Review: 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep
SheepEater replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Agreed. I never cared about any castle theme until this came out. With that said, me already being a big LotR fan did help matters. Why not build a little elevation using bricks? Sorry, just being a purist. -

Splendid MOC. This really hits home for me, as my secondary hobby is taking acting classes. I love how you included weapon props/costumes/wigs!

, another Friends/Technic hybrid MOC! Love it! -
Love it. Hope you win something in the LEGO contest. That would be awesome.

Hi, do you know any good MOCs based on the first two "The Godfather" movies? I figured this topic would fit best in the Town forum.

Sorry if I don't get it, but why would Darth Malgus be bothered that a bunch of teenage girls like his chest piece?

Higher prices in Europe
SheepEater replied to stephen_rockefeller's topic in General LEGO Discussion
What I don't get is why isn't Denmark exempt from this. You'd think their government would encourage local businesses... -
Heavy metal concert. minifigs: band, sound engineers, crowd (20-30 minifigs to be realistic)

LOTR Project: The Return of the King
SheepEater replied to Nuju Metru's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Why would a flagship set (unless it's UCS and non-minifig scale) be exclusive? -
I'd use only 2. One to the left of the grate wall, the other to the right. And then on the second set I'd mix and match Eomer with the generic soldier to end up with 1 Eomer, 1 Rohan horseman and 2 different looking Rohirrim archers.

Peter Jackson: "seventeen-year-delay makes a better Hobbit" Seventeen years have passed since Peter Jackson approached Miramax about bringing one of his favorite JRR Tolkien tales The Hobbit to the big screen. Speaking to the Dominion Post‘s Lenna Tailor Peter Jackson and Philippa Boyens speculate that the delay, during which they went on to shoot three wildly successful movies based on Tolkien Lord of the Rings, might have been for the best. Jackson: “I remember in 1995 I made the first call to [Miramax's] Harvey Weinstein and said we were interested in doing The Hobbit. The idea was, if it was successful, we would do Lord of the Rings. But Harvey said the rights were in a very complicated state — however, Lord of the Rings was potentially available. It’s strange how that call 17 years ago was the beginning of this whole process.” “It was fate that we did Lord of the Rings first because it has made for a better Hobbit,” adds writer-producer Philippa Boyens. “It would’ve been a very different film if we’d gone the other way around. Maybe fate was also waiting for Martin [Freeman] to play Bilbo at exactly the right time and age.” http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2012/08/12/60751-jackson-seventeen-year-delay-makes-a-better-hobbit/

This is most likely. A small local toy shop has Transformers Kre-o on its shelf and I had a long chat with the owner. I was the one who announced him the Kre-o Star Trek license. He told me he would NOT stock Kre-o Star Trek sets since the Transformers sets didn't sell. (His shop is mostly action figures, but he carries a few Lego sets as well, mostly SW)

Higher prices in Europe
SheepEater replied to stephen_rockefeller's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That is a brillant idea. Unfortunately, I collect boxes, so I have pay my fair share of customs fees. It's not so much the actual taxes that bother me - it's the customs handling fee that's ticking me off. -
Well, Elrond's already been talked about for like 6 pages now. How about Galadriel? From this crappy screeshot from the LOTR game, we can still see that she will make a stunning minifig with a new female elf hairpiece. Do you think we will see her in the upcoming Hobbit sets, or the next LOTR wave? Or as an exclusive like Last Alliance Elrond?

What a coincidence, theonering.net posted their review of that set at the same time! http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2012/08/12/60783-product-review-lotr-lego-gandalf-arrives-set/ Here's what you can build with the cart from this set! Originally posted May 31, the week the sets came out. Click the link for more photos. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=70330 Here is my first LOTR creation: Frodo's wooden race car! Consists only of parts from one 9469 set. Back when they were even smaller hobbits, Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin would construct wooden cars to pass the time. Then they would race each other down a steep hill, only to crash into some tree or big rock and eventually having to rebuild their cars over and over again. A great way to deliver those fresh turnips across Hobbiton! Features an opening cockpit.

There you go. They can only sell sets based on that specific 2009 universe.
-
... as an answer to Megabloks' Halo license! And now just found out they also got a Sonic the Hedgehog license! (No doubt as an answer to K'nex Mario license)
-
Did you also get Frodo's Cooking Corner?
-
I just went to meccano.com and they have jumped the Lego/Megabloks/Kre-o bandwagon and got themselves a licensed theme! But.... Tintin? http://www.meccano.com/models/tintin/
-
That would surprise me, since the 2009 film erased that timeline.

While it's a good idea for a set, there's no way this will ever be anywhere near $60. Look at 4207's heavy price tag... To the guy who suggested a trailer park... How about a Downtown Los Angeles-like ghetto with street gangs, addicts, and other two terms which I won't utter here, they stand for women selling "services" and men who "look after" them. These would make a terrific complement to the endless stream of police sets! ... nah, just kidding. We're just daydreaming.
