OK a few more hours after your comments and put all under action and it does look better. It was a bit of work trying to add an extra 5 bricks height with out just adding them to the hopper and making it look dumb. Managed to pull it off and my Yellow train what this is built for can just fit though. This has come along way since the first picks and from the Mining set it once was.

Ya the clearance i have to deal with i rased it one more brick but any more and the crane wont be able to clear and off load his load. also the whole thing looks to tall so idea is just so the train can back under and fill up and then move out the way it reversed in. There is to offices/control rooms so i might just convert the one by the crane into something else like you say

Done now with ladder
-
haha ya now you say it no ladder. that crane is legos design i did not mod it a bit haha. But will add one on that for that, eyes go a bit funny after a few hours of looking at the same thing need fresh eyes. :-)

Hello All. Some of you may know i have been working on a nice MOW train and been wanting to make a coaling type tower to load the trucks. I have been buying up a lot of the mining sets as they have been on special close to xmas and got all the trucks and cars and that that i want to add to this model. I started with the model from the gold mining set that is out at the moment as it had a layout i could work with and not to large. I gutted it and removed alot fo the stuff i did not like and anything what makes it more like a mining set than just a loading station. And i ended up with this what i think over all with all my trucks and the ballast wagons i desiged it looks really good. The main building with 3 streight tracks will fit on a 48x48 base board what is my plan. Enjoy guys C&C welcome. Mary Xmas. PS. some of my other works i have about 80% of the parts waiting on shipping so in the new year i should have some real photos of my double shed with signal tower and also some ballast wagons made.

2 weeks and counting :-)

I like that steam loco would like those plans Murdoch, i like a lot of the stuff you have done. I have all the parts for the switching tower you did and just waiting on the parts for my double shed that you helpped with and then i will put up some pics. Also about got about 70% of the parts for the MOW train so should have pics of that in the new year.

9V version of mine.
-
Will get one for you 2nite.
-
I can put up a pic of my 9v vershion if any one would be keen for a look. Finish is alot better without the PF stuff in it.

This was one of the first locos i built when i got back into lego. I converted the whole thing into 9v and lost the batt box and recvier from it. I really like the loco, it is a big bugger. Dont really like the wagons bar the MOW truck on the back i am using that for something else. But i hate the other trucks still thinking of what to build for a rake of wagons for this.

Hay guys. I did a test with LDD, and yes i missed a car out but it was more to test the idea. Yes you can use those boggies in the middle of the train with no issues. You just need to mod the undercarage a little and make it a bit longer. The links between the Loco and trucks are like that in real life so i would not change them. but this is what i am doing to mine when i get my hands on them in 3 weeks. Will be running two 9v motors in one of the locos and see if that is enough.

ok just did some pricing, the new roof style will cost me more than the old lego way. its over $70us to make the new design and only about $60 for 16 2x8 slopes dont need 32 as i have 16 already. for anyone else making this yes cheaper the new way for me i might need to go back to the old lego way due to cost.
-
I like murdocs very long shed but probably a bit out of my price range to make. I always wanted to make my single into a double so i have moced it up. I have changed the roofs to keep the price down but in saying that they use a more bits. i will need to price up if the standard lego design is cheaper or this one. this one does look a bit better. My budget for this is about $2-300 cheaper the better, seams i already have half the bits might be able to do it better. its the shipping what kill the price and if i need to order from a lot of store. The sliding doors are not in lego designer so i just left them off. i have added a crossing so my small trucks can drive though with parts on. changed where the middle stuff is and i think it looks good. i have used 3 big base plates for this and i wanted to have all the track connected and my buffers connected to. i might add another plate on so i can put my switching tower on also

Garden Railways - A Lego Layout in the Garden? Is She Nuts?

I would not see any issue leaving RC track out in the weather all year round. Its not that harsh in NZ, you might need to replace the rails every few years if the get britle due to the sun. But the 9v you would have issues with. -
just get 2-3 desk lamps with some bright energy saves and you will be away even with a cheap cam. get a cardboard box and cut out the left and right side and the top and tape over some baking paper. get an A1 sheet of paper and tape it on the insdie of the box and you have a light box for about $50 thats if you have to buy the lamps. If you have lamps mabye 5-10nz not even that. Put a lamp on each side and on over the top, then take picks and they will come out nice. I take alot of pics of my warhammer in this way and it works with anything.

MOC: Improved 'F' Class for Kotanga Tramway
Lazarus replied to Locomotive Annie's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Money is always the big part in anything, some parts can be very expencive. you should really try and get the Lego Design program i think you would have fun with that. You can plan a train and price up the bricks before you spend a cent. you wont even need to spend the cash on clones. And if you end up using some rare bricks you can try and swap them out. i though it would be hard but it is just like building lego. -
Haha i know exactly what you mean.
