  1. Judging by context clues, I'm sure he meant "factions".
  2. Oh I'm sure. Just can't wait to see those designs, and what colors they'll be. Excited to supply my Medieval farm with more livestock.
  3. I really like this list. Only change I wouldn't mind seeing is a different version of the minstrel/bard from the latest CMF series. It'd be fun to get a band going. Also, a Herald with a trumpet would be cool.
  4. The main reason why I wish for a full theme is new minifigs, and the ability to get them in reasonably large numbers. Depending on the execution of the Anniversary set, this may be just as good or better than a full theme. Time will tell.
  5. Any theories on when we're likely to see photos of the City Farm sets? I'm beyond tired of waiting to see piglets and such.
  6. Very cool! I particularly like the sculptural "river wall" complete with fish.
  7. As much as I would like to think that recent history (blacksmith, Creator castle, 90th set) would indicate a whole new theme in the near future, experience has taught me not to get my hopes up. As much as we would think that a well executed new castle theme would be a no-brainer success, TLG seems to have different thoughts on the matter. Ideas, Creator and anniversary-type things seem to be the new delivery method for classic themes like castle and pirates. I don't see that changing any time soon.
  8. 1) I agree. Good chance of that one. I bought the horse trailer set just so I could have a momma mare for the CMF foal.2) I personally would prefer a visiting updated Dragon knight (Black Knights in Bricklink parlance) and squire in the joust. We already have falcons.3) Yes! Forestmen and/or Wolfpack would be greatly appreciated.4) 20 sounds good. More is better, but 20 well-picked and presented is better than more blue/white stripe pirate torsos thrown in a castle. (looking at you, 31120)5) I'd be fine without a dragon, but we sort of got two in 31120 (big green one, little red one), and it was otherwise pretty well grounded in reality, so who knows?
  9. The unfettered hype train here and on Instagram is really getting under my skin. Maybe I've just been at this too long, but I can't think of a single instance in the history of TLG or their marketing that would indicate that there is any chance at all that this is a sneak peak at any set that's actually going to make production. For many reasons, I just don't see it. Not the least of those reasons is that an almost exact copy of several old sets would be hugely disappointing. I already have every set referenced in this video, and I know I'm not alone. All of that said, I can see that there could be a sliver of a chance that there's some deep reference to the components that an all-new castle might reference. Like Dale said, Joust, civilian building, etc. Still seems unlikely to me though. Lastly, as I previously mentioned, there was an official TLG video a little over a year ago that was just a cute thing that talked about medieval life (I looked, I can't find it), but I did luckily take a screen shot of it on my phone when I first saw it. A lot of people were convinced that the castle shown in this video was indicating what the Black Falcon Medieval Castle was going to look like. Nope. EDIT: I Still couldn't find the original video (Ideas Blacksmith teaser) on the Lego YouTube Channel (so many videos!), but I did find where it was re-uploaded by someone else a couple of weeks ago:
  10. I'm considering selling off most of my Middle Earth collection. It's almost complete minus Orthanc and the ship. I'll be holding on to Moria, the Helms Deep sets and Bag End, but I think I'm going to let go of the rest of the LOTR and Hobbit stuff to free up some room. I haven't cataloged everything yet, so I haven't made a for sale thread, but maybe it helps to know it's coming? lol I'll give y'all a heads up here first.
  11. I'm sorry, but I'm having a hard time following your logic. That's ok. Time will show who's wrong, but the funny thing is it might be both of us, lol. Either way, we can surely agree that It will be grand, and likely a crown jewel for many of our collections. I can't wait! Howdy, Robert! I've been keeping a close eye on your CMF work. It's just brilliant. So many that I NEED to be real, lol. The Gaul is the latest/greatest I've been pining for. Thanks so much for continuing this. I'll really miss it when it ends.
