Thanks again guys. for the crossing they also have side walks they are a very british design. Ataching minfigs is easy i just add in some 1x1 plates where needed but dont know where the people and my cars will be going yet. I have a month or two before getting some more parts. this has set me back about $700NZ so need to do some more saving. But for a treat some pics of the crossing

Still have the road to finish on this and the crossing, and the house and then onto part to. sorry i predict 3-4 months before next part as i think this is the amount of time it will take me to get parts for what i have left to do and save the cash. Also the backing does not matter at this point as you wont be viewing the layout on these angles if need be later i will do something with them. It more trying to save cash buying the cheapest 2x4 brick around.

Ahh you like the level crossing :-), thought some might. You will have to wait and see :-P also they are not a cheap build some pricy parts in there but they are worth it for there look. Lego road base plates but puting side walks on them, another think that is not cheap. 2x4 light gray tiles i only need like 1500 of them haha.

Hello All. A lot of you might have seen a few of my MOCs around the place of the past 6 months and i have had a lot of nice feed back. Due to all this and my really enjoying designing lego at the moment and the huge smile if give my son when he see a box come in the mail. "Daddy Daddy lego is here, i want to play lego". Best get the most of it while he is still young before he just starts thinking about girls. Any ways, lego has ended up being my fillin train hobby till i can buy a bigger house and move back to my N Scale trains and start a new layout i have been thinking of for years. Yes this is not a cheap fill in and noor does it take up little space but the plus to lego is i can make it very modular and i dont need to worry much about wiring so i can have it all packed and staked in boxes to save space. Onto the layout, this is one of three mayjoy sections on my overall layout. Its not the biggest lego layout around but i am putting the extra effort into detail. This section took my about 3 months to make in LDD and about 4-5 months to order the 5000 parts in this section. Over all the layout is totaling about 25000 bricks. I am trying to make this just like i would make a real train layout, keeping the detail where it should be and trying to have as little flat areas as posbile. I am deviding the lager sections into 4 base boards what is a 510cm square at a later stage transport case with be made to hold upto about 4 of these sections so i can drive them to shows. Below is my LDD image of the 1/3 of the layout and below that is what i am upto. Enjoy Matthew

Wow love that dude malard would love that. but you EN now looks like something i would like to get it looks right now not like a full size steam track sqwashed like the EN i think the lego EN is to short in the boiler and looks sqwashed. I think i will need to price this up. Would love the plans for those smaller A4s that is my fav train ever i love A4s.

Most of my 9v track is from when i was about 7 y/o i am now 28 and i still have not had to give it a clean and for a good 10 years it was stored at my mum and dads farm what is not the cleanest place around. train still run fine. I also have model train both HO and N scale and that is a very diffrent story if the track is durty the locos wont run well but some how i think its more the weel desigen on the lego 9v motor they dont have this issue. I would say cost wise for 20% more cost for getting 9v i would get it as you can use both PF and 9v, if you go PF you only have that option what will limit the things you can do with custom locos.

with ronenson version i would of personaly made it a coverd over pass. The way the walk over is desigend in this lego model is way to fragile and they would not build it like this in real life with out extra support or have a coverd over pass or a trelis like bridge to hold the weight of the road. . Also i can see the sag in the middle on the photo. And in real life dual rail track is not so spaced like in lego land.

May improve on this later but this is not the only one i have to finish at the moment :-), But when the over all bend is complete you will see what i see :-p. I would say in 2 months i will have this complete the two bridges made and a decline corner made.

thats legos design :-p

i would not worry there is only an extra hand full of parts needed to to this. might set you back 10-20 bucks and not 100+

just looking at that so there is no hinge in there it just sits on top. Also to slide the lock back under would you need to touch the top bit to get it back under it. your video sort of cut out half way though i wanted to see more of unit moving.
-
that would be good to see as my track has be raised 2 plates due to my ballast so i might be able to put this into my layout
-
That would work cheaper to. this could be an easy cheap build main thing is u need to have a base board on ya layout.

Best idea i have see around for what you need it to do. but everyone is right it does need to be 2way or its a bit point less. could you attach it to some form on leaver. and just ignore the whole motor thing for now. Make it like a see saw. Just a though you could do it with electromagnets put some small earth magnets on each end and use a electromagnet to pull down a side at a time with a switch. No motors just science. I am sure they do this for models train also i will have a hunt for something i think peco do something. Found it http://www.ehattons.com/7596/Peco_Products_PL_25_Electro_Magnetic_Magni_Simplex_Decoupler/StockDetail.aspx i Dont know how much power it has, i have not used one for my model trains yet but this under the above idea would be able to make it switch like a seesaw bit of modding and you would need to have you layout on some form of base board also.

there has been some i have seen but they have inbuilt them into train and they are very slow. never seen one that was piratical
