Finaly got mine in the post yesterday. Built one of my two sets last night, a very nice and fun build. Very very good looking train, even my wife was impressed and thats saying something if you know my wife she hates mine and my sons lego. So it must be good. going to bild the 2nd one over the weekend and put two 9v motors on and see how she runs. Looking into get some pf light in there to run off the 9v motors. I think i will put one of my dead 9v motors in the rear to power the rear lights. They free wheel quite well without the motor inside and i can use the pickups to power the rear cab. Waiting on parts i orders about a month ago to make the 3rd jacob boggie then i am done.

Hope this is what you are after. Not sure if you wanted to run trains over it or just make it like a dead siding.

I am sure the LNER loco was a compelte flop when they tested it the pulling power was really bad for a loco that size.

ya can give it a go keep ya posted

OO/HO is about half the scale of lego, G scale is the closest. I would think it would be very hard to down scale a working loco to that sice. the flange alone on the lego wheel are taller than the rail on OO/HO track. As i have advised before PF track should more than withstand quite a bit outside and you will just need to use PF hardware in trains. Price wise PF track is alot cheaper than any other type G scale 9v track.

i like it along the lines on how i want to make mine so it can all come apart.

These can be done with out base plates but will just be weaker. Baseplates go for a good price on bricklink over getting them new from a shop. can get them for around a few US bucks. the cost will be going into the bends and turnouts with high brick counts. attached some other versions.

like the crash at the end :-p

If you look at the one i just did u used the points in LDD but i had the 9v version in my hand. if you look at my designs the track is one stud higher than the bricks so LDD lets me build the ballist. I can email you my version it will work for 9v track and would guess PF

Hello All. My version of track ballast, yes there can easyerly be more detail on them. But its all about keeping the brick count down and price. Double Streight section is 148 Bricks. Double Bend is 644 I found anything like this hard to find the best i could find was some pics to get a base idea off. Working on turnout and x over. Thanks Matthew

I have done a few changes to this now mainly changes it to 32x32 bases to cut costs down and also ballasted the track.

Hello All. I need a bit of help i want to put my turnouts and bends on base boards but these dont just clip on. I have seen a few pics around the place with people ballasting track. Does any one have an Lfx fail i can use for a basic version as i want to do my whole set i want one that uses the least amount of bricks for best look posible to keep cost down. 2nd thing is would anyone also have any lxf files of hills or banks so i can get an idea on how best to make them. you can msg me or email me tindoor500@hotmail.com. ta Matthew

That is sorted now, with alot less of those bricks to keep cost down. Just used about 7 a side at the joints.

Bit of an update this does look better i have extended the platforms buy about 6 studs just to fill up the 48x48 board. I just want to get some form of like little hut or some how do some like electice pipes or something in the middle of the tracks just to fill in the white space. Any ideas??

Hello All. If you did not see a trend coming i am making my sets into 48x48 blocks that will be built on to this size wood squares at some point once i have my sets i want to do complete. Due to this i can do a few tricks and i really want some bridges but dont want to put in the rasers. So i am using a model railroad trick and building into the base board and making the bridge level with the rest of the set. First time i have tryed to do land scaping i think it looks nice.

you are right, but i did not want to do a complete over hall on this one. Issue is i run a gap of 8 studs for my double track so having a gap that big in battween might look strange.

Yes its xmas. After a day of building lego i sat down a did a quick modem of the Train station i just got only had it an hour and i want to improve/change it. Simple Mod just to make it dual track as i run dual tracks on the layout. I will buy the parts as i am geting parts for my other Wips. On that today i got this and police car, 4x4 and police quad bike, creator helicopter and this. Not a bad score for an old man :-)

I know this but its lego its not a model set. Any way it has space to fit all my locos though now. I always though this loco looked more like a diesel than electrictic but hay thats how lego made it. just like the no ladders to the crane from earlyer.
