on the "fun adventure" side of the spectrum, as opposed to "grim and gritty", so there should good opportunity for a child audience. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2906216/ -
LEGO Dungeons & Dragons - one step closer?
SirBlake replied to AmperZand's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I do too, but let's not forget the movie coming out next year, which does nullify that a bit, providing a new narrative to reference that would help to unify things. -
LEGO Dungeons & Dragons - one step closer?
SirBlake replied to AmperZand's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I understand your position here, but it’s based on a lot of assumptions that I don’t think either of us can truly know for sure. I think you make some logical points, some of which I could refute, but I would be making just as many assumptions without data if I were to try. Your point in the difference between a single Transformers set vs a full theme for D&D is well taken.