  12. The problem is that isn't a brand new castle entrance based on 6080. It is a very slightly modified 6080 and there's no way the main gate of a $350 set is almost a direct copy of an almost 40 year old set that was nowhere near that price point (adjusting for inflation). Look how grand the Kingdom's Joust set was. Tons more detail at a much greater scale. I'm expecting something like that, but with the castle walls and towers to finish it out. Anyone who thinks this is a sneak peek at the 90th Anniversary castle care to make a wager? If I'm right, you have to have a Dallas Cowboys logo as your avatar for a month. If you're right, I'll do the same with whatever team you pick (whatever sport). Let's have some fun with this.
  13. Thanks! Yes, actually if you look at the last paragraph of the post you quoted, you'll see that I did get the Blacksmith and 3 of the new Creator castles. I have about 20 of the new Black Falcon figs and I love them. I also added archers by using LotR Rohan Archer torsos with blue arms. Kind of making my own complete faction.
  14. This is a perfect companion to the Blacksmith. I would love to have this bakery set up right next to it. Very nice work.
  15. Hahah, I did manage to grab a couple of bards. The faire going on in my Medieval Market Village is now more entertained. I didn't grab the Castle in the Forest. Its a super cool build, but for the money, I'd be in it for new minifigs, which obviously wasn't part of the deal with that set.
  16. This news is big enough to come out of retirement for me. Hello to my old Lego Castle friends. It is very exciting to see that Castle has been getting some love over the last year or two, and even more exciting that we're finally going to get a big boy (and big $) castle. Though I haven't posted in a long time, I have been paying attention, and I must say, I am 99.9% certain that the images from the Back to the Future video are in no way representative of what we'll see this summer. Too much of it is a conglomeration of pre-existing sets from different styles and eras. Plus, there is precedence for this. When we were waiting for the Creator Medieval Castle set to be reviewed, there was a promo video that included a unique castle that had a much better chance of being a sneak peek of the set to come, and it wasn't related to anything that made production. Side note: I've been keeping up and got the Ideas Blacksmith, 3 copies of the Creator Medieval Castle and several of the new Black Falcons minifigs from Bricks & Pieces as well as the CMF's that fit within the castle, historic and fantasy themes. So, while I have been silent, I certainly haven't given up on the best theme. :)
  17. Man, you guys are the best. Once again, I appreciate how cool y'all are and it helps to know that you guys are dealing with similar feelings on the matter. I'm totally on the fence about the HP line. On one hand, it appears to be quite well done, but it just doesn't speak to me like real Castle or Middle Earth stuff did. I suppose there's a chance that could change when I see them on shelves, but I doubt it. I think a (hopefully) temporary dark age is really the answer. I'll just spend the time working on my old car and enjoying the collection I've built over the years. Maybe one day TLG will come back to me.
  18. Thanks for the kind words, guys. I figured you might be feeling the same way. I should be back when there's something to talk about.
  19. This is a weird thing for me to post, as I never could have imagined doing this willingly, but I find myself walking into a new dark age. It's been years since TLG has offered anything I really cared for, and with nothing on the horizon that fits my taste, I'm just going to say adios. I'm not posting this for drama, I've just forged some friendships on here (most of which hang out here in the Historic forum) in the last several years, and I didn't want anyone to think I had gone missing. The simple fact is that my hobby is centered around buying, building and displaying Castle sets and figs, and there's just nothing for me out there anymore. They've even found a way to kill the CMF line for me with all this licensed and themed junk. Because of this, being involved in the online community that surrounds Lego has turned sour. It's just not fun anymore. I'll see you guys if/when Lego decides to offer something I'm actually interested in. So long and thanks for all the fish.
  20. Ford GT’s hot rod + Raptor new + old Camaros im seeing a trend here. 2-car American stuff.
  21. I can guarantee you that if 2013 came out today, I would have been critical of the lame faction heraldry and still bought most of the sets. Oh wait, that's what I did in 2013.
  22. Whoah, that carriage set is awesome.
  23. There’s so much talk about how hard it is to satisfy the castle AFOL, but I would totally be happy with a modern take on 6059 with new, well designed heraldry. I’d just by 8-10 of them and build the kingdom myself.
  24. Well, liquidate means sell everything, so I expect that all items will be discounted at progressively greater intervals until it's all gone.
  25. So basically standard Castle theme operating procedure. Sounds good to me.
