I'm betting two for $20 or maybe even one for $10-12. As these sets appear to be SDCC exclusives, I'm thinking we'll also see some of them elsewhere in the regular retail run. Like an alternate MCU version of the same characters.

I'm betting single packs at $10-12 each. Or two-packs at $20. Lego really needs to keep this in the impulse range much like Funko's Pops and the Lego Mighty Micros in order to be viable.

Again, that's just the price for the SDCC exclusive sets. The retail ones will be cheaper.

I can see Lego going into Star Wars with this. I mean they had those Cube Dudes a few years back. The trickiest part with these will always be the heads, helmets, aliens, etc. With that said, it could be a long-lived line.

Ok, that makes sense - SDCC pricing is always at least double retail, so I could see a two-pack of these for closer to $20. If they play the collectibility factor on these correctly, they could do really well. I definitely see the resemblance to Pops, but at least Lego isn't going to be making a billion exclusives of these to stores like Walgreens and Target. It's a good time to jump on the market for this type of "stylized" product.

I'm really glad the reviews are starting to become more and more positive wth specific reasons as to why this movie will work. I haven't seen it yet, but as a GB fan, I'm hoping this one does well.

I've only seen a few episodes of the show, but liked enough that I was really considering this Ideas set. Now I'm kinda thinking I'll just get the Dimensions items and try to MOC the rest of the stuff. There's just not enough here in the Ideas version to warrant the cost.

Future Marvel Superheroes Rumors & Speculation
HawkLord replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well, the debate had to be hosted in this thread rather than over in the Star Wars one this week. It's good to change venues... -
I think the multitude of IPs will help keep the game honest. I don't see Disney, Star Wars, or Marvel suddenly entering the field and dominating all the products - Warner Bros and DC would have something to say about that. And I think Lego doesn't want it to just become the "Disney Show". It's very similar to a company called WizKids that make a tabletop minis game in the superhero genre called Heroclix. That games uses characters from Marvel, DC, and some indie properties. These characters can fight against each other and of course that contributed to multiple discussions/arguments on which IP is more powerful. WizKids addresses this by making fewer DC expansions per year than Marvel expansions, but the DC expansions tend to have more powerful characters. That makes both IPs happy - Marvel has more characters, but DC has more powerful characters. The same can be true for Dimensions. Both IPs can exist respectfully in the Dimensions world.

I don't know if this might help you, but the JW sets are still available from the Lego site and at some stores in the US. I've been waiting to find some clearance prices, as I doubt the sets will stay at retail too much longer. What this means is that I would bet secondary market prices could be coming down, as usually their very high for items not still available in stores. With any luck, lower secondary market prices may benefit you in the country you are in.

I'm not so sure it will. RO is untested and as I assume this new DS will be staying on the shelves as long as the old one did, I'm betting it's going to be all OT to appeal to arguably the most base Star Wars audience. If RO doesn't hold up, it could damage the success of a partially RO inspired DS. Note: I have no credible, secret, or otherwise source-based info to support this. This is my assumption only.

Got mine yesterday and love it. Really takes me back with all the old school Castle pics. The printing is solid on the minifigure and shields (two shields here is just a stand-up move by Lego).
-
As mentioned, I picked up the Eclipse Fighter. Initially I thought it was alittle cheap of Lego to only include two minifigures, but I'm impressed with the Naare minifigure. The addition of dual face printing, hood, and hair makes it feel more complete than the average Jedi minifigure. Plus, all the red and black flats really make an impact to me, as those are some of my favorite bricks. I would definitely say it's worth the price.

Has there Ever Been a Stan Lee minifig ?...because
HawkLord replied to r5-j2's topic in LEGO Licensed
I would love a Stan Lee minifigure or at the very least a skin tone head that had close enough printing to make a purist custom. I could see a Stan Lee polybag being offered with purchase on a given month. If it was a video game bonus, that would suck as not everyone plays the video games. An SDCC exclusive could also be likely, but that would literally be the worst case scenario for most collectors. -
What's funny is there was a time not too long ago where Daredevil was a bad word. Right after the Affleck movie no one wanted to touch him. Now that there's a new Daredevil television show, he's back in the limelight, but only for adults. At the same time, She-Hulk has been a fan favorite for years and a member of multiple teams. I consider her a solid B-list character. Lego venturing out of just the main MCU roster is really great for collectors, as it gives the impression they may yet take on nearly every A through C list superhero. It's a smart move adding that level of collectibility.

Would WARCRAFT fit the TLG guidelines?
HawkLord replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think Nexo is already very similar to WoW to some degree. The weapons and armor are big and fantasy-like and there are some demon-like creatures. As for WoW itself, I think Lego may steer clear of it because they don't "need" another licensed IP in that field right now. WoW would require many new molds, just from the races alone and would take time to ramp up for profits. Plus, WoW is kinda on the decline. The movie didn't do well in the US and membership is at all time lows. It might be too risky. -
She-Hulk is definitely a win. And I guess I can always use another Hulk, but Red She-Hulk and Rulk aren't of interest. I may just get it and sell those two off. And while we're not directly getting Fantastic Four minifigures, at least She-Hulk counts as an honorary member.

I'll add that as a long time action figure collector, I've never seen a store clearance a movie line before the movie has hit theaters. Worst case scenarios is they usually clearance after the movie hits and bombs, but not before. This particular Target has maybe 1-2 feet of space devoted to Ghostbusters with Dory alittle further down. It may be that given the ridiculous success of Dory, they may be looking to clear up more shelf space by canning Ghostbusters. Given that I've also seen the new action figures (ladies) go for half retail on eBay, this is not good. Still holding out hope this ends well...

Ghostbusters (Reboot) 2016 sets rumors and discussion
HawkLord replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
So, not to be a downer, but I just found a local Target has already put the all the Ghostbusters 2016 toys on clearance. Not marked down for a sale, but actually marked with the red clearance stickers. Discounts seemed to be around 33% off or more. This is shocking, because as a toy collector, I've never seen a movie line of toys clearanced before the movie even hit theaters. I have seen sales, but nothing like this. It looks like at least this one Target store is bailing on the line before it even starts. I mention this here, because it may be possible to find the new Ecto-1 on clearance. -
Just found all the reboot toys at target a few weeks ago and today I saw them on clearance. Not even sale - they had the red clearance stickers on them, marked down by about 30%. $20 action figures for $14. Kinda scary that this target is already pulling out.

Wow, that was fast, if it's truly sold out. I'm glad I have one coming in from an order this week. it was supposed to run until the 10th, I think.

LEGO minifigures quality in sets (not series minifigs)
HawkLord replied to im1992's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I've never contacted Lego about the printing issue, mostly because it's never bothered me that much. In some cases, I look at the early copies of crisply printing minifigures as nice variants - as an action figure guy, that's kinda cool. The European difference in sets from elsewhere in the world is something I've never heard of before, but it makes sense. Lego produces a global product and as such, making different parts in different regions would help offset shipping expenses. I also feel a slight distrust of the China made pieces, only because as far as CMF goes, I do have some minifigures whose head gear and other parts just don't have the same clutch power. Granted, as mentioned here, it's not a huge deal because for the most part my minifigures stay together with little swapping of parts. If this was a problem with bricks themselves, which can be changed out regularly, I think the community would be much more vocal. I don't worry too much about the lead issue, as that's been something I feel has been tackled well whenever it comes up. Overall, Lego even with its flaws is still a far superior toy compared to other products in the toy space. Edit: I'll also add that rubberized pieces on minifigures hasn't been a total deal breaker for me. I have a number of minifigures with rubberized heads - Yoda, Kit Fisto, etc that while the clutch isn't the best, I vary rarely if ever remove the heads. If the choice is to have great head sculpts like that with details that may break if they were solid plastic and thus need to be made in rubber or not have them, I'd rather have them. -
With the next wave (and future waves) of Dimensions bringing in so many new IPs, I have to wonder if Ideas will still be a haven for IP-based set or if it may function more for completely original set designs.
